The Ram Big Horn needs a train horn!
😂😂
Happy Camping
Oh goodness! 🙋♀️I said NO. 😁
“Is that Hemi?” is damn funny!
I knew this video had to be coming!! Truck accessories really never end. Thanks for sharing.
😂It’s true!
I almost went with the Ram for the Cummins but wound up going with the 2024 GMC 3500 Duramax Denali long bed dually . The went with the rollup aluminum bed cover because I added a Titan 50 gallon auxiliary fuel tank and works good to access it. We are new to the rv life and bought a 38 ft. Montana Legacy 3531RE. Loving it so far other than the fix and repair part of it but we knew that was part of it . Enjoy your new truck and we’ll keep watching your great videos.
Thank you for the kind words! The auxiliary tanks are SO nice to have!
I have been watching your videos for a few months and I just have to say, I love the two of you! I will be a FT female solo traveler in the near future and I have been honing in on the Ram 2500 diesel. Got to admit though, I do like the bells and whistles, so, looking at the Laramie. I am not mechanically minded (being a 70 year old woman puts me at a disadvantage), but I do appreciate all the info on your truck. Angie, I love your zest for life and the joy you exude in all of your videos. Cody, you remind me of my late husband, stern, but tolerant, and so in love with your wife! Thank you both for all the information and fun you provide!
Thank you for the kind words! That’s so nice! 😊😊
Cody is VERY patient and tolerant. 😁 💁♀️But he was strong enough to marry me, so I figure that he is strong enough to follow through!
That’s awesome to hear that you’re hitting the road! Safe travels!!
The new truck is awesome, and so exciting. CONGRATULATIONS
Thank you so much!
Men and their trucks!🤣🤣 When my husband gets a new truck the boxes just keep arriving, so much cardboard to get rid of. But he does make them look better and more comfortable for us and the pitiful, neglected pups!🤣🤣🤣 The running boards usually are to accommodate the wife. Hope you enjoy it with safe travels!
🤣 That’s so true! The pups have to be comfortable!
We love our RAM!
Awesome! I can’t wait to really see what it can do!
We love our dodge mega cab! ❤
Love how yall do your videos. Yall are informative without being boring! Keep up the good work.
That’s so nice, thank you!
@RVUntethered I am terrible about commenting on videos because I always watch on the TV but I am trying to do better 😂
Also want to add that we love y’all’s videos! Keep it up and we’ll keep watching. Y’all stay safe out there!!! 🥰
Thank you! 🥰
We’re eating Mexican right now. The wife is having the chimichanga.
I went with the Laramie but only the standard output. Price was unbeatable just had to fly across the country to pick it up. The Weathertech mud flaps are a great addition as well. Super easy to install and have worked great so far.
Hilarious! When you get a good deal, you have to jump on it! 😆
enjoying your truck excitement! beautiful choice.
Thank you so much! ☺️
Diesel truck needs the train horn no exceptions lol. Just spent a week in Mountain Home AR visiting my brother, we fished both Norfork Lake and Bull Shoals Lake both very nice lakes. Such a pretty state enjoyed every minute.
Those are both beautiful lakes! I’m so glad that you got to enjoy a little Arkansas beauty!
🙋♀️I shut down the train horns! 😆
Like you stated Cody, every truck has it's advantages and disadvantages. I'm going with the Ford f-450 due to my wife's experience with trailers. The tighter turning radius and big brakes with help her.
That turning radius WAS nice! I battled on this one.
I just bought the same truck with night edition and 12" screen about a month ago. I already have 9000 miles on it (I do RV transport). I love the truck, but I'm envious of your fuel mileage. I'm only getting about 14.7 unloaded and 9.2 towing my 42' Reflection 370fls. I'm wondering if the fact that I have a huge rock guard on the back (required for RV transport) is hurting my gas mileage that bad. I also have a 118 gallon auxiliary fuel tank and loaded up tool box in the bed. That weight probably isn't helping. There are great deals on the Rams right now and that's why I chose it. I'm with you on these six figure trucks being insane.
The best part of a new truck is outfitting it. Great video, thanks!
Right?! The fun stuff!
Luv the doggie tail wagging as you’re driving Ol Brown!😊
They LOVE Old Brown! 😁 We just have to watch Eris with all of the squirrels!
Loved your video and thought process in selecting your new 2024 Ram Diesel--you will love the diesel and jake brake especially in the mountains. I own a 2021 Chevy Silverado HD 2500HD High County and love all the features as well as the POWER! I own a 2019 Flagstaff Super-Lite (dry at 6400 lbs and 30 feet long). There are times, I don't even feel the RV behind my 2500HD. Enjoy your new truck and keep up the updates on your adventures--you are helping so many of us with your common sense and experiences.
PS, Angela, we love our heated and cool seats, but did you get the heated steering wheel--best feature yet!
