Shared this video on my community page today. Really professional and great info. I agree with 100% of everything you said. We constantly get comments saying “regular people can’t sell like you guys do” and you have proven them wrong. Just a hard-working dude that’s killing it on eBay. Keep up the good work, man! My advice: NO DEATH PILE!!!
If it is worth buying, it is worth listing that same day. Yes, that same day. It doesn’t matter if it is 1 thing or 20 things; all must be listed. Two benefits: 1) Your money isn’t tied up longer than it needs to be 2) It helps you be more regimented and selective when sourcing. “Do I really want to list a $6 pair of shoes that I will sell for $15 in 3-6 month?”
Pro tip: When pulling comps in the field, go ahead and choose “sell one like this” for the things you put in your cart. This creates a draft so you won’t have to look for it later. If time permits, I add a price to the draft based on the comps I just looked at. This approach significantly reduces your listing time when you get home.

You will be amazed how good it feels to know that you might wake up the next day with a sale or bid on something you just bought. Again, make sure to make draft listings while you’re in the store.

Also alot of well though out information that is as they say “STRAIGHT FACTS”!! Recycling night in any downtown business area - buffet of boxes. Also, recycling centers in any town allow you to take the materials people drop off. It's the same as going to the store for new materials. As an environmentalist, it's a totally worthwhile endeavor and really takes the same amount of time to go to either of these places and reuse packing materials. I also have small business owners who hate to waste all the packing materials they get - who drop off their packaging to my front porch. That keeps be quite stocked.

Lots and lots of good stuff here. I really like your approach and content. NO DRAMA. So refreshing in the sea of content out there. Great quotes sprinkled throughout. I have committed to 5 daily listings also and I am in "grow mode." It's my first year. I think it takes me a lot longer to list than you. I can go down a rabbit hole sometimes since there is still so much to learn. But that is taking a toll on my sleep and the rest of my responsibilities. Also, I am still setting up storage systems so that takes time. There can be a lot of emotion in this activity, stark ups and downs (no sales! sales! bolo! slump!) you give a good reminder of the importance of being steady and you are a good example that this pays off. So much content is simply trying to create urgency so the presenters can profit. So they advise - don't miss out on these great buys! etc. It can be overwhelming. The tortoise wins the race. Thanks for the validation.

This is one of the best reselling videos I’ve ever watched. Your information is really succinct and I do most of these things myself, but I’m also doing offline selling (antique mall and consignments) and I feel like that’s not going as well as eBay is for me. I’ve been selling on eBay almost 2 years now and have been using all kinds of different methods for tracking my inventory/bookkeeping~ there is a general need for something better. Would love to beta test your app! A feature I think would be cool if not already added is the ability to track non-taxable goods such as inherited property. Also the ability to track more than one eBay store (even if it costs extra) but you may have already thought of those things.

I'm still getting started, so I'm focused on my office set up and stocking shipping supplies so I can find things and its efficient. For that reason I'm the guy looking for nuggets at the last few hours of estate sales or hitting garage sales before closing. I have limited space so I lean towards buying things that sell quickly, as opposed to the best deal or expensive items with killer margins. I always offer any help to estate sales companies on the last day, its things like that that give you an edge over your competitors, and for most of us what we do is extremely competitive!

@@justinresells It was crazy. Scammer from Moscow in Mass. bought 28 orders of children's records (89 albums, very heavy) and while the item was just updated as in NJ, opened 28 "defective item cases". eBay didn't seem to care, told me "you wrote to the buyer, wait for their reply before we can get involved". "Do I need to reply to all 28? "No, we see you replied to her". Well, suddenly, all the ones I didn't reply to started-auto refunding. We had already reported her, no reply from her communicating to let us know the packages dimensions weight for a return label, so I panic refunded 20 items. She got suspended by Trust & Safety. My bad, trying to at least keep fees/health account, I should have waited then appealled. Lost 250+GBP. Funny thing is, the item was still updating 7 days after they were suspended and eBay wouldn't grab my refunds back.

