I think this showcases perfectly what the helldivers devs have been speaking about recently. People don’t understand for some reason that these game devs are MAKING A GAME THAT THEY LOVE TO PLAY, at a certain point it probably feels like they’re making the game for themselves.
While it's nice to see "average" gameplay, it's also nice to see that learning the game and improving can result in very satisfying high level gameplay, as that's the carrot on stick that many aspire to. Having some level of higher skilled gameplay to push for in each fight, and the satisfaction you get when you do it and then do it more consistently.
I feel like a lot of people underestimate how common this is in game development. Enemy designers spend months working on one boss. Tuning every value, refining the decision points of the behavior tree. You know how it decides every attack. And when you work on an enemy. You spend 8 hours a day fighting it. Over and over again, making small tweaks every fight. So yeah, it’s cool that this dude could do this off the rip on stage. But I would like to highlight that this is pretty common. Most enemy designers I have worked with. They have their enemy behaviors burned into their brains forever.
You know how a lot of studios say their games are "made by gamers for gamers", well this one actually proved it. This is the first time I actually believe myself not as good as a dev. haha, love it!

Which is the same type of throwback as it is here ;P
thats the dev you wanna have working on your game
Okay, I'm going to get this game when it comes out now. I've been convinced by this display alone.
This is why their games are good. They ACTUALLY play their game with precision. So they see the pitfalls in their design and fix them.
Man I lowkey hope Ongbal gets to try this i know he's a souls player but this feels right up there with the parries and precise dodges of gameplay.
DUDE I DIDNT KNOW YOU COULD PARRY!! I watched the first trailer of this game only because of spoilers. Holy shit I can’t wait to master parrying
Max is such a good gameplay host
Max is such a person who sold himself to SE. That says enough about him as a person lol
@@gamerforlife3946 Sure buddy and someone calling himsel "Gamer For Life" surely isn't a hateful Incel.
@@gehtdichnichtsan2418 I don’t think you know what “incel” means lol
@@gamerforlife3946 I mean his favorite game is FFVII. So I’d be very supportive as well. Not to mention grateful.
@@holitinne He isn’t normal supportive, SE is just sponsoring him now. Meaning he will only compliment and appraise, he will never criticise
The boss thought he was Jin Wuu...
Then he fought Igris.
I think this showcases perfectly what the helldivers devs have been speaking about recently. People don’t understand for some reason that these game devs are MAKING A GAME THAT THEY LOVE TO PLAY, at a certain point it probably feels like they’re making the game for themselves.
This reminds me of that meme that went around of them having to nerf a fight for the players because the developers were too skilled lmao.
P8S in FFXIV. 😨
That's actually what happened in the FFXIV team lol, same division as the one who made FFXVI
Well he is also DMC "Combat" dev , so yeah thats why he is so good cause he has motivation and royal gaurd😅
lets be honest, no stylish game can compare to how hard DMC 3-4-5 can dance. specially the special editions.
Oh, so THIS is what it looks like when the devs play their own game. That's wild
This was it. This was the video that now confirms I will buy the game. Heading to Gamu Stoppu to get physical.
Dev is the storm that is
A P P R O A C H I N G ! ! ! 🗡
I love that there are different ways to parry an attack
I've never been a fan of FF but i always saw my late gramps play it before he passed away, ill give this one a try in his name.
This deffo was no "average" gameplay, this is the same studio that nerfed a boss bc their test team was so good it ended up overtuned lol
@@Malam_NightYoruAnd with staff from Capcom, Platinum as well as Kingdom Hearts 4.
I just know he was hearing "SWORDTRICKGUNTRICKSWORDTRICKSWORDGUNTRICKSWORDROYALSWORDGUNROYALGUARD
This is how it SHOULD be. Mad respect to him.
Asmon won't be able to do this 😂
Combat director for a fucking reason. Goddamn.
Asmon not gonna play like this guys, hes gonna find one move and spam it the entire game😊
Gamers will always take the path of least resistance hence why they play meta build in solo rpg
The montages that are gonna come from this game will be glorious
I feel like a lot of people underestimate how common this is in game development.
Enemy designers spend months working on one boss. Tuning every value, refining the decision points of the behavior tree. You know how it decides every attack.
And when you work on an enemy. You spend 8 hours a day fighting it. Over and over again, making small tweaks every fight.
So yeah, it’s cool that this dude could do this off the rip on stage. But I would like to highlight that this is pretty common. Most enemy designers I have worked with. They have their enemy behaviors burned into their brains forever.
Dude just by watching clive moves like that i feel like a badaas
This is why we all love these devs man. They actually play their game.
You know how a lot of studios say their games are "made by gamers for gamers", well this one actually proved it. This is the first time I actually believe myself not as good as a dev. haha, love it!
Literally that one moment when your big brother takes the controller.
I would love it if back then we could've seen Symphony of the Night devs beating the bosses without getting hit.
Man really came in like "I built this house." and proceeded to tear the boss down all the way to the foundations.
All of us: "Wow, this dev is so skilled! Nice!"
That dev: "Fools, I'm the God of this game's world, and this isn't even my final form."
No fucking way we found the one dev that actually understands how to play his own game
"Can you beat this fight?"
"Of course I can, I created it."
Literal Gigachad Game Dev
Bro said I am not just a dev. I am also a gamer
Reminds me of the PoE dev that won a race event lmao
When the dev actually knows how to play their games in a manner that doesn't make your backseat cringe you have me sold.
Im here because i just watched two blizzard designers play D4. Thank you for renewing my hope.
You merely adopted the dark. I however.......😈
Bro was like "i made the game and i am the gamer myself"
Wow that actually looks cool as fuck, wasn't even considering getting the game until now
Same here. Looks dope asf!
It’s not just some fighting game. It’s as much about the story and characters if not more. Play the demo to be sure
