I'm glad to see River Raid represented. In an era over saturated with barely functional junk games, River Raid stood out as a solid and professional product. It may not look like it but this was peak home gaming back then.
If you like score-attack games, it still is amazing. A buddy of mine and I, still occasionally play it when we're doing a retro-night and picking games for it. :)
Ah -- Lionheart. A peek into what could have been, had Amiga recieved the same kind of support as, say, MegaDrive. If a small developer made up of a handful of talented programmers and designers could achieve such results, I can't imagine that Konami couldn't give us decent Amiga ports of 16-bit Castlevania or Contra.
Really nice games in this one! I want to try them all. :) Oh yes, a bacon like for the video too: 🥓 I really liked the Schooby-Doo cartoons as a kid, so I watched all the spinoffs of the time too. :) I like a good detective story. ;) And I'm very impressed that a console implemented a point-and-click adventure game that wasn't a pain to play, as you say. Though, are you sure you can't plug a mouse in there? River Raid would have probably seriously threatened Frogs and Flies as our favourite on the Atari 2600 if we'd had it. :) I'm surprised, a Monopoly-type game that is fine in single player too. Nice! :)
I mean, canonically the plot of Scooby Doo takes place in a postapocalyptic landscape and that's why people try to take over real estate in shady ways, because it's one of the few ways to survive. So yeah, totally plausible that the other people and cops are ghosts, too. Because some bo mb or chemical warf are ki lled them off.
When I was a small child, in the late eighties and early nineties, I didn't like Scooby Doo, it seemed formulaic. But later as growing up, I realized it makes an amazing point for kids. Whenever someone is trying to push some sort of monster, metaphysical, otherwordly thing, it's usually some con man or capitalist trying to get richer or in the possession of some greater deal. 😁
Wow; that Scooby Doo Mystery game looks a lot of fun and well made ... and typical that the SNES port was just a platformer instead. I would have loved a PC version with mouse control for this !!!
Earthbound is one of the best SNES games EVER. I remember there was a N64 sequel that was canceled. Damn shame because teh N54 really suffered from a lack of RPGs.
Mother 3 actually released on GBA, and then was ported to WiiU. So while it may not help N64 in any way, it's still there and playable. Though afaik it's only in Japanese. There are some fan translations on the net though.
Ha! Never even seen Scooby-Doo Mystery? It’s very “Day of the Tentacle”? If I’d known it both exists & is worth playing I’d have sought it out years ago. I have my Sega Nomad with a Mega Everdrive in front of me, so I’m going to download it tonight! 😄😃 Never heard of Fortune Street (or any of it’s other names)? Not bid on video board games but I may give it a look for multiplayer? I think I know River Raid from the Atari? It’s familiar but I don’t remember it well? Not sure why it’s supposed to be an aircraft when a boat would make more sense? I may hunt out the ROM/disk image? Oh my goodness Earthbound is fantastic. I have fan subbed versions of all 3 Japanese games on reproduction GameBoy Advance cartridges & they are all great. They’re all well worth a play if anyone seeing this hasn’t? I don’t recall if I know Lionheart from back in the day or from you? I have memory problems & I don’t remember if I told you that? 😄 This is an original idea for a video? I like it, thanks!
Yup, Scooby is actually a pretty cool game for Sega. And Fortune/Boom/Itadaki/etc. Street is actually a n-th entry in the series that started off on Nintendo's smaller consoles. They just didn't get official translations earlier on, but were as good as this one is. Boat WOULD make much more sense... But maybe planes were/are more popular? Easier to sell, and whatnot. It may sound like an original idea, it's still just another of the "Forgotten Treasures" videos. But they're less structured than most of my others, as I allow myself with them to tackle all platforms and all years, and not worry if the game is 40 or 7 years old. xD
Considering the inherent moonlogic of adventure game classics like Larry, King's Quest, Maniac Mansion etc., I see nothing wrong with making easier games in the genre.
Lionheart looks wonderful despite it's time.
Yup, it plays quite well too. :)
I'm glad to see River Raid represented.

Whoa! I never knew about that Scooby Doo Point and click game, that looks really charming!
It is surprisingly competent too. And fun, obviously fun. :)

Easily, if they only wanted to.
Remembering how much simple fun River Raid was 😃remembering it's 41 years old and you were playing it when it came out 😨
River Raid is timeless, and still as good today. :)
Lionheart very good, Amiga forever🤘🏻
:)
Really nice games in this one! I want to try them all. :) Oh yes, a bacon like for the video too: 🥓

Nope, no mouse for the Genesis I’m afraid, but it did had the “megadrive” AND “blast processing”, so you know… It was something!
@@OldAndNewVideoGames Blast processing? That sounds painful. :D

Fact.
And now, since "fact" was stated, we've established the only real and true background of it all. :)
"a postapocalyptic landscape where people try to take over real estate in shady ways"
Sooo... I take it you've never been to Warsaw ;)
To clarify, I was referring to the real estate part , not the postapocalyptic one.
Amazing how much River Raid reminds me of Blue Max
Both great games in their own right, though if I had to choose, for me RR would always come out on top. :)
When I was a small child, in the late eighties and early nineties, I didn't like Scooby Doo, it seemed formulaic. But later as growing up, I realized it makes an amazing point for kids. That's correct on so many levels it's scary. xD
Wow; that Scooby Doo Mystery game looks a lot of fun and well made ... and typical that the SNES port was just a platformer instead. I would have loved a PC version with mouse control for this !!!
I know, right? You'd never expect it to be so competent, and yet... :)
It is said that Earthbound makes references to really dark things like the metro gas terrorist attack in Japan performed by a cult.
It's life I suppose.

@OldAndNewVideoGames played it. I ran it with an English fan patch on my NVIDIA Shield.
Scooby and the gang aren’t ghosts they are all dodging the draft
Oh man... And the plot thickens. ;)

You're right. And especially given that the controls of Genesis were not really made for pointing or clicking, it was a very solid effort. :)
Not only that, but you managed to collect footage from five different channels, too. Congratulations.
Yup, you could say that it’s a win win win AND win! ;)

Good pick!
