If you're in contact with Halo, can you ask them to address the low temps as from what I understand this beast is an inferno and even on the lowest of low settings, it can't get down into the 300 degree range. Can a real adjustable regulator (not their push button version) be used to reduce the low temperature? I'm sure they'd probably say they don't recommend it, but that seems to me to be the only shortcoming of this beast. It would be nice to be able to just set it on low and forget it instead of having to fiddle with which burner(s) to have on when and such. Those trap guards are pretty cool, maybe they'll listen and come out with a paper towel holder? Thanks for the videos!
Halo's concept to the 300 degree cooking is in the preheat times. For instance if I have my regulator on low and I turn on all 8 burners on low and preheat the griddle for 8 minutes I will be right at 300 degrees. From there when you throw down whatever your cooking it's going to absorb some of that heat and energy to help keep the griddle to stay low. There is only one griddle out there that you can set it and forget it and that is the Loco. The Loco has thermostatically controlled burners and you can set it at a specific temp and the burners will turn on and off to maintain the temp. The Weber griddle according to the Flat Top King is the only non thermostatically controlled griddle that stays I think a little under 400 degrees on low.
@@griddlecookeatandmore Thanks for that info! I guess I'm in search of the perfect griddle, which evidently doesn't yet exist (combination of Loco & Halo perhaps?), but from all the research I've done, the Halo is pretty darn close. I guess like everything else, there's a learning curve associated with using whatever you choose to be the best for yourself and going with it. Like the old saying, variety is the spice of life! Cheers!
@@griddlecookeatandmore Great video! I am highly considering purchasing the Halo. I did see that there is a new griddle out on the market that looks really cool in which you can set and forget the temperature. The only issue with this new griddle is that you cannot do any type of zone cooking. But I believe it is called The Smokestone by Recteq Grills and it is the first griddle that operates off of wood pellets. You should check it out just for fun as it looks interesting.
@@TheProjectManager100 thanks for watching. I have seen a little info on the Smoke stone. A pellet fired griddle is interesting. I would definitely like to check it out. The Halo is great for zone cooking and all kinds of stuff. If you do end up getting a Halo be sure to use my DOUG10 discount code on Halos website.
I couldn’t agree more with basically all you said despite the fact that I still haven’t seen one of these in person. For some reason our Home Depot’s don’t carry one in stock. But they also don’t stock the Flatrock either. After wavering back and forth about a month or two I finally ended up buying a Blackstone 36”. Let me explain why: 1) Price. I’m on a fixed income so even with the 10% discount the Halo with tax was $978. Costco FINALLY got their Blackstone back in stock and it with tax was $434. This came with a front caddy, paper towel holder, magnetic tool holder and a hood, not the hanging cover. So it’s not the same as the $297 Walmart griddle. While I could’ve spent the money I decided that since we only spend four months here in Washington, during the summers, I didn’t need the best griddle here. Perhaps I’ll replace my 22” with a Halo when we return to Texas where we spend nearly eight months. That would be money better spent. I’ll keep following your page for that reason. You do a nice job on your videos. Thanks.
There is nothing wrong with the Blackstone I own 4 of them. I've seen the Costco model and it's nice especially with the rack in front. My Home Depot did not stock the Halo either. They did have the Flatrock there. You will definitely enjoy the Blackstone.
I am new to the flattop world but it seems like most of the things i would want to cook on it are in the 300-400° range. The fact that low is 500° really turns me off. I want something that can stay steady and not have to worry about temperature all the time when i am cooking allot of pancakes. What in the heck would you want to cook on high on this griddle? You are going to burn of all your seasoning
The high heat is great for stir fry, Fried rice, searing steaks, deep frying and so on. The way to achieve low temps is shorter preheat times. I hear mine up on low and I'm at 300 degrees and once you put the food down it's going to help regulate that lower temp. If you want low temp with control check out the Loco griddle. This griddle has thermostatically controlled burners so you set it to a specific temp and it turns the burners on and off to keep it there. Check out my older videos. I do a lot of cooking on the Loco.
Kind of have to agree with Johnny on this. For $1000, you shouldn't have to fight to keep your flat top in the temp range where you are going to cook 80-90% of your meals.
Your videos was ones that made me want to buy the Halo 4B. I had already purchased the Loco and had it delivered. Then I change my mind send it back to Home Depot and got Halo. And let me tell you I'm so glad I did. Thanks and keep it up!
Before I bought the Halo I bought the Loco griddle and have been using that mainly. As far as the Blackstone I kept it and also 3 other Blackstones and use them for camping and tailgating.
How mobile is the cart it sits on? Other reviewers said it was a little wobbly.. The casters seem a little small going over small bumps or not so smooth services
I 100% disagree. The cart is extremely sturdy and this griddle rolls better than my Blackstone and Loco. It will go right over a garden hose with no issue. My Loco with casters that are around 3 times larger will get hung up on the garden hose. I have a Halo pellet grill with the same style cart and I move it around all the time. I almost included it rolling over a garden hose in my video.
Love my Halo. I was worried about temps but man it’s not a huge deal as some make of it. Pretty simple to control with a therm gun. In Oklahoma this is a must with all the wind we get. This is the first one I’ve had that can hold cooking temps in the wind.
It's a beast. The griddle tops heat retention is 2nd to none. It's design that makes wind a non issue is great. I love mine and I'm glad you like yours.
I've gotten a lot of messages saying they bought a Halo because of my videos. One day I thought about a discount code and I asked Halo and they said yes. So here we are. Are you getting interested in a Halo?😉

I did not say it's better than a Weber even though it is better than the Weber Griddles they have out. I said the lid is comparable to the Weber grill on how well constructed it is.

The Loco is not a bad griddle but I will admit and you can probably attest too is the Halo is much nicer unit.
Wouldn’t it be easier controlling the temp by using the LP gas regulator option??
There is not that big of a difference between the two settings.

How did you level it?
The wheels are adjustable to level it
This thing just gets too hot man. I’d rather have the low end heat than the ultra high end.
I’d go Traeger based on the flattop kings experiments.
