It is really hard to find good, reliable shearers. Most in our area are older and retiring from the circuit. I’ve had the worst time finding someone to come out since we were gifted sheep 3years ago. These two are very professional and They do an amazing job. We only have 3 sheep and they still treat them as an important job. I was watching some sheep Shearer in Australia. The people raising the sheep found one of their rams that escaped during a storm, 3 years prior. He hadn't been sheared and was in really bad condition. They chose a guy to shear because of his skill and compassion. I watched as this guy literally butchered that poor animal. I’m not talking nicks I am talking huge hunks of flesh taken. Thank goodness there was a veterinarian there. I had watched you shear one almost as overgrown as that one was and I said to myself, I bet you Katy would not have even nicked that poor animal. I enjoy watching you work.

I have been binge watching the shearing loving the music, narration, video quality. I enjoy the commentary on the types of wool and personality of the animals. These women are rock stars, so creative and inspiring. Plus I enjoy homesteading, products from natural resources made at home. Such a joy! Keep making videos!
What an awesome couple! It’s really lovely that they’ve known each other since preschool and now get to work together. It seems like a really interesting job too!
That's only $6,666.66/month, minus expenses, taxes, maintenance on the property, feeding, vet costs for the sheep, etc? Sounds good on paper, but w the long, 24.7.365 hard work, property taxes, income tax... Not so sure the numbers crunch so well. It's sad.
These two gals are not just shearing sheep, they’re educating us all in what it takes to both run a business and educate the public. Their videos are so entertaining, I’m amazed that they can shear sheep all day and still find time to expertly edit the videos. Maybe they do that during the non-shear months of the year!
What an incredible episode! Such a well-spoken individual, I wish her and her wife all the best and hope they're able to get more reasonable work hours that don't burn them out so quickly.
@@StrawberryCopper It's split between the two of them, so that $80k is $40k each. I wish this video had gotten into whether that's all take-home pay or whether they have to use part of it on their travel and equipment.
@Jasmine Contreras My guess is that shearing the smaller frame of a goat would be more fiddly and take longer. So maybe not as profitable a customer! Katie probably has to concentrate that much harder not to cut skin, tendon, muscle or bone with her fast buzzing shears. Also, I don't think the pelt of a goat is as dense and fuzzy as that of a sheep or alpaca. So again, not getting that satisfying "peel back" effect with the goats. These are just guesses.
I am fascinated by Katie and Darian and their wonderful work as shearers. And I’m so happy to see all the love and appreciation they are given in these comments, including the positive reviews by actual customers. Katie and Darian are professional, skilled, compassionate towards the animals and considerate of their owners. Plus they are joyous, positive rays of light. I literally spend at least an hour a day watching Katie from Right Choice clipping farm animals. It is immensely satisfying to watch. And it does *not* look easy.
I love watching your channel and I’m not sure why except for the satisfaction of seeing the way the coat comes off. I’m a single person business owner and I get where you’re coming from. If you get sick, there’s no ‘calling in’! You work much harder for yourself than you will for a company with fewer perks and benefits. Best of luck to you and your wife!
Congratulations. So many people are complaining they can't find jobs that pay enough. But the two of you went out and made your own company to do what you want and enjoy, with the lifestyle you want and make enough to support it. I wish more people would think creatively to do what you have done. I enjoy watching your videos, I can't tell you why, but it sort of soothing and interesting!
I just loved this story! They are doing such a great job and working so hard! I think they could treat themselves to more days off, but they are doing what they love:)
@AZPeach They explained that shearing these fleece growing animals is definitely seasonal work in Texas. And that most get shorn twice each year. For the animals' health and comfort, they get those heavy fleeces off by the end of July, so they're cooler over Summer. And they begin their bookings in March. The animals keep their fleeces over the Winter months for warmth. So their shearing work was described as intense - 7 days a week, moving around the state, for about five months total. Bookings from farms would quieten off between August - Feb.
I don't know why it isn't mentioned anywhere in this piece but this is one of my favorite creators on TikTok. So soothing/satisfying to watch! I love this page even more now after hearing the backstory!
These girls are amazing! And no matter how much they make it's not enough! They are hardworking shearers in ALL kinds of weather! And they deal lovingly with all kinds of disaster animals! Katie is such a careful animal handler! I see how she cuts the fleece so carefully so it is in the best condition for processing! Not double cuts for her! ❤❤❤❤ Great pair!🎉🎉🎉
Your logic is inverted: it’s *always* been the conventional wisdom that office jobs were better paying and, for as long as there have been office jobs, easier and “more respectable.” That was because we were - for so long - a mostly agrarian population that wanted to “better” itself. Being in the city where information and change were happening, rather than removed from them on the farm, seemed like the answer. But when *everyone* is in office jobs, and blue collar jobs go wanting, the pay scale flips. There’s also the snob effect: “working w/one’s hands is for peasants”, whereas it is actually an art, if done right (as anyone who has plumbing or has hired a carpenter or electrician knows) and is very rewarding. And should be regarded as such.
