ABOUT ME
I’m 31 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 600 breeding ewes.
I shore over 15,000 sheep this season in UK and I also travel to Norway for shearing in March and September. (Covid messed it up this year)
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on TH-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!

Did you know that the Bleu be Maine was created from British genetics. The bare blue face comes from the Wenslydale, but they didn’t inherit the fleece.

the Rouge de l'Ouest came from crossing local French Loire landrace sheep with Wensleydales and Bluefaced Leicesters.

I am not a sheep farmer, nor shearer of sheep, but I do believe you are super skilled. They come out looking so smooth and clean. Not patchy looking.

Such stunningly beautiful sheep breeds, especially the blue faces! Please tell Laine how very gorgeous, and also so tame. I could tell they are well loved. Thank goodness those rams were cooperative or it'd have been impossible to shear! Lol!!

I ran across your channel and have been hooked ever since. I know little about sheep. But have learned a lot watching and listening to your videos. I especially love that your daughter is a big part of day to day farming. I had to fight tooth and nail for my dad to allow me to farm. Especially in the fields. I didn’t realize how much I missed it until watching Chanel’s like yours. Thank you.

For a Ram, he was really laid back. Normally Rams fight back when being shorn. He was a big boy for sure. I'm sure I grunted a few times trying to help you move him 😂

A shearing champion says stubbornness and determination to prove critics wrong saw her crack a world record on Sunday.
In a scorching Wairarapa woolshed, Amy Silcock sheared 386 ewes - smashing the 2022 women's solo record held by British farmer Marie Prebble by 16 ewes.
After waking up on Monday feeling like she'd been “beaten up”, the 37-year-old said it was the physical and mental challenge that she most enjoyed.
“You've gotta go to the darkest places in your mind to be able to get through that," she said.
“When you're in so much pain and everything, and your body is saying stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
You have got to be the most versatile sheep man out there! So many skills and side jobs and you are good at everything! Great video! Would love to hear a little more about your great client's history and if she had any advice for someone just starting with sheep. She sounded like a national treasure!

That ram absolutely love being shared he just didn't want the other ones to know how good it felt so he had to play scared, but look at his face he just loves it..
I enjoyed watching you shear these guys. I loved the one at the beginning frolicking around while you were trying to concentrate on the one you were shearing. He must have been happy it wasn't him. I watch Sandi at Sheepishly me. She is the person who told me about your channel, so I subscribed to get to watch you proforma your magic of shearing the sheep so they are comfortable for summer.

I'm familiar with lots of weird, rare breeds, and I've never heard of those either. As soon as I saw that you were shearing a giant ram, I clicked so fast. Love shearing videos, but seeing sheep that challenge the shearer is definitely a treat! :D

He was actually very chilled-out when getting sheared. "Rub my tummy, rub my tummy - be my friend - and rub my tummy - and you can shear me no problem."
Hope you didn’t do your back a mischief! We used to ride one of my grandmas sheep that was that big, or maybe it was because I was so small! It was a Suffolk not what that one was!

He was big but calm enough, probably to do with him being a show sheep they are a little quieter and used to being handled.

Okay, I’ve been enjoying The Sheep Game for several weeks now ever since it popped up in my TH-cam recommendations-probably because I follow the Hoof GP and TEC-TV. I love all of Cammy’s vlogs, but this one, I have to say, is epic! It has nearly all the things I love about his videos, except for Lizzy and Jock.💞
This is Cammy at his best-funny, charming, handsome and brave-ready to take on this woolly beastie. And what a beastie he is! The fun begins with Cammy and Lainey hoisting this massive ram into place and Cammy going to work on him. That animal is totally passive-he’s dead weight in Cammy’s arms. But he’s also so gentle. He doesn’t fight to get away, or scratch or bite Cammy. I don’t know if all sheep are that gentle. But he just lies there, submitting to the inevitable. I swear at one point while Cammy’s trying to maneuver around him, it looks like they’re dancing. That’s when my husband heard me laughing from the other side of the house! I also love how, as big and floofy as this guy is (the ram, not Cammy!), his arms and legs look incongruously like little sticks.
Capping it all off is the little boy, I think Cammy’s nephew?, in the wig doing a spot-on Cammy impression. I predict this kid’s future is on the stage rather than the sheep pen! So that’s my in-depth analysis of this video. Oh, and the subtitles are a nice touch, and I know people have been asking for them. But I love the accent and am finding it easier to understand as I watch more episodes. It feels more authentic to hear Cammy speak the way people in that area naturally do. On some videos I believe he speaks some Scots or Scots Gaelic-I forget which one they speak in the Highlands. I’m learning Irish now, but Scots Gaelic will be next! Haha, they can be pretty chilled and maybe the show sheep even more so since they are handled a bit more, but if they want to show you who's boss they can soon throw their weight around.

@@TheSheepGame mostly mules nc or exmoor but their good on any I find any big boned ewe eg Suffolk they narrow the feet and shoulders make lambing easier
@@TheSheepGame keep most of my ewe lambs and cross back to a tex or char cracking killout always heavy and good grading