Thank you for the kind words!
Cody LOVES the heated steering wheel. He talks about it a lot in the mornings! 😁 It’s funny the things we get spoiled to!
Congrats on the new truck. I have owned two Ram trucks a 2019 and 2022. Can’t beat that inline 6. Way less moving parts than the 8 cylinders and the Cummins is really easy to work on. Ram, in my opinion, has the best engine brake out there for now. Maintenance is key on those Cummins. I believe if you treat it right it will treat you right. I always changed out my crank case filter every 30k even though the book says it’s changed every 67,500 miles. Just liked to do it since my trucks had a lot of towing miles on them. My 2019 has 400k on the clock and runs as good as the day I bought it new. If you’re looking to save a few bucks on maintenance items for your Ram check out Genos Garage or Docs Diesel. Both have really good deals for Cummins items. My wife and I have recently gone full time living and bought a bigger FW toyhauler and a new GMC dually for extra stability for the heavy hitch weight of the new trailer. So far the only complaint of the new truck is the engine brake. Doesn’t work near as good as the Ram. Good luck on y’all’s journey and maybe one day we will cross paths.
200k!!! That’s incredible! We ARE super excited about the exhaust brake. I didn’t think about there being less moving parts.
I had heard of ONE of those places for parts, but thank you for putting it down here for others to see too. It’s all great information!
Hey guys 👋 😃,
Congratulations on your truck. Sure is pretty. I love how well the 2 of you work together. Get job!
"Dream Team". ❤ the doggies ❤
Awe how nice! 😊
Hey guys
I use a Pullrite as well ,love it !! I recoomended instead of spraying your 5th wheel plate buy a reese friction disc , you can get 8,10 or 12" they are great and I've had mine on 3 years still works great and no damage on 5th wheel plate or pin box . Very much enjoy your chanel ,keep it going .

Thank you for the kind words!
We have been contemplating the Teflon plates, now that we don’t have the slider.
It seems sometimes that buying the truck is the cheap part...then come the accessories. I bought my running boards from Rough Country and I love them. It took a hot min to understand the instructions and figure out the right hole to mount to the truck, but they do look great. One thing I would look at doing though is get a spray in bed liner..From going from one with out and now one with, they are worth their cost. The worst maintenance I did on my Ram was change the fuel filters!!! Esp the rear one...I never figured out how to do it without dripping fuel down my arm. But my Ram CTD was great for us at the time.
This is true!
I dread the fuel filters for that reason. I figure I’ll just plan to take a shower afterwards! 🤣
The first mod I do, especially if you're getting in and out like a boat ramp, is 'disable the seat belt chime'. Lots of YT how-to videos for Ram
Oh man I am going to check that out! I can’t stand it! 😆
Great show You have a great looking truck Being full time I think you made a great choice I tow with a f250 Powerstroke pull a 2017 open range roamer travel trailer 12000 lb
Thank ya! I’m excited to see what it can do.
We tow our Brinkley with a 2024 Ram 3500 diesel Mega cab and love it. I appreciate hearing your feedback on your new truck.
Excellent! You will laugh to hear how many miles that we have put on it already. 😆 It has been great so far, but I’m anxious to really see how they compare.
Nice truck! We pull our large 5er with a 2018 RAM 3500 CTD-HO. We chose the 3.42 rear end for running west at interstate speeds with better fuel economy. -j
That makes total sense!
We tow with a Ram 2500 long bed with the 6.4 Hemi. Tons of payload. We can haul just about anything with our travel trailer.
Excellent!
10K! Woohoo!!
😊
I think your mistake on the air horn was asking for ang's blessing before installing it.
🤦🏼♀️Oh man! I just can’t! He will tell you that he didn’t get to use it anyways! 😆 What he MEANS is that he didn’t get to use it for road rage.
You probably already know this, but if you use tow/haul mode and exhaust brake at the same time, it will really slow the truck down 👍🏻🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
I HAVE noticed! I am LOVING these features!
I went with a RAM 3500 long bed SRW to pull our Solitude. Still deciding how to outfit it fully, but we did go with a full length running board, helps with access to the bed from in front of the rear wheels. You might consider the flip out step that pops out from under the bumper for when you climb up into the bed.
We have one of those flip out steps under the rear bumper, and my husband uses it every time we hitch or unhitch the 5th wheel. Very worthwhile “accessory.”
I think you’re right on the step. They are a bit more expensive than I expected, but I can see that being pretty valuable. It’s a heck of a lot better of a setup than the tailgate steps!
We went with a 2020 Ram 3500 DRW Diesel to pull our Brinkley. It only had 68 thousand miles( barely broke in) We looked at new, but this is a Laramie ( with the small screen) and was well maintained. Our maiden voyage was from Greenville SC to Portland Oregon and back to take care of a family member. I could not be happier. I have done an oil change and I got a service message which turned to be the EVC filter, it was fairly easy to replace. I am sure you will be showing that when the time comes.
