I like the cities listed on the bezel, instead of UTC time. Some of the other ones in full titanium have UTC instead of cities. So please keep reviewing these watches as they come!
I like the SSH129, however the outer bezel displays UTC instead of city names. If it had city names it would have been perfect. I like it’s simple black dial
Chris Redfield model owner here. These are true limited editions unlike some of the joke limiteds that Seiko has been known to release. Only 600 worldwide of this model and 600 of the all titanium Chris Redfield model - with 300 carrying the Biohazard branding and 300 carrying the Resident Evil branding.
I got the titanium version. Not limited. But I love it! If you need to trust that your watch needs to keep the correct time (that is the main task for a watch). This one is the best! And the tech is sick. Haven't taken mine of since i bought it. Got mechanical watches to. But they are only used for special events now.
Astron are my go to watch to grab if I can't be bothered setting a mechanical watch. I now have 2 as they are so awesome. I prefer the models sbxc003 and sbxc006, those were great versions with cooler case shapes and bracelets in my opinion. These have kind of ruined other watches for me though. The crystal is the clearest I have ever seen and I get a lot of compliments on them.
Good review. As for why Watch Enthusiasts don't embrace Astron and Quartz generally: MARKETING. Terms like Quartz Crisis are used to pretend that Quartz was almost the death of the watch industry (Were most people going to stop wearing watches because they became more accurate and affordable?). We are constantly told that Quartz is cheap and Mechanical is just better. Much like the average joe is convinced that Rolex is the pinnacle of high horology, the average watch enthusiast is convinced that mechanical is just better.
Any ideas where you can buy rubber or leather strap for the Seiko Astron? I have the ssh127 that don't come with either strap or rubber. I think this Astron will look good on either rubber or leather strap.
Astron is an amazing lineup IMHO they are the watch enthusiast's smart watch, all the functions you need in a great looking luxury package.
HUGE Astron fan! Have owned 3 and they spoil you if want supreme accuracy with Seiko's superb quality! 👍👍

Casio does it way cheaper in the oceanus line. Kinda looks like one too.
Love it as a tech toy, a resident evil tie in, and just a great looking watch. Looks like the Leon Kennedy version, there is also a Chris Redfield.
At $2800 I'd also be looking at G-Shock MTG and Oceanus from Casio which offer similar features and finishing at half the price.

Could you fix the brightness on the vids? Maybe turn off hdr mode in the camera?
GPS time is a no brainer. A GPS chip should cost $1 or $2. If the watch is solar it should be a required feature

The newer Astron's have integrated bands/bracelets. Lot less options.
