Hey Ang & Cody another great video. I am starting my 5th year in my 337 reflection. I like you have not had any structional issues at all. And all my trim mouldings are perfect. The skylight had a crack from a screw that was to tight. Warranty replaced it. The fridge had to be replaced after 7 months. Warranty again. But the water heater developed pin hole leaks in the aluminum. Even after i flushed it twice a year. Missed the warranty period. PITA to replace. A few minor things replaced. KNOCK ON WOOD! Ang is awesome. From the second time she did the knock on wood until the end she just cracks me up. You guys are so good for each other. She's a keeper! Take care, Mike B
After pulling my wagon around since I was 3 and now 73. I have learned a few tricks. The one thang that will screw up your trailer is to let your trailer tires go unbalanced. The vibration will cause all kinds of problems. Ice box open, screws from some where found on the floor, faucets leak, cabinet doors opened, leaf springs hangers break, and the lists just gets longer the more I type. Can you balance your trailer tires NO you can not. The best upgrade for that is a set of centromatic wheel balancers. This will greatly improve your tire life. All the screws, nut, bolt, and cheap glue will thank you for giving them a smother ride. The cost is small compared the damage of a unbalanced tire. When was the last time you had your tires balanced??? Centromatic wheel balancers will balance your tires every time you hit the road. Its worth looking into. Love you channel
Thank you! Discount Tire used the stick on weights for ours when we got them earlier this year. We've been really lucky inside the trailer. Other than our fridge door which pops open some times (pretty common with the Furion fridge) & a drawer popping open here and there we've been in pretty good shape (knock on wood)
Thanks for your casual, no ego delivery style. Over 50 years of RVing, I have found that the most problem prone timeframe is the first 6 months of a new RVs lifetime. Please ensure that you eventually get to RV in Oregon. Without question our favourite state. Thanks for another great video.
2025!! We don’t have plans set yet, but we will likely hit the West Coast and upper East Coast. We will put out some of our plans in an upcoming episode (end of July maybe). Then maybe we can get some good ideas! 😊 Some of the pictures and ideas that we have saved from Oregon looks amazing!
Good video, guys. I think a lot of people are sick of the negative videos. And I think the comments on this video show that. Having said that...I sure hope you didn't just jinx yourself! 😉
Thank you Cody. That's 1 of the biggest concerns that I'm having. When I decided to make this goal happen it was just me. Now I have a great guy coming. However I'm 57 & he's 70. I still want to get out of these sticks & bricks. We're definitely not handy, but we're going to go anyway. 🖐️🤯👍
You shouldn’t let it stop you for sure! There are so many great videos and forums out there that can dig into issues with you, where you can TRY some things. Plus some great classes out there. We wish that we would’ve taken advantage of some when we were laid off work.
Cody thank you for this video you are right things do go wrong and break. We have been weekend warriors for over 20 years have had three different brands of RVs. And have issues with each one but we over came and repaired them. We are planing a trip out west after watching y’all’s videos and we are making upgrades and repairs to our fifth wheel. Also I have been a Chevy man all my life but after looking into the different truck and what they offer I got a 2019 Ram 3500 with the Cummins engine. From all my homework this truck stood out the best. So thank y’all for another great video.
Ram definitely has a big advantage. They're still high but much more cost effective than the other two. They're slick trucks! I used to be a Chevy guy prior to Ford but never anything in the heavy duty category. If I had to buy one today it would be the Ford or a Ram I think. They're all good trucks. Issue is, the manufacturers know it and price accordingly haha
Great video guys!! It's very refreshing to hear something positive for a change, so much negativity out there, I also am about to go fulltime in my GD Reflection Travel Trailer, thank you guys, love watching your videos every week.
Excellent video. We have had similar issues with our 2022 Solitude in two years of full timing. We agree completely with your statements in this video. Very well said. Our only difference is right after we bought our rig we failed to use our checklist when unhitching. Like you, we pulled the 7-pin cord off. But unfortunately, it started a small electrical fire in the front compartment. It fried all kinds or wiring and a few hydraulic lines. Over $14k mistake (thanks for insurance). But you learn from your mistakes and we religiously use our checklists. Biggest upgrade we did was the MoRyde independent suspension with disc brakes. Expensive but well worth it. Please keep up the great videos!
Thank you! I'm so jealous of that independent rear suspension /disc brake combo. I hear great things about that setup. I had a Grand Design tech tell me a story similar to yours with the light cable so that was the first thing I checked. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have thought of it. I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you! I wish they would make a breakaway cable of some sort that doesn't impact the trailer.
