Despite the iPhone being a success, the great rise in popularity and sales and overall success of Apple, could be put down to the iPod. It put Apple in the minds of a lot more consumers who would probably be influenced into trying a mac due to the iPod being a good product. Although one of their best moves was probably the Intel switch in 2005. Removed quite a few barriers that would have kept some customers locked to other platforms.