Hard labor has an expiration date on it, that’s why. It takes the tax on the body over time. You can make big money during your youth, but it will catch up with age.
I have followed these two amazing ladies on the TH-cam shorts and just marvel at their energy and skill. Here in the real world of Oz, we need shearers badly. If she wanted to come to Oz, she will be busier than a one arm paper hanger. Cheers

Can't get enough of Katie and Darian videos! It's interesting and wonderful to watch them work. I think part of their success is the way they relate to their clients (the ones getting the shearing). They make sure that the animals aren't traumatized so that they don't get freaked out on future appointments. This was one of the most grounded and realistic videos you all have done, she has such great insight and perspective and i thought she talked about the reality of turning a passion in a profit and how to find balance in it all
Plus doing the work with you're wife. Amazing. Love to them.
Katie is my girl crush! I respect her for her determination attitude compassion and skill! She's absolutely one of funniest people and it makes what she does even better! Good job Katie (and wife) happy to know you a little more! You two make a difference in the world! Thank you for sharing! Take care!
Honestly!
This !! ❤
Yes!
These girls have their own YT channel. Absolutely love them. They’re so gentle with them ❤️🐑
She sheared my sheep and did an amazing job! She & her wife are the best ❤️
That looks like very hard work. I think they need to be charging more. They look like a happy couple that enjoy their work. Kudos to you both!
Lmao you really have never seen a construction site?
dude she said she's make 1000$ a day that's a lot of money
Please stop thinking from now on
@@X.TheLastKeyblade shhhh don’t bother with her.
She’s probably the type of person that wonders why soldiers don’t get paid as much as professional athletes
@@X.TheLastKeyblade not all construction sites are that hard working. If you look at the laborers, yes, but besides climbing and getting into places, a lot of the trades don't have to lift material that heavy over and over.
Great to see these two getting recognized this way. I love their social media vids too.
This is by far one of the best features on this channel. Its a very unique skill set that is in demand. Hats off to these hardworking women.
Wow! this is wonderful keep videos coming love this from South Africa 🐏
Glad to see hard working people making decent income again after that scalper episode.
What was the scalper episode
@@ConnieBTV teenager reselling things
i cannot stopppppppp laughing! hahaahhahahaa
That's only $6,666.66/month, minus expenses, taxes, maintenance on the property, feeding, vet costs for the sheep, etc?
Sounds good on paper, but w the long, 24.7.365 hard work, property taxes, income tax...
Not so sure the numbers crunch so well. It's sad.
@@majoroldladyakamom6948 - well, when you put it that way! 😀
Yeah, but wouldn't it be nice to earn that much and only have to work 5 or 6 months a year???
@@StrawberryCopperbut no pay for that 5-6 months that you don't work!
@@theposhmaniac5169 What??? $80K for 5-6 months work??? I make $40K working the entire year. They're doing great!!!
@@StrawberryCopper It's split between the two of them, so that $80k is $40k each. I wish this video had gotten into whether that's all take-home pay or whether they have to use part of it on their travel and equipment.
@@lraab Taxes have to come out, too. Still, they are able to take on part time jobs during the rest of the year.....lots of folks do that.
Just came here to say I watch her on tiktok every night. I love watching her!!
This is super sweet 🤘🏼💕
That was funny when she said she loves shearing all different types of animals but not goats 😂
Don’t you want to know “the story” about goats now?! 😜
@@moremerry57 Yeah, definitely I want to know why she hates to shear goats.
Goats are intelligent and known escape artists, probably has something to do with that lol
Billy Goats. Strong Musk smell increases with age. Not everyone keeps their animals bathed & in show conditions.
After watching Clarkson's Farm I have a lot more respect for anyone trying to sheer sheep! She makes it look easy!
What was the scalper episode???
@@ConnieBTV episode 6. He attempts to sheer some sheep in that episode.
I am so glad to have found this TH-cam channel. These great ladies are truly inspiring.
I love how you are with these animals. Even though they might give you a hard time you are still so gentle and caring. If I had sheep, llamas or alpacas I would definitely hire you and your wife to shear them! I really enjoy your short videos. Your talent just amazes me! Keep being your amazing selves but make sure you take care of yourselves. Even though you make it look easy I know it's hard work! Bravo!
