I got this model for Christmas in 1980. I was 9. I had built several cars and airplanes. It was my first lesson in truck models being more complicated than cars.
This was the first model and set the standards for big rig kits in 1:25 scale. LOTS of parts! Thanks for the tip on using the instruction sheet. A further tip: Use a coloured marker to check off parts on the instructions as you cut them off and install them. It's an easy way to keep track of where you are in the build with all those individual parts. Thanks for the tip, Chris. I watch every video.
Haven't seen you build a 25th scale big rig for a while; again it was one of the things I enjoyed when I first started watching you, so i'm hoping you put this together on the channel.
I have the original boxing which is the same plastic, but decals of actual brown/red pinstriped stripes as on boxart, AND it says "California Hauler" instead of "Cross Country Hauler". Perhaps Round2 figured there would be confusion with earlier Calif. Hauler kit that has the Detroit V8, early interior, unhinged hood, etc. Good review Chris!
I like to see a Revell 85-2627 1:25 scale Peterbilt 359, the one with the twin turbo 475 multi variable timing Cummins, opening doors. Build from start to finish. That would be cool, maybe add lights.
Just for information, this is not an old ERTL kit, it was developed by AMT long before ERTL came into the picture 1983 when they bought the AMT brand from Lesney Corporation and now owned by Round 2. This kit first came out 1976 and ERTL had nothing to do with it until after 1983. Another thing...I have never heard of a 12 speed Fuller transmission, the were 13, 15 and 18 speed...so Round 2 must have got it wrong when they did the boxart.
I love to build trucks. It just takes so much time and painting.

That's a nice kit.
The Big Rigs are always fun to build 👍👍
I wish Revell would do those big decorated show trucks again like they did in the 90's .
Had an AutoCar daycab and a round dump, this Pete pulling a cattle trailer, and a COF4070A with an 8V-71 pulling an extendable flatbed!
The truck kit looks fairly nice. I didn’t notice a lot of flash like the AMT truck kits generally have. Thanks for sharing.
Can't wait to add this kit , to the kit closet!!
I remember trying to build that as a kid. I gave up on it! Now, I want to try it again lol

I always start with the frame and make it a "rolling chassis" and then build the motor. I'm very much a "build from the ground up" kind of builder.
Thank You. I need to pay the hobby shop a visit

Remember the kit from years ago.

Nice model & video. In fact I just watched 1978 convoy movie when this showed up in my subscriptions
Awesome
I built the 359 California hauler
I want to get a rig kit and customize it. 👍🏻🔥🤘🏻
I like the truck but I wish that they would have kept the rear metal axles.im not keen about plastic rear axles.
Anyone know where i can get the decal sheet from this issue separately? I could use one for my 90s issue kit...
How long dose it take you to.make a kit
