If you ain't enjoying it Charlie then you probably shouldn't do it that's what i always say. If i start getting stressed with the guitar i put it down walk away and pick it back up with a fresh head. So do what ever you enjoy.
That is what I do Lee, saying that I did get it fully up and running with all issues resolved yesterday so its not complete which is great. All issues are resolved and more importantly they are common issues so these will be good for another few years for the new owner. Its definitely best to switch up projects when 1 annoys me. Thanks for the advice mate.
That dna sounds decent! And I would definately say coils and spark plugs on er5, if plugs had fuel near them wouldn't have done any good... Great work Charlie!
The er5 is good to go now, tomorrow's vid will show the finish and the dna sounded great for a bit but then wouldn't start so more digging on that one.
My first big bike was a red er5 bought it off my landlord 800quid took it for a high speed run parked it up and next day it did same thing was running on 1 pot with spark and clean carbs I couldn’t get my head round it so I sold it ended up with a silver one few months later and was a great bike
Hi Jordan, I got mine sorted today with oem quality float valves and the petrol tap rebuild kit. So its all good to go now. I also popped out the plugs and gave them a clean.
Just found this vid today, my er5 fuel tap shat itself yesterday, it let the fuel freeflow, up the vacuum to the carb, into cylinder 2 and airbox, hydro locked the engine, drain it all today, flushed the oil, waiting on a tap rebuild kit coming, but now got the bike working fine with a external gravity fed tank
@@motorcyclerescuer I drained the oil today, i filled up the tank, the day before, i only drained 11 litres from the tank, so 6ltr is missing, air box was full, and so was cylinder 2, the rest was in the oil, ive put 6 litres of used oil through it, and left it sitting with the sump plug out, waiting on a new oil filter coming, ive only used premium e5, nowhere near me sells normal e5
@@motorcyclerescuer Also took the carbs back off, they were off a few weeks ago for a clean and built back up, i pressure tested them today, and fed them from a external gravity tank, they seal fine, just shows how much damage a bad fuel tap can do float seals and float were so good, the fuel went up the vacuum pipe, im gona put a one way valve in, and mod the airbox
Hey bud. My ER5 ran after doing the same work you have. No fuel leak now but it runs rough, won’t idle and kept cutting out. I think I’m going to try a carb balance next. If it’s still a nightmare, I’m going to set fire to it or savage it with an axe.
Ha ha I get that feeling alot. If your oil filled with fuel? Then your spark plugs will need cleaning. Next step would be pulling the plugs and cleaning them. Give that a shot. Let me know how it goes as I'm curious. Thanks.
We're discussing it. I guess the biggest pain is transporting it to Nat and then to Amanda could cost more then me throwing on some paint. We're trying to work it out. The bike stopped running yesterday so I also need to look into that first. I hope your well John.

Hello 👋, I need help. I was riding er500 for 30min or more on fuel tap position was on PRI or prime I believe.🥴☹ now fuel in oil and all over engine. What I should? do please help 🙏 And maybe you can explain how fuel tap working?
Hi, I've had this issue. The fuel over flows in the carbs and then falls into rhe oil. The oil becomes water like and can hydro lock the engine. So you need to rebuild your fuel tap using a rebuild kit on ebay. Normally around £30 And you need to change your oil to new fresh oil. Thats all you need to do and you will be back on the road again. I hope this helps Please subscribe

Hi i dont know if you still reply to questions but please can you tell me the 'ON' position on my fuel tap cuts out my engine? It wont even idle! PRI works but ive read not to ride in this position. Do i need to buy a rebuild kit?
Hi, the on position should work probably if the suction line is on and dosnt have any splits in it? It's best not to ride in prime although also ok if no fuel spills out when parked? I'm unsure if a rebuild kit will help because normally if they go bad they constantly become prime where as yours is holding fuel back.
@motorcycle rescuer hi this is the problem because the suction line is connected but there is no suction from the fuel tap! There is also no leaking when parked. So I don't think there is vacuum in the fuel tap maybe?
You can take these taps apart to have a look at them. But if it's running on prime and not leaking when parked then it's ok for now. If a rebuild kit is cheap enough then that's worth a try. You can disconnect the suction line and suck on it yourself, disconnect the fuel line and see if fuel comes out when you suck on the suction line. If it dosnt then the tap has an issue
@motorcycle rescuer thanks, I'll have another try. I think the diaphragm needs replacing. Do you know if I create a Manuel fuel tap what do I do with the carb suction line? Do I plug it with a closed tube?
Successful day at the garage ! Nice work Charlie 💪💯🛵

Sorry to hear that. None of the rebuild kits are e10 ready so once you rebuild it you will have to only use e5 premium.

Yes you would just plug the suction line. A bolt or something pushed in will do that.