After watching your video, you have helped and inspired me to take some more action toward starting off as part-time. 2023 has been very tough for our family so adding this element of income can definitely help. Thank you 🙏🏽 for sharing your story, tips, and simply, your genuine-ship.

Great video! I'm glad I found your channel. I've been selling on eBay since 2002, started as a hobby. But got serious right when the pandemic hit. It's been a great side income for me in addition to my full time job. Looking forward to watching more content from you!

I did a search for usps ground advantage shipping for ebay and you were about 5-7 down. So glad I clicked on you! I really like your format and great mic! I have been doing ebay for a couple years on the side as a hobby. Within the last few months I've decided to make it my main priority. I like that your style of working fits perfectly into my ocd brain.😁 I have a couple questions...Do you have an app that you use to track mileage and do you put any kind of business card or note in your packages?

Thanks for watching! I like eBay obviously -- they are the largest and most seller friendly marketplace in my experience, though you can find success on Amazon (a bit harder to get into as a seller with way more rules) and Mercari (much smaller audience).

Great video. Interested in your beta for the app. I built my own 'app' as well leveraging Microsoft sharepoint and power automate functions. It works well, but something with api access to pull directly from ebay would be better. Cant seem to get there with my current setup.

Thanks for watching, Rob. If you want to sign up for the beta, I created a quick Google form to collect email addresses here: forms.gle/zmBi8GVBNpABjVCQA That's cool that you built your own app as well; I'd definitely be interested in getting your feedback on our app once we are in beta. We do integrate directly with eBay and ingest all listing and sales data automatically.

It’s all about keeping the wheels turning , lots of inventory at reasonable prices . People wonder why they can’t sell inventory when they are asking top Dollar , the key is to shift as much as you can with a reasonable markup don’t get greedy . That’s how hot cakes are made 😬

Just went into my eBay account and saw that a bunch of active listings had ended and not automatically renewed. I had to relist everything but literally lost all my watchers and all of them. Really frustrating and trying to reach a person to talk to is virtually impossible. Honestly want to just have a garage sale and sell everything for what I bought it at and get it off my hands. The worst part about selling high end street wear and sneakers is that a certain demographic tries to rip you off. Either claiming they never received the package minutes after a delivery notification or saying they want to send something back because they don’t like how it fits them. I’m not spending my time sourcing then paying for packing materials and shipping so you can try something on and see if you like it. That’s what the store is for. Gave the reselling thing a try but the profit margins are too low and eBay is too frustrating and has the absolute worst customer service to rely on for the bulk of sales.

If you are thinking of this kind of business, there are a few more things you should be thinking about. Cost for storage (even if you use a portion of your home), your auto/gas expenses (going to sales, meetups, etc), cost of shipping materials (he may have lumped those in, but don't forget them - it adds up fast!), cost to prepare items for listing (cleaning/taking photos/etc). That's just a few. Also, since he didn't go through the income taxes, be aware that you will pay self-employment taxes on this kind of income. That means whatever your income tax bracket is + 13.2%. For most Americans, that means in the range of 25.2% to 37.2% of your profit will be due at the end of the year in federal taxes.

great additional context. thanks for sharing!

    • @smiltastic
      @smiltastic ปีที่แล้ว +1

Also, this is why it's very important to keep track of what you've spent all year purchasing all of the items you sold. Self employment tax is one hell of a game changer but having your yearly expenses ready can minimize the amount you're paying in taxes

Your numbers blow my mind. First of all, you're basically selling every single thing you list. That alone is astonishing. But then, your average net per item is very solid. You basically sell only about 30% more items than I do, yet profit nearly double pre-tax, and all at about 20 hours per week less. Jelly! Very glad things seem to be working out for you. To soothe my spirits, I'm just going to conclude that I'm in a rotten sourcing area. :-)
