You know which part of this actually helped me the most? When he said in a campaign we're gonna lose some of the battles. That's important because every time I lose a battle I get discouraged and wonder if I can make a difference. I like that acknowledgement of "you lose some battles," it helps me pick myself up and drive on.

I really like what you're saying there. Personally I have a similar issue, but no matter what I do, no matter how much good example I give, there are still some team members, who seem not to be giving their best. Unfortunately it's not entirely my call who's the team member and who's not, so I'm kind of stuck with them, so what can I do in such a situation ? Whenever I take over leadership, give the good example, show them the way, they just seem to abuse this fact and freeload. Whenever I try to encourage them to fix their mistakes, they either don't do it, or do it so poorly, that I'd rather fix it myself. Leadership and positive encouragement, can work wonders on people who also want it and have the right skills, but in some cases it doesn't seem to help at all. At some point you just need to get rid of the bad apples, but what do I do if I can't ? I guess start my own company and hand pick my team :P
I suffer similar problems and I have the same thoughts of starting my own thing. The greatest problem is when you don't have a team and every one is just a solo player.
Got an under performer on your team? GOOD! First: check yur ego and own the fact that you haven't properly motivated them. How do you motivate them? Build a relationship. Make sure they know the "why" and "how" of what you want them to do. Lead down the chain. Keep it simple. It's all in the book.
I'm really not sure about that, definitely true with good people, that care at least a little about the mission, but there is lots of guys that don't give a shit and are there only for their personnal interest, they are gonna think youre a fool, take advantage of you and your work, move up somewhere else before any of those tactic are gonna work on them. Not everybody is working with navy seals willing to die for the mission. I'm not gonna take my chance with those kind of guy for years hoping it works, i'm gonna move somewhere else.
I don’t completely agree with this. Some people are just pathology toxic and there isn’t anything you can do to get them on board. If you’re not in a leadership position in the corporate structure, there isn’t anything you can do about it and they know that. It also doesn’t help that our leadership is weak though.
Go check out " why is Jocko so massive" video on TH-cam, by QualityGains. Funny but also informative, insteresting video with "Jocko" footage in the video for reference of Willink's true character.

Love the point about having a good attitude - it’s contagious.
It’s everything
Definitely. And I would argue bad attitudes are probably even more contagious.