Our first oil change will come sooner than later. I’m not exactly sure what that filter does, but it will all be a learning experience!
@@RVUntethered it’s the breather for your crank case. It’s 8 bolts to remove it. It’s a 8mm socket except the 3 in the back because it holds a wiring harness, you will need a 8 mm wrench for those. I think it is required every 25k. It took about 20 minutes to change.
@@mikewadams1Oh okay! Thanks!
I bought new, a 2010 Ram 3500 Cummins, crew, with 8ft bed. No dually. I still have it with 170,000 miles. I pulled 36ft 5th wheel for 14 years. Truck never let me down. Biggest repair cost was a $2400 oil leak. Only disappointment is how easy this truck dents. I used it mostly in the Rocky Mountains West. Lots of up and down roads. 8mpg was common. 17mpg highway speed when not pulling. Great timing on this video, I'm looking at replacing cosmetic items. Glad to hear about Real truck. I would like to replace rear bumper. Any idea where to find one? Great video, will be using your links.
This is great information, thank you!
Honestly, I’m not sure on the bumper and I’m hoping I don’t find out too soon. I know that Realtruck.com had options for upgraded-style bumpers, as I was looking at those.
As for stock, I wonder if a junk yard or local body shop may be able to get you a good deal?
The Def makes less mileage & more Fuel usage.... once warranty is gone Delete & add Banks Monster Ram. Adds Crazy Mileage & Power.
We will see! 😃
excellent choice love my ram , don't forget fuel additives 😎
Thank ya! Any kind that you recommend?
@@RVUntethered ive been using hot shot for many years and recently switch archoil imo both are good product. also I use it for a piece of mind of having my fuel system lubricated not for mpg gain
I’ll try again hopefully Angela reads this. We need a train horn. 😂😂😂😂
🤦🏼♀️We’re not playing train horns again! 😂
Great video When you going to put on the air horn . God Bless
😆😆🙋♀️I shut it down!
Will you be traveling to Texas anytime to visit Kevin, Alicia, and the kids? Do you have air horns on new truck? Much ❤ stay safe
Aux 1. Train horn. Big rigs need proper warning devices... And a big horn needs, well, a big. Horn.
🤣🤣Ang would disagree! I didn’t get to use it much anyways!
Did your new truck come with the 360 camera system ? I have the 2019 Ram laramie with the 8.4 screen and it didn't so I had to add a front facing solar camera . Also have you looked at the RAM Mount Phone Holder for the center of your dash where your 12v plug is ? Amazon and some other places carry them . Great looking truck I went from a GMC to the Ram and have had no problems .
I have seen the phone mounts that look nice, but we don’t use our phones for navigation much.
Thank you for the encouragement. I’m excited to see how it does over time. We like the 360 camera (and I would love the front camera at least), but this one didn’t come with it. Maybe it’s a step or two up?
Hey Guys, we have a new GMC At4 Duramax2023. We have had many problems. We are looking at the Ram big horn, dually. Scott liked yours. What was the turning point for you. We had a Denali before the Gmc and loved it.
I ment Laramie
It started with a bunch of viewers and in-person discussions that we’ve had with RV owners. The difference in price and willingness to sell them, got me to the lot. I didn’t expect much to be honest. In fact, I thought that it would get the Ram out of my head and I could make a decision.
The first drive surprised me and kind of sealed the deal. We’ll see how it does over time! 😊
I’m getting little over 11 mpg in my F350 diesel towing. I don’t drive it much when not towing. I really like my roll up cover too. I can lock it in any position. So when u buying an air horn? My wife will help me do projects but isn’t as happy as Angela is lol. But then I used adult words too when doing them. 😀
Nice!
Ang says no to another air horn! ☹️ She never really let me use it anyways! 😆😆
Love the new truck. Quick question…..how is the comfort level? We are looking into an HDT for purposes of safety and comfort. Our existing 2021 Ram 2500 HD HEMI 4x4 is brutal beyond 3 hours. Are the new 3500’s more comfortable?
The ride is very smooth, both loaded and unloaded, while the Ford was a bit rougher empty. HOWEVER, it’s an odd comparison because in my experience, any time that you stretch out the bed length, you get a better ride. The Ford was a short bed and the Ram a long bed.
I was hoping you had pulled the air horn out of the Ford and reinstall on the Ram. Knowing the boss let you buy one once, she probably will shut down another purchase. They are great for the Hwy when someone is coming into your lane.
We love our RC seat covers but they are a pain to put on.
Right?! We had to play a LOT of music over our talking, for those! 🤣
Question? Why didn't you just unlock the 4 pucks and flip the hitch around to get the hitch over the axle? Then you just flip the head around and you don't have to unbolt the plate. Am I missing something?
