The best Jazz and truly a masterpiece. Toon+ with a perfect representation of the toon character from our imaginations with real world touches that couldn't be shown on the screen.

Still a great figure, and I'm digging the extra paint on this version. BTW, the hip flap speakers were in the original. Makes me sad that MT just aren't what they were tho.

I couldn't agree more... I have both this release and the original. Currently I have this one in vehicle mode and the other in Bot mode, mostly because I've been lazy. However, I do think I'll be using this one for the bot mode representation, because the paint is just so much better. The original release will be my vehicle mode representation. It's an incredibly well done premium release, and it has me very excited for their Premium Seekers.

I heard a long time ago they were definitely going to finish Brainstorm and Highbrow. But where are they?
I heard MT is on a break cuz they have a real business to attend to which dipped cuz of COVID and TF’s are their hobby/side project. Once their real business back on track so will their toys.

Jazz is my favorite character (besides the Dinos). I have the original Downbeat and the Zeta Jazzy. I also have the original G1 toy. I wasn't sure I wanted to get another Jazz (will be getting the FansToys one if/when they release him), but the deco on this version hits my nostalgic strings. Just because I still have my original Jazz. And I would love to display all those versions on a shelf one day. Thanks for the review, Bobby. You just convinced me to get this one too. It's always been a great figure and mold.
I was sold at the bold, old, cold mold section. Will most likely pick this up.

Ah Jazz. My First love and my very first Transformer. Mainly because it was the only one I could find at the time... Had to hide it under the shelving unit for about 2 weeks before I could afford it. Was so glad it was still there too! The store hadnt even got any restocks yet, they were so hard to get. Jazz was my only one before I found another.

I didn't want to doubledip at the time, so I went for the Toyworld version because it was more 'real life accurate' than the MT. Couldn't resist and got this new MT version because of the better finish, and I don't regret it one bit. Very nicely done imo.

First off: congrats on your 40th birthday. ‘Second off’: Great review. You are the only reviewer so far who’s pointed out that you get a sheet of decals to go with it.
Wished I learned that sooner: I have toyhax decals and the figure itself coming my way. I figured: “if I’m gonna get Jazz with all those decals, I’d rather go with realistic racing decals instead of decals that say “Agent Meister.”
Because I agree with you wholeheartedly on your point regarding the decals: I wished they would’ve updated it and brought it with the cleaner cartoon look with the decals on a sheet so I could’ve chosen between cartoon or toy look. I would’ve definitely gone with the cartoon aesthetic...
Despite all that, I still think that this is the best representation of G1 Jazz in masterpiece scale. And thanks to this Remastered version, I can finally buy this figure for about one-third of the money I would’ve had to put up for the Mk1 on eBay.
Hey, and maybe toyhax can now make a sheet of decals to retrograde the Remastered version to the cartoon look...
Update: I did NOT get extra decals with my MTRM-09R... Maybe most people didn't get those decals and that's why other TH-camrs did not mention them...

If you think that the first version is more toon accurate than this version, I'll trade you. I'm refining my collection towards the toon aesthetic, with a few MP toy versions that match my childhood favorites.

You got the add ons for the hip skirts in the first release of Downbeat though not sure about their Bounceback (Ricochet).
I may pick this up to leave in vehicle mode as I prefer the toon look of the first release. So tempting
I'm so glad this is coming out for the people who still need it, however I really wish they'd just do those last two coneheads. But at this point we might as well wait for the new Takara ones that will undoubtedly come along after the new Starscream.
They replaced the stripes with a way better blue, fixed the swirly grey legs and hood tabbing... on the toy version. Maketoys, what are you doing to me?
I just got the new SS86 Jazz. Can't wait till we get some toyhax sticker for him. Saw the renders for Fans toys Jazz, he should be worth the wait especially if his headsculpt and visor are better.
I've used to the decals on my jazz on the tail fin the two side ones fell off because they don't stick well to a rounded surface and the top sticker you can see the words from the old sticker right through cuz it's somewhat translucent. Just a heads up for everyone who's thinking about using the stickers, on a positive note when you take the stickers off the paint is still fine. :-)

Does transforming him feel any different? Like, I reluctantly gave away my Downbeat because some of the thin parts were too tight to move without worry, especially in the legs.

