I saw Eric play this last night at LSO St Luke's in London. Absolutely stunning and mesmerising.
The way he lets the melody just SING!! Wonderful.
The most emotionally powerful performance of this sonata I think I've ever heard! Speechless
Refined, sonorous, clean and very moving…no extraneous forte as some performers tend to add, he doesn’t add extra flourishes to broken chords or ornamentation which is beautiful. The hardest thing is simplicity.
Bravo. There is purity and simplicity in his playing. Here's hoping it stays that way.

The Henle edition actually has the repeat at the Grave, not the Doppio movimento, but maybe other editions have it the other way.

There's now a controversy as to whether the repeat should include the Grave. Personally I think to include the introduction again makes both a harmonic and psychological nonsense. Anyway this is one of those sonatas where to repeat the exposition is damaging to the structure and impetus. That's also true of the B minor sonata and many Schubert sonatas.

Lol. Yes, editions disagree with one another (as do performers) about where to start the repeat. It has been that way since the piece was written. One of the original manuscripts actually has the repeat at the very beginning, as do many editions, both old and new.
