I appreciate what you did here especially with the stain. I have a couple pointers. Badger has an inexpensive series of spray guns. The Badger 250 and 250-2. Not a precision airbrush but great for spraying stains and finishing over broad surfaces. Secondly, any color stain can be made from artist grade oil or acrylic paints. For example you can add a small amount of phalo blue oil paint to boiled linseed oil and thin to desired viscosity for application with paint thinner. Acrylic paints can be blended with acrylic medium and thinned with water. Oil based stains are best for bare steel. Pick the transparent or translucent pigments for the best “pop” effect.
Very cool to see another metal sculpture artist on TH-cam. Me and you have about the same skill set and equipment which is cool. I also learned that taking the gas nozzle off the end of the welder was an amazing improvement (do you have the plastic thread protector...they sell them at lowes). Keep creating amazing work my friend!