Thanks for the video! We just loaded our camper and heading out after work tomorrow, getting away from the house and all the things that go with being a homeowner. I agree, the good out weighs the bad and we have been blessed to be able to RV. God Bless and safe travels!
So very glad that Grand Design took care of your issues, you don’t hear a lot of that. Y’all have a positive attitude which really helps in the rv living. Angie, you make Cody’s serious side fun and your antics and facial expressions are priceless! I’ve been researching for over a year and a half, just haven’t found the perfect one yet. Did order a Ford F450 last month!
Thank you so much for that! We all have our rough days but a positive attitude sure helps. I'm sorry to say we haven't ordered a truck yet. Prices are still too elevated but it's on the radar!
Wow, 32 states! Yes, things will break when driving your house down the road. Love your sticker board! We are still trying to figure out where we want to put our stickers. Very cute when Cody talks about things that haven't broken, Angela is knocking on wood! 🤣 It is so true, whether you own a house or a RV, you will have maintenance and repairs. - Michelle
So very well said Cody. Glad your RV has only provided you with the common issues that every brand provides to everyone. Our Grande Design Momentum has been a very good rig for us too, even though we had Frame Failure - which I found a TX Welding & RV Repair shop to do for me (cost me $6000) but I’m of the opinion that ownership of ANYTHING comes with risk. If you don’t want problems, then don’t own anything. Like you guys, we’ve also just marked our 2 year full time experience and if we weren’t doing this we’d be sitting at a sticks n bricks not seeing all the great places this continent has to offer and not meeting all the great folks along the way. Problems are to be expected in this life style of traveling. Can you imagine the problems and adventures all them folks had travelling the Oregon trail ? Today’s travellers are dealing with a lot less problems than they did.
What a great video. Angela you crack me up.😂😂 Good to see a video with a positive attitude. Some need to realize Stuff happens. I have owned several campers in my 84. Never owned one that didn’t need me to fix something at times. Usually when I fixed it, it was better than before.
The number of issues encountered with an RV is much greater than any issue we’ve encountered when we owned a home - and RV repairs are so much more expensive.
Cody has a great point... buy a product designed at the lowest cost then drag it down our neglected highways and things are going to break. If you want an RV w/o issues, camp in the driveway :)
Thanks for the video….i tell people if you enjoy RVing, you need to also enjoy RV repair, because things will break as you say. I just embrace it and approach it from “ how can I make this better?” One nice thing about a camper is I can usually fix it as most things on it are still pretty simple - unlike the truck we tow it with LoL.
You're spot on about the truck! I've been pretty luck so far with my Ford in terms of minor repairs & maintenance but if those electronic gremlins ever creep up on me I'm toast! :)
Thank you for this video! The wife and I are 14 months away from retirement and we plan on hitting the road. But in the past year I have ingested a lot of negativity especially with Grand Design. Up until now GD has been off the list. We are spending our vacation in Deadwood SD, and on the drive out we were noticing all the different RV’s and there is a lot of GD’s out there so there must be a lot of folks that are weathering the RV life just fine. Maybe I will reconsider GD as we look for our RV. We are very excited for our next chapter and most timing in our RV. My wife was skeptical of full time RV life, but as she has watched your videos she is changing her mind. So I look at your videos as a blessing.
It’s hard to make the right decision. I honestly don’t know what our next rig would be, but this one has a lot of the “kinks” out of it and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Ha!
We bought a new Jayco 5th wheel almost 2 years ago. Jayco has been great as well as our dealer, Couch Family RV. Items replaced include a new 12 volt refrigerator, tail light, cabinet door, and a brand new roof. Yes, the roof was replaced on,y 1 year in. Jayco has never denied a claim and our dealer never kept our unit more than a few weeks, even when they replaced the roof. Thanks for the “positive” message!
We bought our 28’ Salem FSX Toy Hauler 2021. I have yet to take it back to the dealer…I just fix the minor repairs myself. I did blow up the 12 volt system hooking the camper to my F150 Powerboost 7200 watt onboard generator. The sad part was I had the reducer plug 4 prong to 3 prong laying next to the truck bed outlet but forgot to use. I replaced the 12 volt panel myself, what a job that was. We love our simple camper and will never buy another. While parked in our yard a branch fell on roof, crushed a solar panel and put a baseball size hole in the roof. One more thing to fix!! Thank for sharing your camper problems.
