I had this in a playlist labeled “junkie” because it was all the songs I used to listen to while high on H. I had this one as the last song on the playlist, because it always gave me hope. If I got to the end, I was alive still and always thought about getting better just didn’t know how. I’m 2.5 years sober now and I was just looking through my old playlist and found this. I think it’s the only song I’ll keep from it. Life gets better, if you try, it can get better than you’ve ever imagined.
Mental health is so f**king important. Too many people are ashamed and feel weak, because society is still an asshole. You can't fake a song like this, the energy is incredible and it makes me really happy reading all those comments here saying: "This song helped me". I'm suffering from anxiety disorder myself and can't say how thankful I'm for this song right now
JESUS SAVES!! He saved me from depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and behaviors. I almost died in 2012 and in 2019 until I finally called on Him to save me and HE DID! Not only did He save me, but He healed me, too. Go to him and ask for forgiveness. Ask Him to be in your heart and He will come to you. Ask Him to pour His Holy Spirit onto you and guide you through this life and walk with Him. Jesus Christ died on cross just so that our sins can be forgiven. No sin is too great. Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for us and resurrected from the dead. Confess with your mouth JESUS IS LORD. Call upon Him. The great I AM is coming soon! The creator of all things is soon to come! Time is running out! With love, I ask you to have faith. We all, believers and nonbelievers, will have to face His judgment someday. HE IS REAL AND HE IS COMING SOON! God bless you
@@daughterofyah80Jesus caused all my mental problems and leaving religion and becoming atheist was the thing that saved me from depression and suicide.
I cannot understand how it didn't become a global hit ... the song is a never give up anthem , and in today's society with the working class people struggling to make a living I think we need more songs like this giving us hope and faith rather than making songs bragging about money and cars and sex that become top 40 hits . I don't know it's so confusing to think this meaningful song never got the chance
"Are you scared to death to live." I've never cried so much at a sentence. But I'm still breathing and hopefully it will stay that way for the foreseeable future.
You keep breathing Brianna, life is a pretty wonderful gift. I have been breathing for 50+ years with beautiful family and not planning to give it away just yet.... Anyway, yes this song brought a tear to me as well. I hope we all get to see these blokes live again soon.
Same. Green Day, Sum 41, Blink-182, and etc were there for me, from the very beginning, to the very end. Childhood, teenhood, young adulthood, adulthood, just throughout everything in my entire life tbh. ❤️
@sharixinsanity7134 Yeah, alongside Bayside, plain white t's and Muse, they're the bands that help me keep pushing forward in life. They shaped me into such a strong independent person that has to keep going no matter how sucky the world is
You aren’t alone. This year my depression got so bad I was admitted to an outpatient program. Guess the pressure of feeling life passed me by, even though I didn’t do anything to warrant it, was too much. But I’m still listening to this song on repeat. You’re right, it’s healing. Just like Green Day’s entire discography. Anyway, hope you’re feeling better. Much love from one Green Day fan to another 🎸
@@thechaz83 I’m struggling to be honest but making it work to get better and back on track. I’m sorry all that happened. I can completely relate to your pain. A lot has happened this year and it’s mainly been awful for me. I feel like I’m just going to lose my mind.
I'm sure that no-one from the band will actually see this, but Thank you. I suffered a loss when my Brother died a few years ago in the marines. It has been you that has been keeping me still on this earth, and I thank you for that. I doubt that I would still be here, or let alone in the shape that I am in now if it weren't for you. "...I'm like a mother barely keeping it together..." This verse has such deep meaning for anyone who has lived with a woman struggling with mental illness.
An amazing song with an amazing video. Showcasing Billie's struggles and relating to a montage of others with struggles of suicidal ideation (girl on cliff/soldier who leaves gun in car/depression and anxiety mother with the fun/lonely kid walking/addiction/gambler throwing his cards and depression/anxiety/addiction/suicidal ideation are all things Billie has struggled based on new interviews us lyrics. Very brave soul searching song. Mike and Tre sullen looking at the empty mic waiting for their brother to come home after he faces his demons. All the side characters have a positive outcome. This video and song can heal and unite people who are facing struggles of any kind so relatable and heartfelt. Amazing. I hope this becomes a huge success on radio and wins grammy awards and video awards. This is powerful and as Green Day fans we need to make this viral.
