i was shaking at the end of this i was jamming out to dark red for the longest time and i had no idea that he made it on his iphone. that's really the beauty of music and making art
TBH things might have been completely different. His restrictions on gear is what made him able to produce what he did, having the macbook might have meant he had access to so many professional sounding sounds that he didn't develop his style.
This is one for the history books if Steve Lacey can make great music for himself and other big names in the industry with just an iPhone it should remind us that it's not the tools it's the artist. Use what you have to your advantage. :)

I produce songs on Garageband on my phone and started out doing so to see if I should invest in producing and production equipment before I even knew Steve did this, but I thought the fact that it was produced on an iPhone hindered the beat's validation, so I thought I shouldn't do it. When I found out Steve made such good quality beats and it was unnoticeable that they were produced on an iPhone, it gave me confidence to keep doing it.
