Man your process is incredibly brilliant and you broke it down in a very understandable and easy to digest way. Really glad TH-cam recommended your channel

Love your concise video style. Thanks for sharing that process that is something I'm going to start experimenting with!

You're a genius my friend. love the videos. would love to see one on how you write different chord progressions for each section of a song. or how you layer guitars.

This is so sick! I’ve been doing this approach for a while. Works just as well with writing riffs. Been obsessed with writing in ultra locrian and going hard with modal harmony. I recently started go back to functional harmony to internalize all those weird and augmented 6th chords use them in a metal context.

Sounds really cool. Melodic and heavy. Well thought out stuff. It would be cool to hear Fast Arpeggios on the thicker strings, like in a rhythm context.

Possibly a dumb question but when you’re saying what you used for rhythm and harmony, did you essentially play the meshuggah track as your backing and then used the chords from the etude as the basis of the solo or did you actually transpose the meshuggah track in some way to relate to the etude as well?

This is the closest anyone has ever come to Justin Lowe level of writing. I think you should start working on music with Trent from After the burial