Your millage will get better as the engine gets broken in.
I suspect you’re right!
Love the truck. I have to ask how was the drive with the 5th wheel hooked up to it was it as smooth as the ford for the distance you drove it? Meaning were the seats as comfortable for the driving distance? How does it compare to the ford?
I’m in the market for HD truck and I between a Dodge and a Chevy HD. Thanks. A.Fan
So far, we have towed 700 miles and I believe that the ride is a lot smoother. It also drives better empty. The interior has surpassed our expectations.
With that being said, I can’t make a direct comparison. Our F350 was an SRW and a short bed. The Ram is a DRW with a long bed. In my experience, the longer the vehicle, the smoother the ride. You can’t go wrong with either choice, or as far as we can tell. I’m anxious to see how they compare over time.
The Ram is going to last. Not un common to go a million miles. I went from a V6 Dakota to a 5.7 1500 now in a 2500 Cummins. Love going through truck stops for fuel plenty of room to turn and such.
That’s insane! The comments are definitely what got us to even look at Ram, but we’re liking it so far!
I think you're missing an opportunity to weave in the Fat Bottomed Girls song by Queen when you show this truck.
Haha Who can afford the whole song?! 😆
Any new vehicle purchase = "YOU ARE REQUIRED" = to accessorize. You can never have "too much" truck. When talking about your large center console you forgot to mention the RAM easter egg. The under side of the lid has rulers, wrench and fraction-decimal conversion charts, a right angle, a protractor, trigonometry formulas - even the Pythagorean theorem. That makes it worth buying a RAM, right?
🤣🤣We chuckled a little at the charts. Do you think anyone ever thinks to use them?
LOL. I never noticed them until 2 weeks after owning my truck. I notice the formulas just before discovering the small cubby-hole; located bottom on the driver side front inside the center console. I could not find my trailer tire pressure monitor and while looking for it, discovered it had slide into that cubby-hole. Of course you will slow discover little things as you go. On your fuel mileage, you will can some after break-in. Though in Feb. 2025 it will be 3 years owning my 3500 Mega Cab, all stock, HO Cummins, 4.10 = Avg. MPG bobtail 18.9 mpg ... towing 12.1 mpg @ avg. GCWR #21,975
Silly question....PILLOWS??? Decor pillows or sleeping pillows?! If sleeping pillows....anything new, funo super comfy??
🤣🤣 We tried a couple of My Pillows because ours were in really rough shape! They are okay. They are a HUGE improvement from what he had (less neck and shoulder pain), but we don’t have a good comparison. Ours were BAAADDD! I definitely wouldn’t have paid full price for them. 🤣
Hey Cody, I noticed you were running your inner rear tires quite a bit higher in psi compared to the outer tires. Is it OK to run the inner tires that much higher in psi? I run my outers about two psi higher than my inners.
Nope, it was like that when we picked it up and had to adjust them. That was a concern for me as well.
Any update on the surge protector? Nice looking truck.
The WatchDog is doing great! No issues so far and I’m loving all of the data. When we “play boondock” it helps us a lot! 😆
What did you do about your air horns ?
Put a spare key in your trailer. My weiner dog stepped on the lock button on the arm rest while the truck was running and locked us out. My keys and phone were inside. Luckily she stepped back on it after 15 minutes
Good idea!! Yep, we have been locked out TWICE!!
Curious why you chose the Gator over the Tyger tonneau?
Amazon didn’t have an option for the Tyger, for my long bed. When I found the Gator, the price was cheaper now than what I paid for the Tyger about 3 years ago.
so is there room under the bed for the air horn? you are getting one right?
😆🙋♀️I saw Cody looking under there, but I said NO!
2022 ram 4500 Cummins
Excellent!
I had the IKON running boards fron Real Truck, they were decent quality but they rotted from the inside out. Iwas washing my truck about 2 weeks after the warranty ran out and washed a small hole through the tube and discovered they were rotted. They wouldn't do anything for me... the new set is Ruff Country not from Real truck.
Oh no! I will be on the lookout for that. The price was right, so I’m hoping I don’t regret it!
Like to know how that Ram will tow a ATC toy hauler with a Yamaha wolverine RMAX 4 1000 👍
Will it be for my truck or yours? 😆 I don’t have a good way to confirm that, but I imagine by the numbers, you wouldn’t have any issues.
@@RVUntethered 😂 Yours lol I’m a ways off from anything. But you know it would be a nice test run to see if that’s a good combo 👍
Did you get your air horn off the Ford truck before you traded it?
Ang shut the air horn down. 🙁
Did you keep your air horn? Will you put an air horn on this truck?
☹️Ang shut it down.
@@RVUntethered 🥹
what about your air horns
Ang shut down the air horns for this one.
Air horn?