I watch Katie everyday (Darian too; however, she’s usually not behind the camera as much) and I am so very impressed by her skills and by the way she treats the animals in her care. They are living their dream and I am so happy for them. My daughter is currently attending to A&M and I am a nurse in Kansas. I miss her so and if I was given any sort of chance to work for Katie and Darian I would in a second and move back to Texas! Love you guys! Keep it up! Thanks for educating us and making these creatures comfy and beautiful ! 🦙♥️✌🏽
The job is very cool, and then we get a really sweet love story as a bonus? Love it! 😊
The first video of hers I've seen was her shearing what she called a potato 😂! Love it! You can tell she loves her work and animals despite how hard it is. I hope she and her wife care for themselves and continue to do well💖
Honestly, more trades and vocations, and representation.
Seeing all that wool come off is somewhat refreshing
😭 agreed
Go on her TikTok. It's amazing
how can two women marry that's not possible..I'll keep my sister away from goats from now on

Praying that you reach 120$ target this year
So cool and I'm envious! They are perfect for each other.
Im a born amd raised city girl that has not seen a sheep since a trip to the petting zoo as a kid, and i love her videos , they make me smile, i love how she calls their name and personality in the narration, i wish them all the best always, ill be watching 😍
I loved the TH-cam video where she had difficulty wrestling a sheep down so she had her wife do it! It was so funny! They’re an awesome duo! Congratulations to you both you rock!
I literally spend at least an hour a day watching Katie from Right Choice clipping farm animals. It is immensely satisfying to watch.
And it does *not* look easy.
Preschool couples are crazy rare let alone an LGBT one!
I love the lady's the skill compassion for these animals and attention to detail is unbeatable ❤ I follow and watch every video .
I’ve been watching these two for a while now and it’s so good to see them getting recognized for their hard work and great character!!! Gig ‘em!! 👍🏻
We got told that we needed office jobs for so long that anyone who doesn't work in office job and works in hard labor actually makes more money
Your logic is inverted: it’s *always* been the conventional wisdom that office jobs were better paying and, for as long as there have been office jobs, easier and “more respectable.”
That was because we were - for so long - a mostly agrarian population that wanted to “better” itself.
Cheers
i love how relaxed they seemed about being sheered lol, kinda annoyed but also like "eh this isnt baaaa-d" ( sry had to make the dad joke)
I’m a great grandmother I’ve so enjoyed watching your videos your a pleasure to listen to and funny without being rude, as others have said your private life is private.🇦🇺💓
This story is awesome! Great that they’re able to make a profitable business out of what they love to do!
It’s called work ethic and you two have it in spades. Round of applause! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, isn't life crazy how it works out. You two met in kindergarten that something special got married and now you work together as a TEAM very special. Took a skill and honed it to perfection, you both work so hard. I'm very proud of you and I very rarely ever say that. CONGRATULATIONS on EVERYTHING (-:
If only more Texans thought/felt the same. I admire these ladies, they are hard workers & inspirational in so many ways.
Can't get enough of Katie and Darian videos! It's interesting and wonderful to watch them work. I think part of their success is the way they relate to their clients (the ones getting the shearing). They make sure that the animals aren't traumatized so that they don't get freaked out on future appointments. I've seen other people shear animals but it's something about these two women that are different and special when they shear. I hope they become financially secure in their business and continue making those videos!!!🐏🐑🦙🐐
These ladies care for the animals well being and they care about how there clients see them as in taking good care of the animals.
She’s 100% right, the truth is when your passion be comes your work it will still feel like work more often than not. So it’s just about what kind of hard work you’re interested in.
They are wonderful. I love watching them do their magic. Katie puts a light kiss on the sheep sometimes before she starts. They are beautiful ladies and are in the right business 1000%
Wow… it was great to hear how how Katie and Darian got their start. I’m of the same opinion as everyone else who commented here - don’t give a flip about their personal life… except to see how happy they are together! I almost wish I had a small heard so I could hire them to do my shearing!
I've been watching Katie's TH-cam channel and she is amazing! She really loves her work and is so gentle and caring with the animals. I hope their business thrives! 👍💓👏
This was beautiful. Thank you so much for being so open and real.
She is a hard worker and does a excellent job. Deserves every penny.
Lady bosses come in all job categories! here for it!
The only gentle shearers I've seen. They are sweet docile babies and they deserve gentle hands like yours😇🥰😍🤩
Absolutely love watching you work, listening to your stories, hearing the sound of the shearing tools, and share the joy of you working with your wife. You make something I knew nothing about fascinating and it's incredibly satisfying to see an animal bogged down in their own fleece be freed from it for the season by your skill. Please keep making your videos and I will keep watching
Katie & Darian do amazing work!! They work so hard to help people keep their animals happy & healthy. I’m glad they’re getting some well deserved attention.
