FYI - a movie adaptation faithful to the book would be rated a very strong R. NOT for kids at all. The Broadway musical had to make many changes in content and characters' personalities to make it palatable for general entertainment. Elphaba was neither likeable or sympathetic, Glenda barely any better. Stick with the musical.
im grateful for the book cuz it gave us the stage play! but i agree, its a night and day difference.

i’m pretty sure it’ll be palatable to a general audience. universal knows kids are most likely going to watch it so i’m assuming they made changes accordingly.
The book is very boring, too - at least in my opinion. Everything is SO drawn out, but nothing much happens and there are lengthy passages of dialogue that doesn't really go anywhere, plotwise or characterwise. And lots of characters that doesn't really contribute that much. Schwartz and Holzman did an amazing job to boil it all down to a cohesive and entertaining story, with some great music along the way!
yeah but no problem, I remember when I was 11 , went to Cinema with my Dad to watch Terminator 2. and was the best cinematographic experienced I remember.

Dude, I haven't even watched your video yet. TAKE HER TO SEE IT! I took my wife about three years ago in Charlotte, NC and we both loved it. I especially loved how much my wife loved it. Three months later she had a major stroke and then brain surgery, so we cannot get out so much now, but we have those memories

Your daughter is so beautiful and so sweet! I don't really know anything about Wicked, but I enjoyed watching your daughter's reaction. You might have to see the movie twice, once for their reactions, and once to get what was done with the story. Her smile is as bright as Ariel Gade's when she was that age! She is too precious. What a missed opportunity to explore some more complicated themes from the book. Something to look forward for her to read when she gets older at least. I have seen it before so I was there in that chip teaser as a kid's show you miss in that movie so my own mom played it in was the voice really here so my family was there dress-up like it in that blue dress was awesome way back then was in my family was cheering on stage so Sam was there kill me me I was watching on that as 1 year old I was a kid's on stage was in PBS kids show was good I feel looking in my moment in that This is just fun for us to watch her be all excited. I took my daughter to see Wicked on Broadway when she was six. Watching the look on her face during Defying Gravity was priceless. She is now grown but I will never forget that evening with her and the sheer wonder in her eyes.

i think if you’re a fan of the book, you still have things to look forward to. the director has split the story into two movies and emphasized how he wants to include aspects of the book that were not previously in the stage musical. should be an interesting change, depending on what is added.

Saw the Broadway show @ The George Gershwin theater in NY 2 years ago It was beautiful and I’m a Mid 50 year old Male ❤ I Highly recommend it ❤️✌🏼

I feel it will be as expected, a combo of the book and the musical. I was once cast as Nessa, Elphaba's sister, yeah, the one who get the house dropped on her. This musical will always have a special place in my heart. The story is a great one.

I saw Stephanie j block. Jackie burns could have been my second elphaba but I didn't see her when she was touring in San Diego in 2018 though I wanted to. It was my favorite show other than lion king and phantom of the Opera
It was a mixed cast including drag performers, so VERY VERY Off Broadway. Fushia DeVille was Elphaba and I can't remember our Glinda's name, but will find out. This was in 2009/2010 in Virginia Beach.
@@zahkabee nice, Donna Vivino was the main Elphaba in the west coast tour in 2009 but SJB was the one i saw the opening weekend in San Diego. i even thought i was watching the wizard of oz and the ticket seller was confused. sadly i picked the balcony level and could only see the front half, but when the wicked witch of the west took flight i was amazed, the crowd stood up and cheered at the end of Defying Gravity.

Adorable, but I think you are way off. I think it's going to be a 70/30 spit between the musical/book. A lot in that trailer is from the book, not the musical. I would not be surprised if it has the books ending.

It's not quite that simple. Think Glenda and Elphaba are college roomies who don't get along until they learn how to see the other's POV. Then the friendship is tested by a conflict of principles. The way the musical adjusted the story makes it very friendly, even instructive to young people. (The book is much darker).
It’s also a story of propaganda and how giving people an enemy brings them together.
The book is very adult and not for children under 18
