This is one of those films where once I see 1 clip of it playing on TV I immediately feel the need to stop what Im doing & finish watching the whole thing. Such a great film
This was still my favorite theater experience ever. Saw the midnight showing on my birthday July 18th with all my close friends at that time. The theater joined my friends in singing Happy Birthday to me right before the movie started. Having that and then seeing this masterpiece of film. Wow!! That’s what you call a core memory
Nice, Happy Burfday. For me, we were all excited for the premier and we decided to play charades as we waited for the lights to go out. During the movie, you heard everyone gasp as the truck flipped and then loud applause when it crashed. I NEVER applauded a movie when the credits rolled but ga DAMN everyone stood up and cheered and hollered when it was over.
He was INCREDIBLE as Two Face. The ENTIRE cast is phenomenal yet to a certain extent, out of sentimentality, Ledger's performance raised such a high bar.
One fact that’s pretty significant… first feature film (non-documentary that is) that used IMAX cameras to film certain sequences. Nolan truly innovated cinema in that regard.
Heath ledger’s performance is one of the best I have ever seen in any film, he really made you feel like he was the Joker and he sacrificed his own health to pull it off. Rest in peace Heath.
Sacrificed his own health? According to Gary Oldman he was completely normal and happy in between takes. Heath was talking to Gary about being a new father. Heath enjoyed painkillers and sleep medication and paid the price for fucking around while waiting to get a full body massage. The Joker didn't kill Heath
@@THEADAMCLASSIC You’re just talking shit, did Gary Oldman live with Heath? Was he Heath Ledger’s doctor? The man was taking a ton of sleeping pills and other medications so look that up first.
@@samfields3086bro it ain't that serious bruh do some research he didn't drive himself insane to be the joker and it didn't impact his health to where he died
When I saw this movie for the first time I thought, yes this is the best superhero movie ever made, here in 2023 it remains a masterpiece of cinema, everything in this movie is cohesive, the interpretations, the script, the direction, anyway it was an honor to watch The Dark Knight.
@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 Friend, don't try to make me change my mind, because it's just an opinion and you don't have to agree, I don't even know why on your part to ask this question to a person who likes the movie, if for YOU it was forgotten that's fine, but for me and so many others don't, putting an end to your argument that NOBODY cares doesn't it, finally having a good time.
@@diegogame8322 what are you high in? Every sentence is saying something different. I just want to find other people that love and appreciate the movie like me as I think it’s still better than The Batman and Joker
The Dark Knight and Deadpool are proof that whether you go for realism or fantasy, PG-13 or hard R, what matters is the script. If it’s not there on the page, it doesn’t matter. Movies today are made with the ratings in mind. Nobody’s just writing a good script. They’re targeting a key demographic, whether it’s relevant to the characters or not. When Hollywood deviates from that formula, they actually do a decent job.
That film and Joker are the most darkest Batman films to date. PG-13 movies are getting closer to R rated. Even Joker is WAY violent especially the ending. DC comics ain’t too kid friendly anymore.
I will never forget I was going into the 8th grade when this was coming out seen it at mid night … when the joker showed his face for the first time in the bank my theater clapped every scene the joker was on screen I still remember it like it was yesterday… the dark knight will forever been my favorite movie of all time. Truly great film
That "Interrogation scene" is one of the best (Raw) Batman vs.Joker scenes ever. No, It's not action packed, and not particularly long even, but it shows how both of these (insanely genius) men think in their "battle of wits". Batman's complete and desperate breakdown of _"Where Is She!?!?"_ is their ultimate crescendo. Great Movie indeed.
5:30 it's Gotham City! 11:00 That's scary 18:19 how you like me now! 20:53 best Joker! 31:13 Bruce Wayne sleeps 34:47 Bale Batman voice 37:25 She's Dead 39:53 I don't want hear it Joker!
My pick, so far, is Batman Begins. It was laser focused on Bruce Wayne, when most Batman movies put the spotlight on the bad guys. You see BB, you come away with a deep understanding not of Batman, but of the man behind the mask. Of the person Bruce Wayne is, his reasonings and his capabilities. No other Batman flick, to date, has gone in that deep on this longstanding character.