Hey nothing wrong with the occasional out of order video LoL. I'm like 4 or 5 behind. We have had our fair share of problems with our RV. Best advise I can give is learning to fix as much on your own. I am actually looking at going to the RV mechanic school here in Texas. Friend of mine has the Gen Y and loves it. I want to go with the Gen Y also.
Haha! We regret that we didn’t take advantage of some of those classes, when we were laid off. They have made it too easy now. A lot of people like the Gen Y, but we’ve also heard that the hitch point can cause concern on the rig. 🤷♀️ Pullrite has been good for us and has been around a while. They have a style called a ball and cuppler style (OEX brand I believe), so you get up to 80 degrees turning, but it seems more stable and sits at a good hitching height, for a good rig support. It may be worth checking out. They let us play with one recently and that baby was solid!
@@RVUntethered Hmm I will have to check that one out . I’m also a firm believer of if the Pullrite is working good for you nothing wrong with staying with it. We’ve been running the Andersen Ultimate because it was free when we bought the trailer. It’s been great so far but I would like to go to possibly a B&W companion or the Gen Y. Also looked at the Reece Goose Box since I believe Lippert endorses it and say it won’t void the warranty.
Oh my! I’m not the only one! At koa in Cincinnati I was in a hurry and after putting the truck in neutral to take pressure off hitch I forgot to put it back in park and was on a slight slope and pulled the electric cord from the Pin Box. I caught it fast enough but I was a little upset with myself… no major issues yet 2022 RLS337. I try not to fret or worry… but I do love full time RVing. 4 plus years. I’m curious about having a base location with a cabin/cabana or small home in case we need one. Similar to your two, AK and IL. As usual loved your video!
Thank you! I guess when you drive and tow as much as we do, things are bound to happen but the easy ones really get me grumbling haha. Fast forward to now and my temp fix has become permanent!
You guys should hit up new england. Specially maine , beautiful state and absolutely amazingggg food. Love new hampshire also. Lived in both places for a year each in the rv.
Yes! We are heading East in the next few weeks, but we won’t go too far North. I think 2025 is the year that we get the West Coast states and the Upper New England states marked off. So excited!
😁 2025!!!! We don’t have plans yet, but we’re thinking it’s time to knock the rest of those lower 48 off! Which means the West Coast and the upper East Coast.
@@RVUntethered @JamesandPaulsRVAdventures have been staying at some BEAUTIFUL sites in California this last month. They've even found ways of including boating!
Good video - does your bedroom slide have rollers under it - our Solitude was built without rollers - I added them myself recently - slide is much smoother and faster now. Also, all of the GD Reflections, Solitudes and Momentums were built with not all of the upper deck frame holes willed with lag screws, and the screws were 3/8” instead of 1/2” (size frame holes were drilled). Highly recommend adding the missing lag screws and replacing the 3/8” ones with 1/2” ones. GD has a TSB on this as well. This will strengthen the sidewall to upper deck frame connections and prevent future issues (we had issues on our 2021 with this caused by the smaller lag screws - noticed rub marks on bedroom furniture caused by failing connection - was missing 6 out of 14 total lag screws …)
Hey Mark thanks for the recommendation on the lag screws. That’s a big topic right now. We do have small slide rollers on the Schwintech slide in the bedroom. Knock on wood we’ve had good luck with that slide so far.
I totally get what you are saying. But I’ve been on the road full-time boondocking for over 2 1/2 years. If I had 1/3 of the issues you’ve had, I would have quit. Glad you are looking at tge glass half full. Ang-you are hot.
I think about that a lot. Anything you have, there will be things to fix, but I think about the people that are brand new and how it could ruin the whole experience for them.
We have a GD also, so far we have had no major issues. And we like Ford we have a 2018 F350 LB-SRW, and so far is been a pleasurable experience and nice to drive. I will say, DO NOT back up and brake a brake light, or a tail light. We have the one with the radar sensor in it. Yes, I did break it. And no, I have not fixed it yet. It an over $2000 a piece item, expensive suckers from Ford. And Girl, you are funny. Pulling up your shorts while waiting in ankle deepwater. Well a leg shot .
