This movie is definitely a metaphor for life. Men who think if they could only be good looking they could have everything they want, and women who are good looking realizing that nobody wants them for anything but their looks.
agreed, i was surprised at how deep this movie is. the thing i wish the movie touched on is friendship. women who are pretty usually have difficulties forming friendship (both with other heterosexual men and women). women become too jealous of her eventually, and men end up not truly being a friend.

Her life like most attractive women why that, is it probably filled with men pretending to like them as a person hoping to someday have a romantic conduction. She wanted to find somebody who loved her for who she was.

I have twice overheard guys complaining about the fate of “nice” guys…and knew both times that the guy would only chase the absolute hottest girls around - then complain about women being too “looks obsessed.”
That is true. I, myself, only felt attracted to the best gals out there. And i am mediocre at best. So, of cource i was rejected. Not planning on giving up, thought.

Honestly, I don't think he is ugly in a repulsive way. He can pass as cute if he dresses smartly and change his haircut. Or probably hot if he works out and lose some weight. I know many girls would find it romantic if a guy cooks dinner for her. Considering his skill as a cook and his personality, he'd definitely pass as an interesting person for some.

I know this is besides the point but it's amazing how people who don't wanna be rejected because they're "ugly" and say how personality is the most important, fall for people because of their outer appearance and not personality, like at his first confession he didn't see the problem with describing her looks when asked why he liked her, but wanted her to not pay attention to HIS looks and like him "for who he was"

I honesly saw it coming. It seemed more likely Hiroko and Motoe were the same person. Because Hiroko felt like too much of an important character to be left out, considering the guy would choose Motoe.

That ending has me conflicted. I'm glad but also mad. No spoilers but I wish that wasn't the twist. I rather have two women get hurt emotionally and one coming out the winner than one not existing at all.
Anyway this was a very fun recap. Your jokes make you distinct from other channels like this.
The "twist" isn't really a twist in the full movie. It's foreshadowed pretty heavily that they're the same person.

@@francisjimenez6367 I was also able to deduce based on the timing of him getting the suit, the first female lead leaving, and the 2nd one showing up. I hadn't realized the first lead permanently left at first. However, I think that since I read a lot of TVTropes I know what to look for in stories like this.
Still, I can see what you mean as far as the other woman being real and him loving her. The reasons he gave to the first lead were superficial, so it makes sense why she left. I would be a bit annoyed, though, if he only said the 2nd lead had a beautiful personality. So for me, him loving the same person regardless of what she looked like accomplished what I wanted from his character growth. Regardless if we agree or disagree, have a nice day. :)

I was stunned to find an Asian movie that even acknowledges the existence of unattractive people under the age of 80. They're normally just basically live-action versions of the anime where you have to be explicitly informed that whereas this or that character is "cute," this other one is much homelier, since you'd never guess it just by looking. (Not that Takuro actor is as hideous as he's described, but in most Asian movies the Hisae and Todo actors would be playing "average looking" people!)
Anyway, excellent recap to what looks like a fun and wholesome movie. I have to admit I thought Motoe would be wearing the Hiroko suit and not vice versa. Works much better the way they did it in every sense!