I posted something similar. The dark knight is just when Nolan figured out what it took to make a block buster and set pieces. He has the perfect style for adapting video games in my opinion which is what modern comic book movies have basically become. But batman begins is better story wise. But it not as exciting and shiny looking.
But that’s also the problem because if you take out Heath Ledgers Joker The movie almost doesn’t have anything going for it which is why I say The Dark Knight is overrated and Batman Begins and Batman 89 are better Batman movies.
@@filmgoblin5016 Subtract X ( X being massive part of the movie, be it character or key plot point) and thus Y (Y being movie) becomes worse could be applied to any movie ever made? The Joker (and Heath's performance) is a huge character, and his story is literally much of the movie because that's how the movie was written. Take wings from a plane and it doesn't fly. Take MJ from the Bulls and they don't win championships, etc..
@@cinemapigeon4898I think he’s arguing anyone other than Heath Ledger. I guess he didn’t think the Joker overall was that great a character for some reason. I guess we can’t really attack for that…😂
It's the best superhero movie and my favorite movie of all time. What I love is how he captures the theme of escalation and the cost of being batman. This is the best joker, just an agent of chaos. You don't get logan, the joker, the batman and etc without the dark knight trilogy showing you how to modernize these comic book characters. This is his best movie. You also gotta give the movie credit for it subtle sense of humor. Not to mention every character serves a purpose. I love how the villians goal isn't about killing batman. The joker just want to cause chaos and he found batman to be a fun guy to go up against. Two- face wants revenge for Rachel's death and also represents how easy it is for a man to fall when he loses everything and blames himself
It wasn’t nominated for Best Picture but it made the Academy change its rules for 5 films to 10. It also made then open up to Comic book films Black Panther and Joker don’t get nominated if not for The Dark Knight.
This was easily my favorite moviegoing experience, ever. Midnight showing on release day. I've never been part of such an engaged but respectful audience. Cheered for all the appropriate parts, but every time Joker came on screen, you could hear a pin drop. What Heath Ledger did was mesmerizing.
100% Agree on Nolan & his Bat flicks... as far as Nolan's other projects, I've always loved The Prestige for its details and rewatchability; after you know all the story twists, it's fun to watch again to catch all the little things he does to make it work & the nuances of Bale's performance...
I love this movie and it's realistic take. It's more than just a great comicbook movie, it's a great movie. I always felt if you change the characters from their comicbook character names to something else, they will still be just great characters and movie.
If only Christian Bale maintained his Batman voice from Batman Begins, that would have helped. I hated how he spoke in this movie. Hearing it makes me feel like I have a sore throat
Bale hurt his voice in Batman Begins, so he had to change it and the tone had to be lower or else he wouldn't have been able to speak throughout the movie as Wayne.
Winter Solider was definitely a superhero film, but what made it work was that it was taken seriously. The people behind it actually read the source material, and adapted it to film like they gave a damn about it.
There's also a bit of SILENCE OF THE LAMBS vibe with Heath Ledger providing an air of creepiness, intelligence and danger. The Dark Knight was a superhero you took seriously and the Joker was a great match.
In fairness, Harvey’s burn scars in this movie were supposed to be much more realistic, but test audiences found them so nauseating that Nolan had the scars redone in CGI.
1998's Blade made all this possible. Because it made money, Marvel was able to do Xmen (2000), Spiderman (2001) Daredevil (2003) Ghostider(2004) Fantastic Four (2005) This lead to the birth of MCU in 2008. Before Blade, there was one Marvel movie that made it to movies theater, Howard the Duck (1984), and it bombed. Spawn, The Phantom , The Shadow, Steel, Dick Tracey, Spawn and Batman and Robin all bad comicbook movies killed Hollywood last to invest in these properties. Blade was the first Marvel movie to hit the theater in the 90s and it was a success. So Blade gets its props for MCU and DCEU to exist.

@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 I wouldn´t say that. There are still people who still remember and love The Dark Knight.Even the critics still praise this film. The Batman and Joker are terrific films but TDK is still one of the kind. Nowadays, the comic book genre is so full of jokes, bad CGI and fan service, which is causing a fatigue with too much stuff being made.
The whole trilogy is excellent and I am not even a big Batman fan. I grew up more of Superman and Spiderman fan. As I got older I got into Blade, Black Panther, Black Bolt, and Namor.
