Pretty Fair Maid in a Garden

A traditional song learned from Ora Watson, born 1911. I met Ora when I was around twenty and she was about sixty. We spent over forty years playing music and sharing a rich friendship. Ora and I had a great time performing in the Cacklin’ Hens String Band, an all-female group. Later Cecil and I created a grouping that featured Ora. We learned a lot of music from her and truly enjoyed the years together. Ora Watson was a female fiddler, guitar and banjo player plus singer of ballads and folksongs plus country, gospel, and bluegrass music.
