    I’d put the Radar back in. My grandfather had three aircraft including a 414 and 421 with color radar. Originally after purchasing the 414 he didn’t care however after utilizing it he realized it gave him much better situational awareness. He liked being able to move the radar and take a look at the weather in front of us before taking off.

      @@P-J-W-777 im putting the radar back in my 401 for that very reason especially at night when you can not see the weather.

    • @P-J-W-777
      @P-J-W-777 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      @ Great Idea! My grandfather had told me many reasons why he fell in love with his. Ultimately he said the benefits outweighed the disadvantages. Being able to aim it and see what you need to see helps wonders and can keep you much safer. I remember a flight we were on with bad weather all around us. ATC kept trying to vector him in a certain direction and he had to tell them he didn’t feel safe taking that route and advised them he was looking at the weather on his radar. Ultimately they gave him his own discretion and he was able to thread the needle. He’s even helped other pilots in the same general area.
      Wishing you fair skies and smooth flights! Stay safe my friend!

    I'm not sure built-in iPads are a good idea. In a few years that model will no longer be supported or receive updates from Apple, and apps will also stop supporting it. Then if you want to replace it with a new model, it will have different dimensions needing a whole new panel to fit.

    • @LuqmanHuss

      Not to mention the battery on them basically becomes useless after s few years

    • @falksweden
      @falksweden 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree, there's no reason for using a consumer product with a built in battery for that application. And the battery in itself is a risk, you don't want a three year old overcharged lithium-ion battery burning in the dash. And as you say, Apple is known for changing things like dimensions and other parameters to extort the maximum amount of money from you.
      There are nice panel mount Android units just for this reason.

    Hi Jason. Finally another episode of the 401! Yeepy-Ka-Yeeeeyyy!
    As I said long time ago, this particular type of aircraft has a significant meaning to me, because, when I made my PPL instruction in my local airport witch was the homebase of the aeronautical department of the Government from the province I live in, they had 3 different airplanes: a twin P Aztec, a Rockwell Commander 980 twin turbine and a C 402, similar to the one you bought from the Netherlands. So, every time I see an update to the 401 I can´t help asking myself how long it´s going to take until she flies again. I´m already chilling a bottle of nice champagne for that occasion.
    I wish you, your family and friends a M X-mas and a HNY.
    Cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina.

G500/600 TXi .. with their engine monitoring.. GFC500 Autopilot.. etc.. i mean.. as much money is put into this non pressurised beast.. i'm sure Garmin would have got on board and helped.. should use the aspen and avidyne stuff in one of your other rescues.. a mooney or piper.. etc.. ipad is a nice touch.. no doubt having foreflight is good.. but not as an in panel instrument.. for IFR you are limited to charts and checklists, etc.. the garmin would have all that in the displays.. just sayin.. wanna see a real 400 series panel.. here.. th-cam.com/video/mmgb7EitBGA/w-d-xo.html this is the aircraft you want to pattern yours after..

    I have a crazy request for you! I know some people aren't fans of engine additives and I know aircraft engines are limited to what can be added to them. But! If you get or have an aircraft that needs an overhaul on the engine, would you PLEASE consider trying Restore brand Engine Restorer! If so, run it for a few hours on the strip, make a couple ground passes and compare the before and after compression tests and see if you can notice a performance difference. There are a lot of naysayers but unfortunately a lot of ignorance in what they believe in comparison to what has been proven. I've seen engines go from less than 60 PSI on a compression test to 120 across the board. This stuff is designed to restore any surface that produces friction and it truly works incredibly well.

    IMO you can't beat a twin Cessna. We had two 310's for over 25 years. Although they are no 401 they certainly were a dream for us. Can't wait to see the 401 in action down the road. Cheers Sam!

    To THE Rebuild Rescue team, happy holidays. I wanted to take a small moment to thank you (this includes Sam and his family) for sharing this amazing journey with the 101. I truly appreciate the moments since the 1st 101 video. I still am waiting for Sam to walk through those hanger doors to raise some joy with his contagious smile and sense of humor. I think he didn't really know how much of an amazing gift he gave to the flying (and nonflying) world. We miss you Sam.
    To THE Rebuild Rescue team, you are one of a kind.

    Great to see a 401 update!
    The camera man needs to slow down with all the moving around. Was like watching the Blair Witch Project! 😆
    Get that thing on a gimbal! 👌

    As much as I love my ipad I would never want it hard mounted in my panel. Reason being is ipads have a relatively short life span in both hardware and OS updates. At some point you wont be able to update those ipads to an OS compatible with whatever flying app you use. By the time you go to replace it they will change the design and now your going to have a nice hole in your panel unless you redo the entire panel... that seems expensive 🤷‍♂

      Well have a few backups in case one goes bad. The iPads can be slid in and out in seconds. It’ll make a great addition in so many ways. Once they’re in I’ll include the ideas of possible operations depending on the pilot / copilots wants-pilots wants and needs.