@@bigrule28 Dark Knight Rises was alright but that was such a letdown coming off of Dark Knight. Thought the plot really should have been different, Batman shouldn't have been in the cave for that long or maybe even at all. He should have returned to Gotham much sooner. I think too many people latch onto Heath Ledger as the Joker and his performance to say the movie is great for that reason. The movie is much more than just Heath, you have the worlds current best director behind the camera, the movie for what it was looked insanely good practically on a respectable budget and also it was written so well that there was nothing else to compare. Everything in the movie drives each other, the stories, the conflicts it all connects together so well.
I’ll never forget rushing after work to meet up with my friends to see this in IMAX. I was probably the one the first people in line for a 7:00pm showing and I remember the atmosphere that night from the lobby to the auditorium was electric. Nothing will compare to that experience. And yes, when Heath delivered that “Look at me!” line you could hear a pin drop. What a jaw dropping performance from start to finish
When the people let us into our seats about 11:30... EVERYONE was excited and waiting and we hyped ourselves up with a game of charades. I miss midnight premiers and THAT was one of my most memorable ones from getting into line to everyone standing and applauding tf out of the movie during credits to walking out in the parking lot and still had large groups of people talking about it for another 1-2 hours.
Will always appreciate nolan for taking my favorite character serious. When i watch a nolan film i just remember, “wow this dude who made this epic movie did a great batman trilogy “
When I saw this movie I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. And when it finished, I had to talk about it, and tell others about it. My favourite superhero movie, Batman movie.
15 years later, The Dark Knight, in my opinion, still stands as the greatest superhero movie of all time. Also, it would've been funny if Martin wore his Batman suit just like in the Spill review, so it can come full circle.
Batman Returns will always be my favorite Batman movie. It just depends on how you see the character-- there are so many versions of him it's like everyone grew up with their own Batman. And that's awesome. Even if I really hate the Synder films and the Nolan films aren't campy enough for my taste, it's awesome that those fans have a rendition that works for them.
Same. Returns is actually the darkest of the Batman films also the most mature(except for the penguin army) Michelle Phiffer Catwoman is the MVP of that film.
I love Batman so much that my brain can instantly flip from the campy version to the dark version. I love Burton and Nolan Batman. But I also have a damn good time watching Adam West Batman and the 2 animated movies that he did. Just like I jump between Batman The Brave and The Bold and Batman the animated series
One of the many remarkable things about this film is how lean it is. It moves from point A to point B with an efficiency that is rarely seen in a movie, which also contributes to keeping you on your toes. The only fat or slow down it has (and even this is arguable) is in the third act around the dilemma of the two boats the Joker puts into action.
You literally can not be a fan of films if you're not a fan of Inception, that thing is a masterpiece, objectively. THE most complex, yet incredibly easy to follow and understand. 0.1% of directors are capable of something like that.
One thing I will disagree on is saying we not at the point where we can’t notice visual effects David finchers movies are the literal opposite of this opinion, his movies are so filled with them but are integrated so amazingly well
Over the years since _The Dark Knight,_ we've seen a ton of superhero movies. A number of them have been great, some have even been amazing. But after a Spider-Verse, or Logan, or Avengers 1/3/4, or Winter Soldier, or Civil War, I often ask myself, "is _this_ the new best superhero movie?" Only to rewatch TDK and be like, "...nope, still goated."
If I had to list my most rewatchable movies EVER... 1) Aliens 2)Training Day 3)Dark Knight 4) Tombstone 5)first half of Full Metal Jacket!! Not even in that specific order😄!!

I've read that tge hostage video scene was largely improvised. Nolan provided tge setting and situation and gave Ledger a camcorder and just said "go." Truly amazing.
It’s the best because it is technically NOT a superhero film. It is a CRIME DRAMA. A MOB MOVIE. With superhero trappings. And it is filmed and acted as such. It’s masterful.
The dark knight is my kind of a Batman movie because it stays original from darkness, anarchy, the Joker, camera work, suspense and the thrills that never stops till Batman drove away. Warner Bros, this Batman film defines its franchise by Christopher Nolan. What a classic!
The brilliance of this film is that people who were casual Batan fans or have no idea what Batman is sourced from forget that this is a comic book property.