I've taken care of sheep just when a friend would go out of town. They were Suffolk as you well know are a VERY large breed. When I see you take down sheep and alpacas you make it look so easy. I think you both are very brave to handle them as farm animals can be so unpredictable. Then add they spit...lololol.
Thanks for showing that women can handle such a male dominated field. You both rock!
Katie & Darian- Hats off to you!!
You are too wonderful ladies! I only know you through your videos, but what you have shared is spectacular.
I admire you as Strong Women, Business Owners, and as a Couple working together.

I love seeing these unique jobs featured!
Staggeringly impressive. My back is screaming at me just watching our shearers work each year and they're big lads.

Awwww .. I just LOVE watching these two on their youtube channel, they are dedicated and so hard-working .. they really deserve every single dollar they make, and more!

You ladies are really passionate about your work and it shows on every videos. I must say I am stunned on the income. 17 hours days 7 days a week all your equipments and expenses on the truck gas maintenance hotel food,… there is not much left your you both. Since Covid Everything has gone up and for a reason. Hope you have been increasing your prices. Sorry it’s not my business and I am just concerned for you both.
Sending you best of success and kept those video going hoping it being you money, lots of money. ❤
You two are an outstanding working role model for the young folks. God bless you both and your career.
Wow-the technical skill, the risk, the VALUE these young women offer… The rate is unbelievably low. These amazing gals should get *at least* $50 per animal (more for the difficult ones!) with a high traveling fee to show up AT the customer’s farms. Plus a nice generous tip for how awesome they are to work with. Fantastic role models for young women too. (Mom to two teenage daughters here…) Go Katie and Darian!! Thanks for showing what and how you have created this awesome life and service.
Love this series. It exposes a lot work people normally don't think of. Also that if you enjoy it, and do it well you can be well paid.
I cannot believe your love story. So incredibly rare. Continued success, love! I love you two!
These two ladies take care of our goats and llamas. They do it more as a favor to us, because I can’t believe its worth their time to make a stop at our small place. They are super amazing with the stress free way they handle our animals. I think they are great and I’m proud to know them.
Thank you for sharing, been following a while and just admire the way you go about the shearing, also the sensitive way you treat the animals !
I love her, I hope she expands and hires more shearers to gain income without all the labor. If I had sheep I’d hire her!!
Such a great couple. Loved this video that explains the HARD work and their private life. And in every posting how wonderfully they deal with the animals. 💕💕
I love the rhythm Katie puts into her 'art.' Katie & Darian do good work. Their love & respect of animals shows in the way they handle them. You go girls, I got one am proud of ya'll's accomplishments.
Loved the biographical info. Sweet story of your lifelong friendship w each other. You two are the heartwood of America. Gig ‘em ladies! ❤
Amazing skill!! It takes me over an hour to shear a sheep because I rarely do it, and it isn't neat like that. Wish they lived closer.
I'm so happy to see stories like this, good hard working people thriving.
I love these two! I follow them on multiple platforms and they’re awesome 🥺
No one should care what your lifestyle choice is only that . You do an amazing job shearing. I watched many of your videos. I don't think you charge enough. The heat, smell, getting pooped or watered on don't they spit too? Traveling equipment job Hazzards getting bite, hurt. The lice or flea's, dirt. Good thing you don't have allergies. I sneeze and cough, my eyes itch just watching. Glad you had a passion and turned it into a living. Keep doing what makes you happy 😊
I love watching this woman work, she’s not only inspirational when it comes to work, but personal life as well
This couple need an award for animal humane rights. They Love the animals, they love their job, they have the lowest rate of cuts on animals. Someone please donate some supplies, medical first aid, grinding wheels, blades, if you really want to help the animals. Please someone donate some new type of animal based life and health insurance for humans, especially these humans. After wrestling with humans sized quad pedals for two decades they might need to set up transportation for the animal groups of five and below, to a local training school. just saying half travel half training. We need more fur farms that let kids know how to take care of animals and become the next generation of apprentices.
I don't know how many times I've watched this, but I find it very interesting and inspirational every time.
This is really interesting. I wondered how you got started, and I never knew that sheep shearing could be so dangerous! I can tell that the two of you put the animals' well-being ahead of anything else. You're always so gentle with them, and they generally cooperate and aren't afraid of you.
I’m addicted to their TH-cam channel and it’s great to get more backstory. I love to see someone find a job that they are good at and have a passion for. I can’t believe how young you were when you got married and started the business.
I really appreciate your professionalism and great work! Blessings to you two !