I think MT should release the G2 music notes version TFCON exclusive I'd buy it, bet lots more would get another jazz than more seekers/coneheads. What's wrong with me this Jazz #6 for me, idw GEN T, both zeta, MT golden stepper, TransformRollout for vehicle mode; gorgeous. This is one figure I'm surprised Takara hasn't done. After missing out on the first run of this, I may pick it up...or wait for the Fanstoys version to come out.
It's mainly about porsche, they don't give license to any products associated with war or similar. Plus takara might also need to deal with martini racing as well.
@@jkliao6486 I thought that was Volkswagen that was against war based vehicles? That's why it took forever for an official MP Bumblebee if I remember. I didn't know Porsche was the same way.
@@kronos6948 I think you might have mixed something together. VW at first agreed to give license to the MP bumblebee (MP 21) only if they would be based on the real beetle, not the cartoon version. And then they agree to the production of MP-45 even if it's the cartoon version.
@@jkliao6486 Turns out we're both right and wrong. Volkswagen owns Porsche, but the whole idea that neither one of them want transformers made because of them being war machines is bogus.

Maketoys better keep it together, they have the two figures I need for my collection without resorting to customs. Please hold in there and get that Guardia re-release out and I'll be one happy guy.
Nice looking figure, reminds me of NA Monero as overall look. My only concern regards maketoys itself: I'm still unable to get the replacement part I need for my Thundermanus so, for me, no more money wasting on their product. It's seems to me that they just don't care about costumers, and this is sad.

The best MP Jazz (possibly ever) seems to have gotten better.
It's ultimately a little frustrating that this and the original release both sit somewhere between 'toon and toy compared to what they did with their 2N and 2Y versions of Gundog. I agree with what you say about the silver but, now that we have silver, I find myself thinking "this would've looked great with chrome shins, gun and missile"! Understandable, really, though as the two versions thing will not have been the original plan.
I think the big news is that they said this was coming and it did. And at convential retail, no less. Bodes well for coneheads and successful coneheads would bode well for Headmasters. So I think this release is good news for all of 3P.
I broke down and got this because I wanted the toy deco.... Gonna chrome paint that rifle and missile. It is a good fig and I do like Jazz he was one of my favs as a kid.

Yeah i think im getting this, missed out on the original which seems like it was the right decision compared to this one.
I traded out for this version. Fortunately I was able to do it at zero cost d/t how much in demand the original still is.
I have first issue Downbeat and he is the EXACT same, so Idk where this premium comes from.
Extra decal in both modes and silver paint on the shins and feet. That’s it. It’s not exactly the same, but definitely shouldn’t have been branded as “premium”
I just got mine a few days ago. Its ok. Having all the other Jazz figures and I cannot say its my favorite. I like a lot of things about the Zeta version myself. I hate this guys legs and feet.
I'm surprised the decals didn't just have a "Jazz" sticker because they clearly gave zero fucks about trademarks when they made that. Ballsy move for a company who seems to be on the brink of death, but probably the closest we'll get to the real deal any time soon (assuming Takara ever actually makes Jazz, bothers with decals such as the Dunlop tires (which they probably won't) and it isn't a dumpster fire).
Nice-looking figure though. Curious to see how FansToys' Jazz turns out and how it compares to this older (but clearly still good) option.
I'm really hoping they reissue the original Downbeat eventually, I missed my chance on it the first time around and I'm just really not feeling this toy-deco.
If the deco is your biggest problem, then just buy some stickers from reprolabels for him and you don't have to wait

It's a fantastic figure but maketoys gives me some cheap vibes by not painting the weapons and in my and a bunch of other peoples releases not including the decal set which was one of the bigger reasons i got it in the first place.
I'm personally steering away from maketoys in the future which is a shame since they really know how to make a quality toy.
