  • In today's video I show you how I made a game board for the miniatures game The Walking Dead - All Out War by Mantic Games.
    I recently received my Kickstarter Exclusive version and you can see my unboxing video here:-
    The Walking Dead Unboxing - • Unboxing - The Walking...
    Please remember to Like, Comment and Subscribe.
    Materials Used
    24" x 24" MDF Board ( I actually used 12mm not 4mm!)
    Matt Black Emulsion paint
    12" x 12" cork tiles 3mm thick
    Super Glue
    Black, White & Green acrylic paint (cheap tubes from Poundstore)
    Yellow paint (I had this from Games Workshop)
    PVA Glue
    Green grass flock
    Woodland Scenics Medium Green Foliage
    All scenery either from Mantic Mars Attacks or from The Walking Dead Kickstarter.

    Just found this. Sorry, I'm late to the party. This looks GREAT! Lots of simple techniques that all came together really nicely. I love that you can use it for Walking Dead or Mars Attacks.

    Wow Blackjack.. I just started loving the Walking Dead : All Out War Miniatures game and you just inspired my artistry with replacing all of the cardboard and paper scenery pieces with real ones. Love your tips and tricks with using all of my moving boxes for something other then taking up space in the garage. HAHAHA!! But I will definitely use some corkboard to get that extra effect. Thanks again for inspiring me and getting me back into the scenery craft trade.

      Thanks TheKrazyErik - really glad you've got the bug back for making stuff. This was the first game I really felt like putting that extra effort into the scenery. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Hi my friend,I really like your board. I found it very easy to do. I've been having issues building a basic terrain board for my zombicide and heroclix, but this video helped alot. Hopefully you will show more videos like this.

    Thanks BlackJack a great tutorial. I watched it back on the day you released it and always planned to use your tutorial as big inspiration for my own board. Well a few days ago I made my board and it has turned out great! It is the same basic formula as yours but I used cardboard instead of corkboard, then I used a sand/polyfilla/sand mix and slapped that on the cardboard. It dried very well and very hard. So for anyone wanting to make this boad but hasn't got corkboard, use cardboard! :)
    Thanks again for the video, I am planning on making some tents very soon too :-)

      @BlackJackLegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jacky Brown - Glad to see it it inspired you to make your own board and great shout ion the cardboard/filler option. Would really like to see what you've done .... have you shared a photo anywhere?

      I hope this link works... I am no camera man LOL I am very happy with it and am going to make a camp board to connect via the grass if need be to make a double sized board; for which I am making some tents from your other tutorial :-)

      oh I didn't realise you could see the other photos! LOL I made the Deadzone board using the polyfilla/sand/paint mix too. I got big inspiration from LukesAPS youtube channel, you may be interested in some of his videos.
      I am absolutely loving Walking Dead at the momemnt and am avidly trying to make as much terrain as possible..that being said have you any other tutorials in the pipeline? :)

    Nice build with the board, added this to my TH-cam list for referring to at a later date, can I ask where you are based as I believe I can hear an accent that is suggesting Newcastle/Gateshead/Shields/Sunderland in the N.E of England.

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yeah I'm in Newcastle from Sunderland originally and worked in South Shields for 10 years so have a real mixed North East accent! Are you in the North East too?

    So because of you I went out to the craft and hardware store to get everything. Just finished doing the black base coat.
    I grabbed the wrong thickness cork board, too thin. But it'll work.
    What did you use to glue down the cork? Thank you! Really enjoyed the video.

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and great to hear it inspired you to make your own. I used Superglue to stick down the cork. It dries quick and sticks it down solid. You can also use a PVA glue but you just need to put something heavy on top of the cork and leave it to dry overnight.
      Why not follow me on Twitter and share your board when its done?

    Really liked this - as someone brand new to this type of gaming (and the whole painting miniatures thing is alien to me, too!) -- this at least gives me hope that it's not beyond the realms of feasibility to 'have a go' myself. Am also looking for a decent painting guide (for beginners!) to my 'vanilla' Walking Dead figures. Any suggestions?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey R A Bardy - the trick is to not get overwhelmed by some of the "pro painters" you see here on TH-cam and on Facebook. The minis are 28mm high and you'll be looking at them from arms length so don't stress about details when first starting out. I'm in the process of making a beginners guide so keep watching the channel. Unitil then I can recommend this guy th-cam.com/video/Xxm7Y0IJ10U/w-d-xo.html

      I just used a matt black non drip water based paint. I only used that particular one as I had it in my shed. It says on the tin suitable for wood and metal. Its the same as this one however they only seem to have white online.
