These are NOT tiny homes. They are sheds with beds. A tiy home is a fully contained unit. With cooking and bathroom facilities. All this is is a metal room with a door.
Wealthy homeowners are responsible for the housing crisis in Canada, they have put ridiculous bylaws and housing bans that have basically abolished missing middle housing for the middle class and prevented all affordable home options. These could have been made in Canada and set up in a far more attractive situation. I am glad the homeless have a warm place but this could have been done so much better.
getting Americans to build something that Canadians can? why do i get the feeling that these shelters will be offered to refuges, and not the locals who need them...? someone really needs to be FIRED.
There is a gentleman that is trying to do that here in Prince George but is getting blocked by city hall. All because they don't have toilets inside. Well porta-potties can be set up by these temp. homes. There is another guy that is doing this in L.A. and this is getting problems by their city hall too.

$225,000 a unit with power Made in the USA Should have to be drug tested to be accepted and want to enter into the skills / working program I believe homeless but trying people should get these homes. Well. My prediction came true. But I expected to use concrete hive type housing using waste heat from industrial facilities and the use of them mandatory. And I thought 2030. Not this soon.
And after they move in, 48 hours later, there will be a body count from overdoses, and be reduced to a slum. There will have to be a permanent police and ambulance presence to deal with the problems, and an increase in crime in the local area.
Nice to see these being built though so sad that so many Canadians are facing tough situations like this because of the spike in the cost of living...a shame further that the Trudeau Liberals are increasing taxes on April 1st to make things even more expensive while they increase their pay on the same date as well (Trudeau's salary to increase to $405 THOUSAND a year)... :(
Nowadays it's cheap to build a basic simple container or cabin shelter ,or tiny house, without electricity and water is totally fine. At least it's safe and a place to call home. Why can't you allow people to have these simple cabins to call home, why leave them sleep on the street or in the shelter that full of violence and drugs? Cold is not the only threat, the violence, the drugs, ... are all what homeless have to face as well. It's cheap to make a basic shelter out of plastic, steel or wood for people to call home and stay safe. Canada is cold, but Canada don't have to be cold hearted! Canada has vast land, enough to allow simple cabins for anyone who needs one to call home. It's not expensive to make a shelter these days.
