Yeah the trade logic for this OOTP is currently pretty out of whack, same with trade frequency. The devs have said on the forums their looking into it and working on patching it.
Also definitely looking forward to more Foolish OOTP content! Your old OOTP content is what made me start watching your channel and convinced me to buy the game and now I've put in over 3000 hours into OOTP myself since watching your early Foolish Boy era videos!
Yup, when I first got into OOTP, Bailey's playthroughs were super helpful with getting the hang of the game. I've now got over 2,000 hours in OOTP23 and looking forward to buying 24 when its a bit more polished.
Well their games have always been broken, which is part of the fun. I remember how easy it was to seal bases on 22 when you manage the games, got like 10 per game with Padres.
Or how the AI managers can’t set a proper lineup.
But I like it, it’s not a perfect game, far from it, but it has character and fun, which is important.

I’ve been playing recently (thanks again Bailey for the code 😊) and have also experienced really strange trade logic, although it hasn’t really worsened my experience that much. I also finally was able to live out the dream of the Mariners as World Series winners so that’s neat

this version of ootp feels like a wacky land version. Like I really love alot of the changes made but christ the ratings on some players and the trade and development ai feels like I'm living in a world where everyone is jerry dipoto

I just recently started OOTP and didn't know the storyline thing and had Druw Jones on my team and right before the season started he retired on me.
You should check out Enrique Bradfield Jr. Bailey , he was 46/46 on stolen bases for Vanderbilt last year , and has the best glove I’ve seen in college baseball

The explanation for Ohtani is that OOTP undervalues 2 way players (and makes them underperform). I don't know if that's a thing in 24 but it was always a thing in 23. I could trade a mid prospect for him or sign him for 5 million a year at which point he would play very badly.

I think the trades was more a by-product of turning up the Talent Change Randomness. I wouldn’t mind seeing this go forward but maybe 125 was a bit too high. Maybe try 110

I think Ohtani might have gotten a Qualifying Offer? I don't know if that would be specifically mentioned, but it did say that he's already recieved a QO and I don't think he got one IRL yet so maybe he took the QO and hoped to have a better year to get it out of the way in the hopes of a better free agency the next year? Though I don't know that any team signing Ohtani would even care about that, then again, he did have a normal human season, if he had his typical MVP worthy season team would probably just be like "what draft picks? Yeah yeah sure whatever, signs check for $500 million."

They got the WS winner right at least. But ridiculous trade and FA AI. Some of those prospect trades are just truly insane. And you just don't see that many huge names moving by trades in one offseason. Would be entertaining from a pure chaos perspective though.

So free agency pops up and this Japanese left fielder is generated- bat potential rivaling that of Vladdy Jr, absolute cannon of an arm (80 rated outfield arm), great work ethic, young (22) and only wanted a 1 yr 4 mil deal.
Half a season in hes hitting better then Vladdy Jr and his hitting surpassed Vladdy Jr with still untapped potential... extended him to 10 year deal for half of what I gave Vladdy Jr on a 12 year, lol.

My first sim as the Rangers Jacob DeGrom won the AL Cy Young. Even my second season he didn't get injured- he's certainly not injury prone in this game. (Eovaldi however, got injured 3 games in for 8 months THAN suffered a 12 month set back... yeah that's like 70% of his contract).
oh yeah, I drafted 3 batters and 2 pitchers in the rule 5 draft too lol so I'm not surprised to see the Rangers draft 2 in this.

What's the backstory on the NPB no longer being in the game? I haven't kept up with this year's release
The devs have been using it (and many other leagues) unlicensed for years. A few months ago they were threatened with legal action if they didn't remove NPB from OOTP 23 and future editions, so they pushed an update that removed all references from 23 and scrambled any existing save files that contained it. In 24 they have removed all real-life leagues except MLB/MiLB, US independent leagues, KBO, and the World Baseball Classic.

DANG who is this Dylan Lesko kid? Evan Carter, Jack Leiter (who granted, OOTP hates due to a down season last year- granted maybe he's a bust but still) and more talent for ONE KID?? I'd imagine all that for a vet given what this game proposed over the years but for one kid? I think the fact you can load up one side of trades (they upped the limit of people you can offer in trades from like 4 to infinity it seems like) made the trade engine go nuts.
I know I tend to trade like 7 trash players for one blue chip prospect lol.