I remember back in 2007 when this Movie was announced & then it was also announced that HEATH LEDGER was playing THE JOKER & People were questioning this Decision,,,,And then Everybody saw the Movie & HEATH LEDGER Surprised The HELL outta Everybody with that Brilliant Iconic Performance 😃🤘🤘
Oh ppl were downright nasty when Heath was announced as the joker. Even made a petition to prevent it from happening. My friends and i saw brokeback mountain first (which was the reason Nolan picked him for the role). And we were baffled. THIS is the 'heartthrob' from knight's tale? From 10 things? the patriot? Heath disppeared in that role. His acting was fucking crazy. Some scenes, he expressed pain and grief in such quiet, subtle ways. And other scenes, he was angry and fighting someone. THAT was when we realized how intimidating he could actually be. (i actually didn't think it wasn't possible for him to be scary, but he proved me wrong). Hell, even the studios thought Heath wasn't macho enough for brokeback XD And i was actually curious to see what he'd be like as a villain after brokeback. So you can imagine MY HYPE when he was announced as the joker. Heath did incredible method acting for brokeback as well, extremely dedicated. He bascially came up with every little movement and detail of his character. Kept impressing the crew. So i wondered how he'd get in character for the joker. I had such high expectations...And was still shocked!!! Seeing him as the joker was a phenomenal experience

I like that in the end the Joker pretty much won. His goals were to bring down the best and brightest of Gotham and to get batman to break his one rule.
Isn't it strange how The Dark Knight didn't influence any future superhero movies? A ton of them copied Iron Man for building a universe, but The Dark Knight's insight into story and practical FX were left alone.
Didn't influence any future superhero films? ALOT of films, in general, tried to approach their tone as "Dark and Gritty" because of Batmam Begins and The Dark Knight. Even non superhero films took notes from those movies to be a lot more hyper realistic and Dark.
The main and BIG difference between J.Phoenix's Joker and Ledger's is, Ledger's is original, the other one is 100% Phoenix doing an impression of the guy who's got the actual laughing decease. I mean, 100% impression, look it up.
I often feel what I miss from certain superhero movies is that sense of vision from a director who knows exactly what he want to do with characters and or property. Too often if feels like superhero flicks try too hard to balance appeasing the comic fans who will tear the filmmakers apart if they forget to include x and deliver what regulars expect from a summer blockbuster. The Dark Knight is not just a comic book film, it's tense heist film, it is a drama, it is a character study of a psychopath and it does all of this NOT because Nolan set out to tick those specific genre boxes but it was the result of him wanting to do his cerebral take on a Batman film.
2008 was the year comicbook films transcended..both The Dark Knight and Iron Man changed the game. In another world I would have enjoyed seeing Nolan's vision of a DC universe..Christian Bale and Brandon Routh i feel would of had great chemistry as Batman/Superman.
Blade in 1998 saved the comicbook movie reputation after the embarrassing Batman and Robin (1997). Too many ignorant people thinking MCU started comicbook movie in 2098. Batman and Robin killed Batman movies until 2005's Batman Begins. Blade begot Xmen(2000) and Spiderman (2001). Ironman and Dark Knight (2008) gets its success from Blade. Blade paved the way for modern superhero movies to exist. Facts.
@@rickyclover9393 I've made that statement many times on different platforms..I'm saying that the Dark Knight took it up a notch and Iron Man was the start of a legit cinematic universe building. I'm well aware Blade saved the genre.
@@andremotivation6561 OK. I prefer The Batman is even better than Dark Knight. Once again, a Batman film were the villain gets more notoriety than the hero. Heath Ledger Joker gets more screen time and a bigger screen presence than Batman. But in The Batman, the focus is on The Batman being a detective, searching for clues, solving crimes. It puts emphasis on our hero, the name of the movie.

You’re review when you guys were spill was amazing. Same with the Dark Knight Returns. I wish you guys brought Co-host and Cyrus just to talk about this film.
That extraction method that was used in the Dark Knight with the Derigible and the airplane when Batman was in Hong Kong was an actual extraction method that the CIA and the U.S. Army's Delta Force used in the past. There's an episode in the television series The Unit where Snake Doctor (Sergeant Major Jonas Blane) was extracted this way.
