A musical peaks my interest but it's not enough on its own. I've never seen Wicked but I might still watch it in theatres. I'm definitely interested. The new Joker movie on the other hand. At the moment pretty much zero interest. Not even sure it really is a musical. Only heard rumours. The musicals I love most though, it's the music/performances that draw me in. Not so much the stories.
A decent musical is pleasing. Think how many folks have grown up with Disney animated movies, a lot of them are basically musicals. But my faves include The Blues Brothers, Chicago, Greatest Showman and Les Miserables (I'm in the minority, I don't think Russell Crowe is that bad in it). I'm a terrible singer but I do love a good karaoke.
I enjoy them , not love ( except the Disney animated ones) , but the classic MGM, Grease, Yentl, Five Heartbeats, Hello, Dolly!, Greatest Showman , Hamilton etc …all different degrees of Like …Staying Nerdy 🖖🏾
I took my 9 year old daughter to see Wicked on Broadway last summer, before we knew the movie was official. She loved it so much and now looking forward to this.
Literally how I felt when the 97 trailer dropped, because at 37 years old this is some of my first memories as a kid watching the 92 animated series and it's a testament to appreciate it more especially when its revisited. Love your tears Amanda 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️
I’m looking forward to seeing this too. I saw it live on Broadway starring Idina Menzel & Kristen Chenoweth, amazing performances, I loved it. Amanda I’m touched by your excitement for this film.
I like musicals, but never saw Wicked on stage. My girls did, though, and I know they'll want to see this too. The trailers make this look really interesting! I'm looking forward to checking it out.
I hope they love it. And I hope you love it too! Hopefully it's great for both those who have been fans since the og Broadway musical debuted and for those who are just coming into the world. The book that inspired the musical is also really good too.
Honestly, if Glinda, Elphaba, and Fiyero could just be a happy, loving throuple, I’d be thrilled. I saw this in 2004 when Idina was still in it and cried at least six times. This trailer has wrecked me all over again. It looks amazing and I cannot wait.
This feels utterly surreal. It was what, 18 years ago? I was posting about movie news and casting rumors on the Verdigris message boards, back when fansites still ruled and social media was still in its literal infancy. To finally be here, almost two *decades* later… wow.
I know. I can't believe we made it here. I thought this film may never happen. I'm just so excited to be able to go to see this film. I have a feeling I will be crying through most of it because of just how long we've waited and how much I really love this musical and story.
This will be my first time watching wicked in general. I've heard maybe 3 songs in the past very little n I'm a big fan of wizard of Oz, Dorothy all that jazz ❤
I'm not a singing person, especially in public, but during Bohemian Rhapsody I had to fight the urge to sing along. Sweden is a quiet at the cinema country. Which, I often appreciate but some cheers, screams or sing alongs I think would improve the experience. Kind of depends on the movie of course.
😮 oh Amanda, this is such a sweet video and so heartfelt. What a wonderful review you just now 😂 once again, you are truly a jewel of youtube. You did not clock in yet at 30 seconds into your video when you made me laugh out loud at the fact that you we’re so happy you could wear your witches hat over your head
I do Enjoy musicals, have never seen WICKED, actually thought OZ The Great & Wonderful was a movie version of it , so I’m looking forward too seeing it …I hope it meets all of your expectations …Staying Nerdy 🖖🏾
😊 forgive me for asking, I know wicked was a musical stage play, but am I correct and understanding based on this trailer that essentially the Wizard and his cohorts were looking for basically someone they can scapegoat as the big evil to rally against because that’s the feeling I got from the trailer and if that’s what actually was the plot or subplot of the stageplay. Thanks, nerdy.😊
Not exactly. The Wizard genuinely does want Elphaba to join him, in the musical story. And fun fact while this movie is based on the musical, the musical in turn was based on the book. Lol Both, I highly recommend. Both are really good stories. Though the book is a lot more... gritty and kind of dark in comparison. And obviously much less singing and dancing lol A bit of a spoiler beyond this point... For the story of Wicked. The book focuses more on the underground resistance and uprising that Elphaba ends up a part of.
This movie looks like crap. Ariana can’t act!! I hate that she is playing Glinda. I refuse to watch this garbage. It looks like the Mean Girls version of Wicked. Glinda is Rachel McAdams character or Nancy Andrews from Carrie. The Wicked Witch is Carrie or Lindsay Logan’s character. Crap crap crap.
🙄 the “mean girls” version of wicked? My guy, Glinda IS 100% a bit of a mean girl. She IS basically the Ozian Regina George, with (maybe) slightly less venom - and she has been that since the first time Kristen Chenoworth ever floated down in her bubble. That scene with the hat is literally (almost word for word) straight out of the play. There’s a lot more to her, of course. And even in the trailer you can see some of the growing she does, mostly thanks to Elphaba.
@@odile8701 it just looks like modern audience crap. The Stage show is better. Ariana is fine as a singer but as an actress I am not interested in watching. Might as well have casted Miley Cyrus in role. Yuck.
I will say I enjoyed Ariana Grande in Scream Queens in terms of her acting. She was only in it for a bit but I thought she was pretty funny. I am also a tad nervous about her taking on the role of Galinda but she does seem super passionate about playing the character and doing her justice. So I'll withhold my judgement until I see the full film.
Disagree........ And it's just a trailer...... U can't just judge her acting based on trailer... u haven't even seen the movie.... Just give it a shot..
People who don't have a lifelong connection to Wicked don't understand our passion/obsession with this movie/musical. Seeing Wicked on stage was my first Broadway production that touched me in a way. I then read the book which was amazing, and prompted me to the production again in a different light. It opened up a world I had not seen before. I have loved the Broadway production for so long and Idina and Kristen as the OG, that I went into this movie with skepticism. But I am in absolute love with Ariana and Cynthia's interaction. Their stage presence is above reproach and causes so much more emotion than what I could get while seeing it on stage. I feel emotional ever time I see the trailer although I have already seen the movie twice. You can see the magic these two have together and they are true best friends as their love is so evident, which is something you cannot get from the stage.
How do you feel about musicals?
All depends. It takes a lot to pull off a musical. The first musical movie I ever cared for was Rocky Horror.
A musical peaks my interest but it's not enough on its own. I've never seen Wicked but I might still watch it in theatres. I'm definitely interested. The new Joker movie on the other hand. I love musicals, but sometimes they can be a bit much. It depends on what production and how it's performed.

Im painting myself green and wearing a black suit and pointed hat, and I will be carrying a broom.
Love to hear it. 💚 I definitely think I need to do a whole Elphaba look too for this one.
MOVIE OF THE YEAR! 🩷🫧💚 give them their OSCAR RIGHT NOW! 🫶🏼

Between all the practical sets and effects to the fact that all the singing in the film is the live vocal recordings
♥️♥️♥️
Dearest Amanda, I can’t tell if if it is the trailer or your visible emotional connection, but it gave me the feels and that’s a good thing😊😎
Awwww what a nice comment!

@@VampX13 I think we've found the place where we belong!
One of the Best musicals ever made
100% agree!

PS. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY A SINGER ❤
Just a sweet trailer review. I have many feelings about this trailer too (some mixed) but your reaction was so great to watch. 2 parts though!?!😢

Loved your reaction. When is your birthday??? I’m November 21st, so all I asked of my friends was for us to go see this in theaters on the 22nd haha

Could you review the W.I.T.C.H animation episodes. It's a really nice watch. This trailer just reminded me of it and Winx as well
I just hope that others besides Elphaba are shown doing magic like Glinda and Nessarose. That's something that's always felt lacking in the musical.
i think part one is literally about elphaba being the only one that can actually do magic