This is probably one of my favourite songs from this album, cuz it reminds me of "Wake Me Up When September Ends. Many people didn't like it cuz it didn't sound like "Green Day", but it turned out to be one of their best songs. And so will this one I'm certain about it.
"I'm like a son that was raised without a father, I’m like a mother barely keeping it together" That one line has changed my life. I also lost a parent at a young age. Growing up I didn't know anyone I could relate to. The first time I heard this song I felt truly understood for the first time in years. After that I knew that no matter how alone I feel, I’m not alone.
Green Day is essence of my life. Green Day is energy, Green Day is my love. Green Day is just everything. This band means way too much to me to write it in words.
Rocky11 I cry listening to this song and I honestly don't know why! I hope I'm not the only one who does... Cuz that's... That's just embarrassing if I am 😭😂💦💦💦
Geowin Prince it's called "Still Breathing" because he went through an addiction four/five years ago that could have killed him. but it didn't. he's still breathing on his own
Hey girl, don't ever give up and keep moving forward!:) I know how hard things can be and I have been their! But no WAY Julia Durães gives up on herself, whether it be self confidence, self love or the people around you, live for you be you and stay humble 💯✨😌🙏👌 cheers from Canada
I have got an impression, just like anyone else. I have interpreted this as if it was a part of Billie's storyline. He entered rehab on 2012 and I suppose it had to be very hard... The fact Mike and Tre are in the studio or wherever they are without him is because he had to deal with it on his own, it was so personal nobody could help him. So Tre and Mike just waited for him to be okay, it was hard and difficult and Billie might have suffered but he succeed. That's when he arrives to the studio where Tre and Mike are. Billie had to struggle with his problem but he did it, he got better and he could return to his 'normal life' with his family and friends and band mates. The people on the video show all the phases and last with freedom. I have to admit that I love this video so much it's probably my favourite ever. Green Day are the best, this is unbelievable. Wow. (Sorry for spelling mistakes, English isn't my first language).
Millie Ihnen Totally In LoVE wIth this song.. MY Thanks Are with Green Day for getting back to the sweetness from wake me up when September ends etc. I also found another band viz Dream on Dreamer. Its also really good.
This song is like post boulevard of broken dreams. In my early teens when i felt everything was falling apart which that song described it well. Today still breathing is fighting and waking up. Because of you Green Day, you made me realize that life isn't fair and you need a little push forward, in order to live again. After all that shit I've been trough, you made me realize who I am and what kind of pain we went trough. This song is so powerful that I drop a tear sometimes. Thank you for everything!
I was raised without a father for 9 years then in 2005 I had a step dad that came into my life but, he was gone at work all the time so I still had to grow up with him being away now he’s changed his jobs now he’ll be closer now that means more step dad and step son bonding time now I’m so happy 😀 I never thought this would happen I’m so happy mostly for my mother and him though more family holidays now without him being away
@ClassiC RockeR well, my mom left my bio dad for some good reasons for bad driving, drinking problems, womaniser, anger issues, and not opened when it comes to personal growth so he’ll stay he wants to be but, It’s disappointing to me that he never wanted to spend time with after middle school I’m he used to come this way but, due to his lack of judgment he got himself in trouble with the law so now he can’t see as much as he used to which would be hardly anything he loves me but, in the tough love way type part of that reasoning is because, his upbringing as a teen that he had a step dad that bested him senseless for no reason at times but, that’s the thing my dad shows himself in different ways than most bio dads I guess he wasn’t as fortunate but, still he’s a man and he needs to grow up more if he was a man he would need to change if not then he’ll remain as an irresponsible man but, that’s his life but everything he’s done is nothing but not good things I really hope he turns himself into something better
Great Rock Music You Don't Know I'd say its in my top 5 off the album. Basically the right side is my favorite, with the exception of Youngblood. That's the worst song they've done by far.
Dear Green Day, you are one of the really few bands and artists who still produce and make great beautiful songs even when most of the others singers and artists have changed their music. You simply are a LEGEND