$2k for a tail light. Sheesh. I'll counter that with not letting a chain break and send itself shooting into the tailgate. Don't ask me how I know! Nearly $3k on that one lol
BIKE RACK? Hi what size is your hitch on trailer, ours is only 1 1/4” and we have the same bikes as you. We are trying to figure out what to get or if we need to do Something with the hitch? Just started out this April! Patti and Robin from Canada
Interesting! Ours is a 2” receiver hitch. I suspect that there are adapters, but I would see what weight you are rated for first. There may be a reason that it is smaller?? Our weight requirement was on a sticker on the hitch, or maybe it is in the owners manual. With our smaller bikes, we got a smaller-weighted Swagman rack, so it works. But check that receiver FIRST! Good luck!! 👍
Not sure about other states but here, every rig on the lot has stickers “Not for full time living. Recreational use only.” I would think that would be a dead giveaway that these things are not going hold up.
We stayed at Newberry Campground in Newberry, MI. Ot was a decent little campground . It has been a couple of years but I remember the sites were a little unlevel. Staff was nice. We were still new to the full time rv travel piece of it. We stayed there three weeks and drove everywhere and everything is so far away! I would do it differently next time. I would move more and travel less distances. Our friends FairWinds RV just got done traveling the UP and they found some boondocking and state parks that looked great!
Knocking on wood for you! 😉🫶. Our last trip out was rough for us, good to get a reminder about all those fabulous memories we’ve made over the years. 😊☺️

We love our simple camper and will never buy another. While parked in our yard a branch fell on roof, crushed a solar panel and put a baseball size hole in the roof. One more thing to fix!! Thank for sharing your camper problems.
Oh goodness! It’s always exciting, right?!
@@RVUntethered Definitely!
Pullrite has been good for us and has been around a while. They have a style called a ball and cuppler style (OEX brand I believe), so you get up to 80 degrees turning, but it seems more stable and sits at a good hitching height, for a good rig support. It may be worth checking out. They let us play with one recently and that baby was solid!
Sorry, it’s the OEX super lite ball & funnel.
Dangerous video, good luck! Thank you!
Right?!
So excited!
Also, 5:18 when oh when will the west coast get Untethered!? Come on, we need some California action!
Great video!😊
Thanks!
Great positive video. What e-bike lock are you using? We just bought 2 e-bikes. Researching what bike locks people like.
Thanks
Thank you! Embarrassingly enough, we use cheap cable locks from Walmart. When they're on the rack the Swagman locks them down
Good video - does your bedroom slide have rollers under it - our Solitude was built without rollers - I added them myself recently - slide is much smoother and faster now.
Etrailer will help you on the bed plug in unit.
I think we are good now . It was concerning, but in fairness that video was filmed months ago and has held up! Fingers crossed!
We are trying to figure out what to get or if we need to do
Something with the hitch? Just started out this April! Patti and Robin from Canada
Interesting! Ours is a 2” receiver hitch. I suspect that there are adapters, but I would see what weight you are rated for first. There may be a reason that it is smaller?? Our weight requirement was on a sticker on the hitch, or maybe it is in the owners manual.
With our smaller bikes, we got a smaller-weighted Swagman rack, so it works. But check that receiver FIRST!
Good luck!! 👍
Cody call RockAuto you can talk to a person and they ship fast
Thank you! I think we’re good for now, but I used Rock Auto a few times and you’re right! They are pretty great!
Any pointers on replacing the seat heater? Mine went bad and GD sent me a new element. Thanks.
😂😂
Not sure about other states but here, every rig on the lot has stickers “Not for full time living. Recreational use only.”
I would think that would be a dead giveaway that these things are not going hold up.
True!
Could you tell me where you stayed while in the UP of Michigan??
We stayed at Newberry Campground in Newberry, MI. Ot was a decent little campground . It has been a couple of years but I remember the sites were a little unlevel. Staff was nice.
We were still new to the full time rv travel piece of it. We stayed there three weeks and drove everywhere and everything is so far away! I would do it differently next time. I would move more and travel less distances.
Our friends FairWinds RV just got done traveling the UP and they found some boondocking and state parks that looked great!
@RVUntethered I thought so. We stayed there a couple of years ago. Nice, quiet place.
Will yall be at Hershey?
We sure will! We plan on attending Friday and Saturday and we have a Meet and Greet on Saturday @ 2:30.
Yay 1st!
😂😂
Knocked
😁
You are jinxing yourself, FYI.
😬😬
Ok your fault... not gd..you failed
Knocking on wood for you! 😉🫶. Our last trip out was rough for us, good to get a reminder about all those fabulous memories we’ve made over the years. 😊☺️
Thank you! ☺️