I remember when the first TV commercial for the Dark knight came out, the minute the TV announcer said get tickets now. I knew it would be sold out if I didn't. I told my parents we need to reserve the tickets and boy was I right. The movie sold out all the theaters around my area: it was insane. It was a Phenomenon: Best theater experience ever:
The Batman 2022 slightly edges TDK for me personally. I never got an actual interpretation of how Batman to me, is supposed to be (detective, recluse, introvert, emotionally broken, dancing that fine line of killing someone but not, and very conflicted). Reminds me of a live-action Animated Series from the 90s. TDK was the ultimate Batman blockbuster film and its trilogy is by far the best superhero trilogy of all-time. I just think Reeve's Batman has a special opportunity to better that trilogy with the lore and world-building already established in Part 1. Both superior flicks, two wildly different interpretations, we're eating good regardless.
The Batman is a better "Batman" movie while TDK is a better "Film" in that it has better pacing, cinematography, staging, editing...etc. Take Batman out of it it's still a great crime drama.
@@GrayWoIf I consider them both amazing films, one is more pulp noir and slower burn and it should be it’s a mystery flick, TDK is blockbuster action flick with a lot of quick edits. To me it’s what’s your flavor for the day…and that cinematography should go to The Batman as the clear winner hands down. Greg Fraser had the best looking film that year and got absolutely robbed
24:00 That could have used a little more additional CGI to the bursting windows, because from the helicopter angle you can see that the building is hollowed out and nothing is inside. It always takes me out of the moment. One of the very little flaws in it.
It’s crazy to me that the Dark Knight was one of the first Spill reviews I ever watched on YT and been following these guys ever since. Time really flies
By the way, for you guys who really love The Dark Knight, check out the 1995 film Heat with Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro, which The Dark Knight copied nearly scene for scene.
Because The Dark Knight did not have to be a Batman movie. You can replace every single character with a non-Batman character and the story would still work. For example, replace Batman with Solid Snake, Joker with Liquid Snake, Commissioner Gordon with Roy Campbell, Two Face with Master Miller, and Rachel with Meryl Silverburg. The story would then work as a Metal Gear Solid movie. I actually wonder sometimes if Nolan originally intended this plot for a Metal Gear movie and watched that movie never take off so he used the plot for Batman instead, adding Joker to Two Face (instead of having the one character become one other character like Master Miller did when he was revealed to be Liquid Snake) to keep the Joker's mania consistent from the beginning.
I think The Prestige has moved to the top Nolan film spot for me. It's even better when you rewatch it and notice how the twist was staring you in the face the whole time. Plus Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman kill every scene they're in.
The Joker didn't kill Heath. I hate that people believe that nonsense. Everyone who worked on that set talked about how nice and happy he was in between filming the scenes. Heath had a bad habit of mixing opiods and sleep medication and fucked himself up while waiting for a full body massage. Gary Oldman and Chris Nolan talked about how cool and normal of a dude Heath was.
I fucking hate that rumour so much. Like omfg, can these ppl watch interviews? Or his documentary?? His dad went into detail about the night Heath died. How he got a chest cold from filimg dr. parnassus and one night, he was irritated he couldn't sleep. he had a meeting with spielberg the next day. he spoke to his sister Kate about this. And also, it kinds of bugs me that when Heath is brought up, they ONLY talk about the joker. Heath was DOPE AF in real life!!! He was so down to earth, was such an amazing friend. He carried a camera everywhere, he wanted to be a film director. He had strong feelings about discrimation. He protected Brokeback mountain like crazy (btw, TOP-TIER performance and was the reason Nolan picked him for the Joker). He didn't let his own friends joke about the movie. And he even turned down performing at the the oscars because of their immature brokeback mountain joke. I swear, Heath is the only celebrity i'll keep mourning after. WAY ahead of his time.
@@Noxofspades-lh7bj Have you seen him in "I'm Not There"? I would have loved to see what the next 10 years of his career would have looked like. He was just turning his career around like how Jake Gyllenhaal did and was taking on a lot more artistically challenging work.