This song saved my life. I was being physically and verbally/emotionally abused from ages 9-14 years old. Life was hell. I contemplated offing myself countless times, attempted twice. The last was the most serious, when I was eleven. I got into Green Day at 13. I listened to this by chance, and I'm glad I did. I was absolutely miserable, just ugly crying. I had just got beat, and I heard this. It changed me for the better. Thank you, Green Day, for saving my life. I'm fifteen now, and I'm about to get adopted. Just know this: you CAN get out of parental abuse. It's hard to find people to trust, but it's possible. Have a Blessed day.
I have three moods 1.i skip through every song in my playlist 2. I let the music play with no interruption 3. I listen to one song on repeat for a week
1991 Green Day: 'Why don't you just leave me alone?' Still 1991 Green Day: 'Take me to the tracks at Christie Road' 1994 Green Day: 'Bite my lip and close my eyes, take me away to paradise' 1995 Green Day: 'Fucked up and spun out in my room, on my own, here we go' 1997 Green Day: 'It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right, I hope you had the time of your life' 2000 Green Day: 'These handcuffs are too tight' 2003 (Cigarettes and Valentines Album) Green Day: 'It's not considered stealing, unless you're getting caught' 2005 Green Day: 'I'm Still Alive and I Walk Alone' 2009 Green Day: 'Sing us the song of the century' 2012 Green Day: 'Gonna ride the world like a merry-go-round' Still 2012 Green Day: 'Oh baby, baby, it's fuck time' Still, Still 2012 Green Day: 'Calling all the demons, this is the season, next stop is therapy' 2016 Green Day: ''Cause I'm still breathing, 'Cause I'm still breathing on my own' I don't know why I did this LOL
My god. I've just watched this for the first time in maybe 8 years? Brings back so many memories. I had just had my daughter, and looking back, I was not well. "Like a mother barely keeping it together" hit home. This song resonated so much. Maybe even gave me strength to keep going when I thought I couldn't anymore? Actually so grateful for this song. I'm still alive. 💜
My best friend passed away this past Sunday March 11, 2018. She was 55. She had suffered her entire life from type 1 diabetes that damaged her heart irreparably and in the past year her health had been declining at a rapid pace and she was scared. We were in the car this November and "I'm Still Breathing" came on. She grabbed my hand and started crying and clung to me the entire time the song played. After the song was over she looked at me with tears running down her face and said, "I'm still breathing." I'll breathe for you now, Barb. I love you.
I was just listening to Back In The USA before this, and Green Day's songs and music videos have so much meaning to them. Not only are the songs appealing to the ear and the videos like candy to one's vision, but the lyrics mean so much when you really think about them. This song speaks of times that are difficult, but still continuing forward. In their new release, Back In The USA, it speaks and shows how we are being lied to an being manipulated by everything around us. Green Day, you continue to keep breathing, because your songs bring hope, life, and reason to many people. Thank you.
i know. GENUINE good band. Along with sum 41, Blink-182 and zebrahead for example. Fun loving, but also serious bands who are genuine and good people. with actual talent
I've almost had it all. Anxiety, depression, psych ward visit, meds, suicide attempts. Yet I'm still breathing somehow and going strong. Whenever I listen to Green Day I feel like it's speaking to my soul and helps me meditate on my trauma. It's truly beautiful poetry
this song never fails to make me cry. it reminds me that even when life sucks and the world is shitty, we gotta keep breathing. thank you, Green Day. you've helped me so much. love you all. edit: also, here's your reminder that you all matter and are loved. someone, maybe me, understands what you're going through. just know that you're stronger than whatever you're dealing with. keep breathing. stay strong.
I’m glad people are starting to appreciate it now. I feel like the Father of All album was so bad that it made people appreciate Rev Rad and the trilogy. For this song to have 16 million views now blows my mind.
Most bands start sucking after a while but Green Day never started sucking. Their sound may not be the same as it was in their earlier albums but they are still an amazing band. They are forever my favorite band.
I've going through a tough time lately. I've been feeling especially bad today, all I can think of is just doing it. The moment I opened this song a wave of calmness washed down me. Thank you Green Day. I'm still breathing because of you.
this song is the song I look to as a survivor of a few suicide attempts. it makes me insanely glad to still be alive, life would have never gotten better if it ended there, if you're struggling currently. trust me, it gets so much better as cliché as that is. thank you for fighting for so long, I know you're tired. but you're still breathing through all this pain, and if that's not a testament for how much of a badass you are, I don't know what is
