This guy is really an awesome human being, he was so humble and said "Even if we get 1% of the cell phone market" thats 10 million handsets and guess what? iPhone has sold over 100 million handsets in 3 years. Great work Jobs!
John Ives is the head product designer for Apple. He is British. Note that this "design" relates to the look of the product, not the actual engineering behind it.
Steve Jobs died on 10/5/11, which was my 16th birthday, it was such a great day, I got a lot of fb posts, I went out to dinner, and my dad took out his iphone and it said on the news that Steve died and it totally killed the whole night, R.I.P Steve Jobs
I loved it to work with Steve's programms at my High Technical Education, The Graphic Lyceum at Eindhoven and afterwards at my job ECS. Still like doing that if possible, thanks and kind regards.
Not only did he change the computer, music, and phone industry but he changed the way of enjoying. I honestly think Steve Jobs had a mind of his own and I'm glad to own an Apple iPhone. Without this man, a phone wouldn't be more then a phone. All these phones coming out now copied Apple on the features and more. well thanks for reading. RIP STEVE JOBS, MAY GOD BE WITH YOU!
Is it possible that all the fuss about the battery life is overblown? Is the 5hours, continual phone? What i'm wondering is will it stay active for, say 18 hours, if you only occasionally use the phone or pod or whatever? "Great company, great product, I am a huge fan and avid user and stock owner" Me too :)
Yea hes definitely a lot different now after getting sick. If you watch his keynotes from WWDC 08 (july 08) up until the unibody MBP introduction (October 08), you can see his health decline and his voice and facial features changing along the way. He doesn't have nearly the same kind of energy that he used to, his keynotes used to be a lot more electrifying than they are now.
I don't understand why apple didn't placed a displayphone tech! I'm Korean (obviously) living in Korea, and in my school, my class, half of my classmates are using displayphone tech. I appreciate all the features introduced by Jobs, though the keybord on the screen is already here in Korea by LG's phone, and SAMSUNG phone is doing perfectly in having a phone call with watching each others eyes.
Bill Gate received Dortoral Degree from Harvard University where he dropped out when he was 19 to make his dream come true by created the new innovation that we called " Computer " and he is Microsoft's founder where is the most influence company in the world. I admired everything he had done. He is an initial and creative engineer and of course he is business man that's why he have to think about the profit sometimes. Anyway I think Bill Gate is a genius , incredible and truely icon
I don't know about you, but my CD collection stopped growing when iPod came out. I've seen dozens of record stores shut down in LA over the last 5 years. I don't know about you, but that seems to me like a revolution in the way we get music.
"Steve Jobs here to stay?: Well again, I serve at the pleasure at the board and shareholders and as long as they want me, I'd love to keep doing this job" - Even though it's been nearly a year after your death, we miss you more than ever and we all wish you could keep doing your job.
Oh yeah they changed the music industry by becoming the number one distributor of DRM media. RIAApple is the posterchild for the success of DRM and the reason it will not be going away any time soon.
Despite the iPhone being a success, the great rise in popularity and sales and overall success of Apple, could be put down to the iPod. It put Apple in the minds of a lot more consumers who would probably be influenced into trying a mac due to the iPod being a good product. Although one of their best moves was probably the Intel switch in 2005. Removed quite a few barriers that would have kept some customers locked to other platforms.
I have two Macs, am considering an iPod for my birthday, and a year or two I may get an iPhone once the contract on my Voyager runs out (this will give time for Apple to get some of the remaining kinks out of the iPhone such as lack of flash or camera options and, more importantly, mobile iChat LOL).
Steve Jobs really does do a great interview. He tries to make himself come off as a normal person, even though he's a billionaire. Bill Gates can't say the same.
That's actually not completely true. If there is something wrong with the phone yes, but in general in new condition just about all phones should respond the same.
Even though you deserve a big flaming, I'm just going to inform you. I switched just this November, after contemplating it for nearly a year. I got an iMac 20" and haven't looked back yet. It seems like it runs the new Photoshop CS3 beta over twice as fast as my 3.4ghz HT wintel PC at the same price.
As I recall, MS and Apple were in litigation over some copy right issues. Something to do with portions of QuickTime code used in Windows. Since a settlement was better for all, the deal ended up be a win for both. $150 million of Apple common stocks bought by MS. MS and Apple share tech for 5 years. Apple drop suit and gets MS Office. MS made several times their investment actually a few years later when they sold.
It just goes to show you, it's not the path that matters, it's that when you get there, you become a saint, despite your past personality. But hey, I guess we all like him for the business person he is.
i think it's possible to unlock the phone to make it carrier-free phone. THat way u can use it all over the world without getting stuck with cingular. It is a quad-band GSM phone anyway.
@downhell666 The technology behind Iphone wasn't new when it came out. LG was the first to come out with a touchscreen phone with it's LG Prada. As for the new phones, some are copy cats, but others take the technology and actually improve upon it and make a product if not at par with an iPhone, better than an iPhone.
Why should a for-profit company have to manufacture products in America if it's more expensive and less flexible? It simply doesn't make business sense. And I'm pretty sure Apple can do just fine without you owning anything made by them, considering they're the most valuable company in the world.
I'm watching this holding the iPhone 4 haha, its crazy to look back at this and see all the doubt about the iPhone yet it has completely changed the phone market. Apple Amazing!

There are so many tings to like about Steve Jobs from his passion, energy, and the degree to which he "sells" Apples products.
