  • Clifden is a lesser know town and for that reason a good pick for a home base to explore the Connemara region of north western Ireland.
There are some great hikes in the area including the wonderful Diamond Hill walk in Connemara National Park. Make sure to drive the breath taking Sky Road scenic drive which is part of the Wild Atlantic Way drive.

We travel to Clifden about two to three times a year from the US Pacific Northwest. My family emigrated from there in the early 20th century. We know the town well and have good friends there. Its a great small town and the "tourist factor" is moderated by the relative isolated location. [... all this changes during the September Arts Festival] Our preferred hangout is Guys Bar which you walked by in the video. I've done a number of videos in/around Clifden and the Connemara region, some which has been used by the Clifden Station House Hotel. See: th-cam.com/video/YC0pvVToqnk/w-d-xo.html
    Be well.