I wont expect a huge number of likes or replies, but this song helps with my generalized anxiety disorder. Its kinda like a musical medicine for me Thank You Green Day The best band I have ever discovered
No matter what song Ive ever listened to and no matter what place or situation Ive been in ive never thought of or felt the need to express how a song has saved me...however this song quite literally saved me. It came out at my darkest moment on the radio and i would listen to that radio every day and this song came on every day for a while keeping my head up. Today is the first time ive listened to this song since being out from that situation and this song just absolutely washed me over with intense emotions. I cried and as corny as it is to say... Im once again thankfull Im still breaching on my own.
I gotta be honest, im an old school green day fan and i didnt liked this song since the begining. But i saw green day in concert two days ago, and billie joe sang this song like....two feet away from me and now im completly in love with the song.
I never had a bad life, I was privileged growing up... But even I had inner demons that broke me down, I only found this song 4 days ago and I cried because it was one of those songs that really speaks to a person. It shows that there is still hope.
me too, and because I could never talk about feeling bad because I knew people had it way worse, and this song made me cry so much and I needed to hear it
I had a playlist, forget what i named it, but this was near the end, signifying i was still alive after what my father has done (beatings, crude remarks, verbal abuse) and then i had fun songs like American Idiot and like Nuvlear Family at thr ebd
I just want to say, as someone who had a rough-ish childhood, your feelings are 100% valid. This isn't the trauma Olympics, everyone struggles in life, and everyone deserves to get help and be supported through whatever they're going through. I hope you or anyone else don't let anyone try to silence you when you bring this stuff up
This album got me through High school and bullying, loneliness, and insecurities... ✨ I remember that i turned on the radio and there were good news, Green day was releasing a new album that year, and their new single "Still breathing" premiered in that exact moment, yup, i was on the bus, going back to my home from school, and stilk breathing started playing for the first time on the radio, and that day was bad and sad as usual, but green day made me feel better, and made me feel i wasn't alone, and i cried all the way home. 🖤✨☹️
It's about Billie's battle with addiction Particularly with his more recent addiction to alcohol and abused prescription anxiety/insomnia medication. (Never mind all the other shit he was taking back in the 90's, which is a whole other matter entirely...). He reached his breaking point with his meltdown at the iHeartRadio music festival in 2012, and went to rehab a couple days later following the incident. He's been sober ever since.
This song is almost older than me, and it hits the hardest out of basically all song. This song talks about the hardest subjects, but bill, my man, wasn’t afraid
Every time I listen to one of these new songs I have the feeling I'd listened to them before, but I actually hadn't. Keep it up, Green Day rocks and I missed them.
This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Living through COVID with Australian lockdowns. Living in a rural area and 3/4 of my way through an engineering degree and was told I was diagnosed with epilepsy. Went into suicidal depression thinking everything had just gone to waste. Unable to drive or do anything I enjoyed. This song and Boulevard of Broken Dreams got me through that period. So proud I got myself out of that and am incredibly thankful for Greenday and their music!
Why the hell are people commenting "*gasp* is this really Green Day?" YES, this is still Green Day. They are still fucking amazing in my book, and if you dont like some of their songs, thats fine. When you ask if this is still Green Day, it just sounds kind of stupid. Just being honest though, not trying to offend anyone
Probably because a large ammount of Green Day fans are American Idiot and Basket Case fans. (meaning, they just disliked it because the verses are slower than the chorus instead of the whole thing being really fast tempo)
GREEN DAY IS LOVE GREEN DAY IS LIFE The first Western artists I followed ever in my life. Green Day got me into Rock and English music in general. Green Day are legends Long Live Green Day
Rus3 Sniipez Nah I'm not making my account public.. but There are many people on instagram and facebook that have met him randomly and have pictures with him.
Spanish were after the fountain of youth, Pirates and English were after it. When they got there, Green Day was there. Billie drank the good one, somebody else drank the other
Don't be nostalgic..it makes me sick how many of these comments are from fake fans who only know their popular songs.. Don't get me wrong, Blvd. Was a good song, but its just nostalgic as hell...and since when did knowing 1or 2 songs make you a fan?

