Having moved from Pascal to C and C++ and then back to Pascal and back to C++ .... I have such admiration for Niklaus Wirth. My years using Pascal were some of the most productive and happy of my career.
So grateful for starting my programming endeavor with Pascal. It left a permanent footprint on my future carrier. It was, is and will be the number one programming language for learning computer programming.
Funny, at position 0:18 the video states "Prof. Niklaus Wirth 1884 Turing Award Recipient"; didn't think he's that old ;-) Interesting interview with a lot of insights anyway.
I expect not. Anyone with a decent foundation in computer science, as I have, who studied computer languages in a computer science program, as I did, should not think C++ is very good.
Read his paper 'plea for lean software'. You will know. I wish if we had strong willed academia, we wouldn't be in this mess. All academia is bought up, top teachers are working for corporations.
RIP Niklaus Wirth.
Thank you for Pascal, my first programming language.
me too

Un procer de la informática! Gracias por todo lo que nos dió! Ojalá tuvieras el reconocimiento que te mereces siempre Niklaus.
RIP Niklaus💙
Fasinating talk, Niklaus Wirth is very generous. Thank you very much.
Thank you, Great Master, you gave us so much. RIP
i love Pascal
me too
Thanks Niklaus...
A reference for all of us, programmers! He will not be forgotten.
Great to see and hear this near legendary person's story and link episodes of computer history
Thank you.
Pascal was my first programming language!
Uma lenda da computação!
THE MAN, THE LEGEND, Niklaus Wirth!
I wonder what he thinks of golang? It feels very Wirth-y.
Excellence at its best.
Замечательный человек!

Excelente reportaje a una leyenda de la informática!!!.
I worked on a commercial product that was written in Pascal: the Control Data Corp. 2550 communications processor.
RIP
Epic!
People should take note of 1:36:00
RIP 🙏
I get the distinct feeling he does not like C++. 🙂
