Here we assess colony flow and food stores with my dedicated flagship colony. By using one or two colonies throughout the apiary, I judge the at the moment situations due to conditions throughout the year. This helps me make proactive management decisions. Here, the colony hasn’t accessed enough open feed due to inconsistent feeding weather. With cool weather in the forecast and after assessing a lack of incoming feed, we decided to drop pails on the entire apiary as the colonies are moved out into summer yards to ensure fresh available sugars for continual colony development.
*this colony doesn’t represent the amount of food stores within my apiary. It is just a light colony that I’ve used to continually assess.*

Nice to see Kerrie in a new Honey Rustler Beesuite
Yeaaaa!!! Someone shouted a new bee jacket
The combs in your assessment colony are looking pretty old and dark, do you think those are about ready to be replaced? Have a bunch of my own like that and finally getting around to rotating them out. Wondering if that's been contributing to your disease issues the last year. Wishing you a great season!
carry has a clean bee jacket 😀
Carrie the newbeeeekeeper with that pure white bee jacket 😂😂😂😂
Hahah! She's paid for that new jacket with a lot of stings! Then she has to endure our roasting of that bright white. Yup, her jackets are hard earned! We bow to her hive tool!! 🙌
looks like things are doing well . and Kerrie's new suit looks great
Colonies are of moderate strength, and the use of oxalic treatment has been abandoned in favor of a more meaningful approach...progress in work compared to before. 👍
WOW look at that pretty new jacket. What a hard worker .
Did you notice all bad words are 4 lettered ie
Snow
Cold 😂
I saw a willow blooming .
And the maples are starting to flower 🎉
Nice to see the bees out again. Your channel somehow got out of my algorithm. Haven't watched you in several months. Glad to know you put the push broom down. Best of luck to you this season
Now that I figured out how to make fondant simple recipe .. we call it the recipe because bees blow up on it great early spring feed.. the fondant i add pollen sub wasn't good for early but once that big hatch happened they really liked the fondant with pollen sub added.. feed both inverted sugar and pollen in the same bag .. next year i wont make patties... Ill have fondant pollen and real pollen all in the same bag ready to go..
New packages also continue to give an injection of new genetics into your operation, which can be seen as beneficial. Great looking start to your season! Cheers
Woohoo the dandelions are flowering and the wild plums are blooming.... the bees are happy... I love this time of year🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
Looks amazing ! Gonna be good year… Cold and rain here in Oregon
Looking good Ian, don't know how you keep bees alive with your winters.
So nice to see you northern folks hard at work as we are just syrup feeding light hives and planning our winter holidays to the tropical islands.
?
@@billyjones6626 I know winter is so short now days in few months we will be preparing hives for Mānuka and then for pollination etc, but for now let me enjoy the easy days with no splitting no re-queening just feeding, hopefully not in the rain.
Happy weekend, Boss!
Can you say what mite treatment you are trialing or is it hush hush?
Looking like the genetics you put in from your battery helping?
Ce rasă de albină aveți??
One more!! You did it! You said one more and then I didn’t see anymore! How many did you check after you turned off the camera lol?
😂😂😂
@@aCanadianBeekeepersBlog yeah I thought so!
Shiny new bee suit or do you have a secret to wash it.😊
Brand new! My old one was becoming more holes than jacket.
I follow you for 3-4 years now and I have a question, regarding feeding your bees coming out of the shed. What about saving fames of honey from previous harvest and give it to them instead of syrup, your thoughts ?
Thank you.
Oh yes, that’s a good strategy. Syrup also stimulates better than anything else

Hello. I am a novice in beekeeping. One question: that plastic bucket or jar that is on top of the beehives it contains? How is it made? Are they sold? Can they be manufactured?
Feed buckets of sugar water syrup
Hello, thank you very much for responding. Does the bottom hole have a special mesh? Is it a water-repellent membrane? Or is it a simple plastic or synthetic polymer?