Yeah, i totally agree with you mate.... Hope this year will suck less
Jakub Frei Chester oh god man he was my idol now I'm broke I cry at night knowing he's no longer with us why.😭
It's sad, but he is not feeling pain anymore... And i think he was a full of pain. But yeah, it brokes my heart too
FreeKickerz_Portland Is that because of trump?
yes
It's been a rough year. But we're still breathing.

yup!
Yes, yes we are!!!
the upcoming 4 years (Trump) seem to be even rougher and if we are still breathing after that we can really call it a victory
YES!

"I'm like a son that was raised without a father, I’m like a mother barely keeping it together"
That one line has changed my life.
Don’t listen to Marko (that other guy who responded to your comment). His opinion doesn’t matter.
Wow you must be fun at parties
Rocky11 silence is the enemy
Rocky11 I cry listening to this song and I honestly don't know why! I hope I'm not the only one who does... Cuz that's... That's just embarrassing if I am 😭😂💦💦💦
Marko Jozinović Well I guess your one of the 3K people who ARENT breathing

Hey, what about the 50 year olds? ;)
This song has helped and calmed me in many anxiety crisis, and also kept me alive. I just wanna thank.

Same.....
Never give up.
WOW AMAZING JULIA HOW COOL IS 😎 THAT LOVE YOUR COMMENT LORETTA
Wow.
(Sorry for spelling mistakes, English isn't my first language).
show* ooops
it usually doesn't happens but GREEN DAY ARE F***IN' BACK!!
Dude, they never left.
Well, with the trilogy they changed their logo in something I didn't like and made lousy songs but I love this album from the top to the bottom
They released a song last December on TH-cam. Even when they made the trilogy, they still we're the same guys.
This is the type of song you’d hear on a car radio and look out the window pretending to be in the music video
Obviously we all listen to green day's in car radio and imagine being in their mv

Thank you for everything!
well said.

Thank you. I'm still breathing. This song is one of the reasons why. Thank you.
Honesly, no other band has been around for so long and still made such good meaningful music. Green day never lets us down
I literally cried when he said “I’m like a son that was raised without a father” and they showed Billie. Fuck. 1:57
*I like
Bertholdt Hoover Sorry, English isn’t my first language. Thank you for the correction tho🤘🏻
@@nooneexists7497 I am so sorry for your loss
This song is so powerful, uplifting and beautiful.

One of Their Best Music Videos Ever!
The song is very emotional and meaningful, probably the best song of the album...

Great Rock Music You Don't Know And Outlaws is amazing
Great Rock Music You Don't Know true
Great Rock Music You Don't Know I'd say its in my top 5 off the album. Basically the right side is my favorite, with the exception of Youngblood. That's the worst song they've done by far.
Keshav Shivkumar outlaws and forever now are fucking beautiful songs love them

After the song was over she looked at me with tears running down her face and said, "I'm still breathing."
I'll breathe for you now, Barb. I love you.
Teri Coley Adams may her soul rest in peace and im rly sorry for ur loss

It's truly beautiful poetry

this song hits you harder when you know what it's about...
pretty much everyone gets it...
I dont
It's about Billie's battle with addiction
Particularly with his more recent addiction to alcohol and abused prescription anxiety/insomnia medication.

Probably because a large ammount of Green Day fans are American Idiot and Basket Case fans.
