Because I’m finding Sana’s season deeply upsetting and difficult to watch so far, and I had to find a way to process it. I really didn't expect to make a Sana vid this early in the season, and yet I made this video this evening in just a few short hours (and with a little crying). Editing this was cathartic, and I hope that watching it may be cathartic for you, too, in some way.
I have absolutely loved this song for several years now, and I really hope that I was able to do Sana justice with it. She deserves it.

I swear, Sana is my favorite character of the whole skam franchise
This was absolute perfection. I personally resonate so much with Sana's story and struggles. And after everything she's done for her friends, this season they all really disappointed me. I mean the girl is obviously going through something big, the least they could do is be there for her but seeing them neglect her broke my heart. I mean boys come and go (referring specifically to Yousef here) but friends are supposed to stick with each other through thick and thin. Also what Noora said to Sana about her being Muslim so she doesn't experience heartbreak really set me off. No matter what colour, race or religion you are, no one is immune against heartbreak. But on a more bright side, I'm feeling happy to see some brother x sister moments. Elias is a dumbass sometimes but I know he has his little sister's best interest at heart. Again Briony, this fmv was amazing

This is so painful and beautiful at the same time. I think I relate to Sana because she said she didn't fit anywhere and that's also me. I have been lost for a long time alone and she just said everything I always wanted to say. She is just a character that represents my pain from inside. I guess everyone in this serie represents me in some indipendent way.

the fact that you made this in only just a few short hours is still so impressive to me, considering, like everything you make, the quality and depth of the video is indicative of several days work or more. like i just cannot believe.
there is so much here. i love the parallels of sana looking in the mirror. the "all that is not mine, i want him but we're not right" fucking hurts because it works so well with the scenes you used there.
the paralleling of the two wide shots of the girls walking up the streets??
the climax of the song from about 2:11-2:51 is so extremely upsetting to watch i cannot even begin to explain.
and the scene of sana looking in the mirror at 3:28 from the most recent clip really hits hard with that lyric "never to come out" because i really feel like sana's makeup is her armor and she looked strikingly similar to how she looked at the beginning of season one in that clip, it really just broke my heart because we were seeing a softer side of sana and it feels like she's trying to completely harden herself again.
and then ofc the parallels at the end with the happy scene w/ yousef and the heartbreak sana felt at karaoke. as if i had any more of my heart available to break. even though it hurts, it was such an appropriate way to end the video considering you started with the "you're lucky you don't have to deal with heartbreak" line (which still fucking blows my mind that noora even said that tbh, because of course sana has to deal with heartbreak, she's not an alien. she's a teenage girl. being a hijabi muslim does not negate that.)
in general you have just really captured everything that has made this season so difficult to watch so far. and edited in such a delicate and seemingly simple but sophisticated way. im in awe as usual. thank you for this.

I know the word perfection gets thrown a lot but this IS perfection! I don't think some people realize the significance of a character like Sana and the integrity of the writing just hits home to so many people. The song, your editing, everything, it was beautiful and incredible and I'm in love with this video--even if it got me emotional.

I'd waited to watch this until I was in a better headspace about sana and guess what, I still cried. Briony this is so gorgeous. this song is so amazing and perfect for sana. the way you used the heartbreak quote and explored the various ways sana's had her heart broken by not just yousef, but by her own friends...it broke my heart all over but was done so well. you are so crazy talented I'll never ever get over this, this is amazing
omg Cait I do not blame you, it has been so difficult to watch everything happen to Sana so far. I am so happy that you picked up on my interpretation of the heartbreak quote throughout the vid like that, because while I was editing this I felt that it was really important to me to show that, while navigating her relationship with Yousef is painful, navigating her imbalanced friendships with the girls has been so much worse. Like, I couldn't edit the segment between 2:50 and 3:10 without crying because it makes me so sad to see the girls neglecting Sana after everything she's done for them and after the tenderness and affection between them all in that moment. I always come back to them from time to time when I miss the characters. Yours are the only ones I watch. Ok first, you know my feelings towards this song and to use it with Sana is just Too Much. I love her SO much and just relate to her struggle so much (not as much as her ofc because she's a hijabi but everything else) and you handled this so perfectly.
The way you cut out to black at certain parts (like 0:17 leading to her seeing Yousef and then going back to her with Noora just showing that OF COURSE she can feel love and heartbreak ugh)
And of course that "I want all that is not mine" lyric with her standing separate from the balloon squad and her friends just hit so hard "I want him but we're not right" this lyric was literally written for Yousana I'm not ok???
The cuts to black again at "In the darkness I will meet my creators" with her basically doing this with her prayers???
God the way you interpreted the "I'm a suffocator" lyric is beautiful, she suffocates people with her love and care for them but they don't even realise it and in turn, it's almost like she's the one being suffocated by her own love for them
Also the following lyrics with all the Yousana clips, like the accumulation of all their 'what ifs' 'maybes' is so beautiful and heartbreaking
And then the "what a mess I leave, to follow" and all the shots of the fights and the fall out from that night and how she isolates herself completely ughhhhhh my poor baby
The lyrics again with the shots of her praying intercut into all the clips of the drama in her life that she tries to forget in those moments im just
and then the suffocator lines again with the shots of Yousef and Noora because ofc Sana will think she's stopping Yousef from wanting Noora, ofc she thinks he'd rather have her and again, she's just overwhelmed by the presence of Noora in her life
And then, the music cutting out, the softer moments she had with her friends and then how ISOLATED she is feeling now, god my heart is hurting SO much for her right now and that intercut of the Yousef/Noora kiss with the softer moments they had earlier, kill me why dont you thanks
