My brother's Ugandan friend said back then that the Ugandan people believed at that time that the Israelites' army were, and I still believe, are the most intelligent people on earth. The role of the German members of the terrorists was so incredibly shameful that as a German you asked yourself whether no one here had learned anything from the time of the 3rd Reich. Back then, as a 14-year-old, I had the feeling that the time of the murderers would never end.

May the memories of those minority of righteous (Oster, Beck, Von Witzelben) live forever.

I remember that I was about three-and-a-half months away from turning seven years old -- while visiting the State of Maine with my family -- when on July 4th, 1976, it was announced on the radio every hour on the hour that Israeli commandos had successfully carried out an operation. Since I was quite young at the time, I really did not comprehend what the Israeli commandos had actually accomplished, but approximately three months after the rescue operation, at least two made for T.V. movies had been released that showed a recreation of the raid on Entebee, and after watching those movies I attained a true appreciation for what the Israeli special forces had in fact achieved.

Hatikvah 🇮🇱, and stationed in Germany when this happened and we were put on high alert, so many high jackings in the seventies. I wore a patch size flag of Israel on my civilian jacket and that's due to growing up in a neighborhood of hundreds of Jewish families and being the only Catholic family. I would go to Temple and we danced and celebrated as teenagers when the six day war was won and we got married in 1973 the Yom Kippur war and by Grace still married to the same beautiful woman whom I admire and love beyond words. Shalom

The American army pulled off a great hostage rescue in WWII in Burma. The Japanese had a POW camp there holding over 500 survivors from Corrigador. The Japanese were losing the war and to cover up their war crimes were executing the prisoner's of POW camps by burning them alive. Our soldiers attacked the camp and with very little loss of life rescued all the prisoners. It still the greatest rescue mission executed in U.S. military history. The movie The Great Raid tells the story.

there's a difference between rescuing a soldier and a civilian. A civilian is completely clueless on the procedure to under take while on the move, a captured soldier would do most of the movements by himself regardless of the state he is in.

This entebbe operation is still green in my memory thro newspapers those days.
That has also helped Israeli to take up this daring earth shaking mission to rescue the hostages in a silent and deadly ways from a far off land.
It shows the resilience of Israelis to go to any extent to save their country and citizens.
Now of course the time has come for the Israelis to show some diplomatic skills to live in.peace amongst Muslim neighbours.
Afterall Jews,Christians and Muslims are the descendants of Abrahamic order and lineage.

@@americaneaglescout1057 Was about to say, the extend that special forces like the SAS would go through to rescue their own citizens in even the most hostile situations is just unbelievable. And they don't even brag about it, it was only after the 1980 Iranian embassy siege in London that the public got to see what these lads were capable of. Applications to join the SAS went up in numbers never seen before, because it was the first time seeing the SAS in action was broadcasted live on TV.

We all watched 1st time reports came in that a plane hijacked air france We see the same young soldier who was part of such a brilliant rescue plan is the leader of Israel.. we believe he knows what to do best. Of his fellow soldiers are still their to assist. We trust his judgement he will do what's needed for Israel and to get the hostages home. The world must let them decide how to handle their affairs .They know best what's good for them.
