@@alirahman4762 What, the Black Bear in the back of a Cave? lol Greetings from Perth, West Australia. Merry Christmas to you and also to the Rebuild Rescue Family. Cheers, Frank.
Sam/Dopey will not be forgotten. Much love to his family and friends finding their way through this holiday season without him. Been here since the first 401 video - staying until it's finished. That panel template looks very cool. Happy Holidays to the entire Rebuild Rescue family! ☮
That means a lot Brother, thank you for your support and being with us through it all. All of us here at Rebuild Rescue wish you a safe and happy holiday!
I’d put the Radar back in. My grandfather had three aircraft including a 414 and 421 with color radar. Originally after purchasing the 414 he didn’t care however after utilizing it he realized it gave him much better situational awareness. He liked being able to move the radar and take a look at the weather in front of us before taking off.
@ Great Idea! My grandfather had told me many reasons why he fell in love with his. Ultimately he said the benefits outweighed the disadvantages. Being able to aim it and see what you need to see helps wonders and can keep you much safer. I remember a flight we were on with bad weather all around us. ATC kept trying to vector him in a certain direction and he had to tell them he didn’t feel safe taking that route and advised them he was looking at the weather on his radar. Ultimately they gave him his own discretion and he was able to thread the needle. He’s even helped other pilots in the same general area. Wishing you fair skies and smooth flights! Stay safe my friend!
@@Ripper13F1V They do offer conversion kits but the radar that is installed looks like a Honeywell Primus 880 so I couldn’t honestly say one way or the other. But, it’s entirely possible.
Can't wait for that new panel to get installed. So glad to see you're doing more work on the 401. It's fun seeing other planes get rescued, but this was the project that made me a subscriber and I'd love to see more stuff getting done on it.
That panel is going to look amazing!! Cue the Tim Allen grunt... Merry Christmas everyone and please keep in mind those who are alone for the holidays; they need us more than ever.
I'm not sure built-in iPads are a good idea. In a few years that model will no longer be supported or receive updates from Apple, and apps will also stop supporting it. Then if you want to replace it with a new model, it will have different dimensions needing a whole new panel to fit.
I agree, there's no reason for using a consumer product with a built in battery for that application. And the battery in itself is a risk, you don't want a three year old overcharged lithium-ion battery burning in the dash. And as you say, Apple is known for changing things like dimensions and other parameters to extort the maximum amount of money from you. There are nice panel mount Android units just for this reason.
Hi Jason. Finally another episode of the 401! Yeepy-Ka-Yeeeeyyy! As I said long time ago, this particular type of aircraft has a significant meaning to me, because, when I made my PPL instruction in my local airport witch was the homebase of the aeronautical department of the Government from the province I live in, they had 3 different airplanes: a twin P Aztec, a Rockwell Commander 980 twin turbine and a C 402, similar to the one you bought from the Netherlands. So, every time I see an update to the 401 I can´t help asking myself how long it´s going to take until she flies again. I´m already chilling a bottle of nice champagne for that occasion. I wish you, your family and friends a M X-mas and a HNY. Cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina.
Good morning, Jason and the Rebuild Rescue crew! So happy to see another episode focused on the 401! I am looking forward to seeing the day the Phoenix is completed and on its first flight! Merry Christmas 🎄
Looks great! A glass cockpit in a 50 year old airplane is amazing. What a difference. When I was learning to fly it was all "steam gages", slow gyros, 1 comm and 1 nav and no transponder.

May be a dumb question, but as an electronics technician I rely on wire colors to help in troubleshooting and repair. Why are all the wires inside of aircraft? The same color are their numbers or markings they have differentiate them.
