mine is 0.53 that was my highest time that i solve a rubiks cube
Wow damn bro
yeah that probably was 2x2 at home
Yeah right. Super believable
One turn
I think it was 1x1 😂
it's insane how the first dude got 22 with full wrist turns and a cube that's from almost 40 yrs ago😬
Ikr
Yep its crazy
And I think they didn’t have any inspection time back at the first world championship either,
So that time would probably be quite hard for even good modern cubers to beat, if you have to do it on the original 40 ish years old rubriks cube they used and with no inspection time at all.
I think pro modern cubers would beat it quick, but still give a greater challenge then 22 secs sounds like
Pretty impressive. I think a lot of the people who competed used their own methods aswell.
And I don’t think they were allowed to use their own broken in cubes, but provided new rubriks ones.
@@IQzminus2 22sec is quite easy to beat for a good fridrich cuber, even with no inspection time (A solve is approximately 50/55 moves)
@@yanniskuhn3095
Yeah, but they all had to compete with a new 1980s rubriks cube, that someone else choose for them, that they had not been able to break in, tension, lube, or modify in any way.
There is a reason why they are doing full on wrist turns for all the turns in the footage from the comp.
And there are interviews with people who competed who said the cubes were fine-ish, but that they were disappointed they didn’t get to compete with their own cube.
They all just got 3 attempts. And there was a need for a rule, that said that if the cube broke apart it didn’t count as a attempt. But if it happened twice in a row you lost the attempt and it basically became a DNF.
And quite a few of the people who competed got a DNF.
So they are using original rubriks cubes, that are popping on them, that they had no ability to modify in any way.
So they had to balance not losing their attempts because of the high high risk of pops, and trying to get a good time on a cube that isn’t theirs and not as familiar.
I absolutely think if a modern top cuber traveled back in time and competed, they would probably win. The community is bigger and more talented people putting thousands of hours into cubing, even when not considering more modern methods and access to share and consume information fast and easy.
I’m guessing there are just a lot more amazing cubers around now.
I just wanted to point out that what they did at the first comp is to me quite impressive. More so the more I learned about the circumstances they competed under.
I’m guessing those times would be surprisingly hard to replicate, with the same restraints and challenges they competed under.
It sounds like a very hard 22 sec solve to do.
13:03 the moment you realize the guy next to you broke the world record "ah whatever, might as well cheer for him" - That kid is a great sport!
Yesssssss
5:59 Feliks Zemdegs has joined the chat.
Yeah! Go feliks
Go Feliks!!!!
Feliks
I learned to solve the cube for the first time at 32 years old.
3 years later my pb is 10.19 and I average 17. Never too old to learn and it's never impossible to improve.
what a champ!
@@Metafelle yessirrr, he’s one of the legends
@Century BS I learnt to solve it 2 years ago, when I was 11 y/o.
true, before I lost my cube I was stuck at sub 25 with a pb of 17.(something) I can't remember because it was more than 9 months ago, and now I can't even hold a cube or even if I can I'll be more than 1 minute :( but there's also a good news and that is that, few days later I'm gonna get a new speed cube, finally so many days later :) need to improve again :)
@@powerbrain840 oh nice.

Might be the scramblet haha
No because Felix said that he lost it in his Instagram later that day

Good thing Is that you can solve it. My record is 27 seconds and i dont bother with speed

Yeh
Ok
fun fact: For the 4.59, Seung Beom Cho was faster than Feliks by 0.003 of a second
I literally was just thinking about lol
Fun fact too: WCA doesn't count the miliseconds cuz they deemed it innacurate. Hence they still recognize the record
@@taufiqal-kahfi8605 "Fun fact too: WCA doesn't count the miliseconds cuz they deemed it innacurate. Hence they still recognize the record"
(For example) 7.471 literally means 7 seconds and 471 milliseconds.... WCA doesn't count the milliseconds?... Who told you that? Lol. They just neglect the 3rd digit after the decimal point and not because of "...they deemed it inaccurate"... if anything it's actually more accurate...
@@jattzjangra4157 well "neglect" isn't the right word too. Allow me to quote from their official site
9f) The results of a round are measured as follows:
9f1) All timed results under 10 minutes, except for 3x3x3 Multi-Blind, are measured and truncated to the nearest hundredth of a second. All timed averages and means under 10 minutes are measured and rounded to the nearest HUNDRETH of a second.
Soo they still recognize miliseconds, they just round it up to the nearest hundreth. They didn't just throw it out for nothing.
Sheeeesh
the way they celebrate with each other is always so nerdy i love it
5:59 so begins the reign of Feliks Zemdegs
Just seeing how much faster it gets through the ages is insane...
The first one is frickin impressive for the time, these cubes were a horror to turn

well he did get 3:2x recently
He hasn't gone anywhere . The currt WR is a really easy scramble. If he's lucky enough to get one of the same difficulty he'll take back the record

9:09 is that Patrick ponce???
Yeah mate .
0:44 He is not Jess Bonde, but Lars Vandenbergh.
No one cheers because it was a practice session. lol
Here's a proof: th-cam.com/video/N8ijmG4J5J8/w-d-xo.html
Many people misconceive it because the record and year are excactly same.
Imagine while the world record is 22
Leo or Tymon was there and score sub 5 or 3 seconds .. that would be unreal
It won't happened because of the cubes. It's so hard to make 5 turns/s let alone 10++turns/s.
That was amazing ! Thank you ! :D
3:24 - judge looks at the time and just shakes his head.
Solved my first Rubik's cube when I was 25 years old.
Hoping to become a speed cuber one day
All the best mate
1:15 "Is that the world record?" In unison, as a matter of factly; "yes it is"
Its really incredible that 4.69 patrick ponce did at 2017 just became WR average
This video is also the evolution of the cameras.
Literally every judge when someone gets a WR: º-º
I was just waiting when Felik's clips will start showing up
5:26-Finally!i was confused did he tied WR single twice. Now i got sure about that.
Nice vid good work
Also the cube itself improved a lot. My new cube is way better than the one I bought 7 years ago.
Everyone was shook when the Felix era started
Mats valk reaction at 10:10 is so funny. Seeing your record get broken by .01 right next to you

Yeap
Feliks progress. Awesome.
It is actually insane!!!
damn that 4.73 really made feliks happy

Great video... The first sub 10 Seconds was only as late as 2007...Yet the 3x3x3 Rubik Cube was invented in 1974 by Erno Rubik.
I only learned how to solve the 3x3x3 cube this Year (2021) My late grandmother bought me one for my 9th Birthday in 1980... I practiced but it beat me... I forgot about it but I ALWAYS knew I would come back later and "Beat it"... I learned it in about a week in July 2021 with the help of videos on TH-cam
I will never be able to do sub 10 seconds... So I am just moving on to harder cubes... I am learning the 5x5x5 cube at the minute... I will beat it.
You can get sub ten with enough hard work
Anyone can do it
Good luck with ur journey
@@jeysonng6503 Thank you for the reply ... Once I worked out how to beat the 3x3x3 cube ..I decided to move on to more difficult puzzles rather than improve my time on the cubes I can already solve.. I can now do a 7x7x7 cube .. My times are not great but I can solve them.
Every evening when I get in from work .. I start with the 2x2 cube and finish with the 7x7x7 cube... I do this to keep my brain sharp and so I don't forget how to solve them LOL ..Kind regards Brian
EDIT... They are very addictive once you start to get into them and also I find them a "Switch off"
It's certainly possible. I learned over 3 years ago and now average around 9.70 and my pb is 5.12.
