Robbie kreiger is an astonishing guitar player.
Robbies totally an original, no one ever played like him at the time or since.
The doors like so very many of their contemporaries brought so, so much energy to the table.
Huge fan since the mid 1990s during my teens, this 14 yr old lovely girl who i met out of the blue had a small black doors st christophers necklace on showing me it before i really knew the music, with regret i only knew her for half an hour, but that inspired me. She left me a very happy doors fan here in the uk.

I think all of their albums were masterpieces as special and different as each of the 4 seasons and the stars in the sky, the music of today is just awful and unpleasant to listen to because a lot of the new artists aren't even musicians and most of it is garbage that will never be remembered or spoken of in high regards like the classic rock music of the 60s and 70s

Light My Fire represents their true collaboration. Robby Krieger wrote most of the lyrics, Jim Morrison contributed a couple of the lines in the song and also helped shape how the song will be sung. A true Doors collaboration that became one of the top hits of the 1960s.

I LOVE this documentary! Cover so many angles of the music, and even showing how to play the kicks on guitar! Love all the wonderful video clips of Doors performances I’ve heard about in Ray and John’s books. Wow! I’m going to be watching this over and over!! I was born too late for original Doors ... yet I became totally obsessed with Doors in my late teens, 20’s. I was lucky enough for Riders on the Storm 2008 performance in Rochester NY with Ray and Robby and Brett. I was front and center of stage barricade.... watched Robbys amazing finger work up close, could see the pattern in Rays cool socks as he played organ. Was absolutely amazing! One of best concert experiences of my life. Thank you for an awesome documentary!! ❤️

Back in the 1980's , in Wildwood , N.J. , we had a short lived wannabe punk rock band called ''Vic Marrow's Head ! I was always inspired by the Doors music since age 14 in 1967.

Ray manzarek had a band with his brothers they were from Chicago heavily into the Blues. And for this journalist to say that Jim Morrison was a man that you love to hate Jim Morrison is a man that I would love to have a beer with.

Ironic , how a lot ended as the Doors came to an end ; such as hippies , Vietnam, muscle cars, silver standard , going to the moon and war hero's etc. Then new stuff started ; the ecology movement , dept. of energy/gasoline shortages , college entrance restrictions, small cars and computers etc.

don't forget how they always have to shake the strings on the last chord to try to get some vibrato out of it; regardless if it's done on the recording or not. i can't even continue to watch this any longer due to the hosts being so pretentious.

Interesting they discuss 'Touch Me' and the fact that Robby Krieger wanted to call his tune, 'Hit Me' - which was over-ruled by the rest of the band and producer Paul Rothchild. Ironically, they show the Smother's Brothers clip but never mention the fact that Krieger is sporting a black eye - an event which has drawn lots of attention over the years with fans asking what happened and scads of then offering their opinions about it as well as the Doors themselves except Jim Morrison who as far as I know never talked about it in any interviews. Krieger himself has given at least TWO conflicting stories about his infamous shiner, one that he and Jim got in a fist fight and Jim won, then there was the bar fight version where some cowboy bar patrons who didn't like long haired hippie types jumped Robby and Jim and in the process of the fight Jim took a swing at one of them, missed and hit Robby in the eye. There is a line in the Louis Lamour film 'Conagher' where actor Sam Elliott, sporting his own shiner is asked, "Who gave that to you?" and Elliott replies, "Nobody gave it to me, I earned it!" That line is reputed to have actually came from Robby during one of his many interviews where he was asked about it for the millionth time. John Densmore has always insisted that Krieger got it as the result of a car accident a day or two before the Smother's taping and Ray Manzarek said that Robby ran into a wall.

@@susancioban-dwyer2569 Right you are - I wrote my comment a year before Robby's book came out which I pre-ordered. I thought it was interesting that his shiner was such a thing, and everyone had their own take on it - even Robby who had said previously in an interview years before the book that he and Jim had a fistfight - LOL! Ray's story varied from interview to interview and John had it right on all along. It's funny and interesting to me that so many rockers have been photographed with a black eye including George Harrison, Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy (more than once), Bonnie Bramlett on the Delany & Bonnie 'To Bonnie From Delany' album cover (he supposedly smacked her just before the photo shoot!), Mick Jagger hit by a chair in a bar fight, Ronnie Van Zant after a fist fight with Skynyrd guitarist Ed King, also Phil Collins, Van Morrison, John Mellencamp, Steven Tyler, Marc Bolan, David Bowie, Richie Hayward, Dickie Betts, Kurt Cobain, Peter Kriss (KISS), Noel Gallagher, others...

Strange Days and Morrison Hotel are my fav albums.
And as Robby Kreiger said "Jim's favorite singer was Frank Sinatra. And Jim really liked to croone."
So whoever the "Record Store Owner" with the dopey stache is, it IS what Jim Morrison liked to do. Morrison didnt want the strings and horns. That decision was 100% Rothchid making a monetary decision.
And Morrison DIDN'T hit out at anything and everything.
Wishful Sinful is the song that Jim and his crooning would love.