@@THEADAMCLASSIC yep I've seen all of his movies. He was good in "I'm not there yet." And same. He was one of the youngest actor in academy history to be nominated for best actor (for brokeback). And I'm always amazed how young he was there and in dark Knight. Breath taking performances. And i REALLY wanted to see the films he would've directed. One project he wanted to direct is an adaption of Queen's gambit. Which makes sense since he was a great chess player. And speaking of Jake, i felt so sad for him when Heath died. They were close. Funny how they met and became friends when they auditioned for moulin rouge and didn't get the part 😂 And i get emotional thinking about how Heath made him the godfather of his kid. And how Jake gets a little emotional whenever he about brokeback mountain because of Heath.
For me, ‘The Batman’ is the Batman movie I’ve been dreaming for, for 25 years since watching the cartoons as a kid. A movie where he actually does solid detective work and we see him discover things step by step until he’s able to catch the killer.
I hated that movie🤷🏽♂️. I really don’t get the hype at all. I thought Gotham was portrayed very well but Batman himself sucked and the villains didn’t do it for me either.
I do think The Prestige (2006) is underrated. Blew my mind the first time I saw it. It does play around a lot with flashbacks and stuff, so you have to pay close attention.
I love his Batman movies, but other than those: I've rewatched the Prestige the most. Made me think about science, because everytime I hear someone say 'one day you'll just step into a teleporter' or those 'beam me up scotty'-tech I say 'the hell I ain't getting into those things'.
Even though its not my favorite Batman this is my all time favorite theater experience. I had been moving from U.S. to Panama at the time and wasn't watching movies so I didn't even know this was coming out didn't see a single trailer. I remember my mom telling me the joker had died and my mom is a Facebook boomer so I just brushed it off as some dumb facebook news I know for a fact Jack Nicolson was alive and well. I was walking in mall past the movies and saw poster for this literally coming out that week and poster was just batman on motorcycle so thats all the info I had. Went in completely cold and was blown away. Imagine walking into this movie not knowing anything. Nothing will ever compare to that night.
19:11 I don't completely agree with that Korey. Cause I remember watching Avengers Endgame thinking the Quantum Realm suit (minus the helmets) were real only to learn after that fact that the were purely CGI. Even the cowl Chris Evans was wearing as 2012 Cap while fighting 2023 Cap was CGI
Before I even push "Play" I have to comment that not only is this included in my Top 5 films of all time, but, I absolutely remember when that trailer started in the theathers. You can feel the electricity from a packed house. Went home and must've seen the trailer on TH-cam countless times. I was a kid again.
This is arguably the best dc superhero movie ever made before marvel started going crazy this was my fav superhero movie I remember vividly going to the midnight premiere to see this I think they stopped doing those because of the mass shootings and it’s crazy how replayable this movie I can turn it on right now and it will still hit the same
I feel like there could be a Part 2 to this. Hans Zimmer scores induces chills. The Joker theme with an incessant rising note that doesn't break, Batman's theme is iconic, etc. I can go on and on.
I’ve always wondered if those detonators that the people had on the two boats at the end were secretly rigged to their own bombs instead of to each other’s like the Joker said, like he wanted to trick each group into blowing themselves up. This movie really messes with your head in an interesting way.
It is a great crime movie The Dark Knight, and Batman happens to be in it. For me, Batman Begins is the Best "batman " movie. A excellent origin tale, and touch more comic book feel to it.
It's an ensemble cast with Joker at the center. One of the decade's most important if not best films, ok sure but only Begins & Rises made me feel like Batman is a cool character since '89. The Bruce Wayne plot is a snore here - he's almost totally reactionary! If I want to watch Heat, I'll watch Heat!!!
When I hear someone say they never seen this movie before, I get excited because I get to see it for the first time all over again thru someone else lol
Not only did this film convey that Batman can exist, but that a maniac like the Joker cam exist! Damn...mat have to watch this again on Blue Ray...I've lost count by the way.
I really like Christopher Nolan's films. The Dark Knight, of course, is fantastic. Inception is a masterpiece, too. It's really a film about overcoming grief. Most people wonder why the film cuts off at the end but here's the thing, it doesn't matter. By the end of the film, he's overcome his grief and is finally ready to move on with his life. The man we meet at the start of the film is so filled with grief, he couldn't even think straight. At the end, he's free. Who cares about the spinning top. It's true, Tenet is a puzzle, but it has a lot of the elements you like in the Dark Knight. The heist, the spy thriller, the action hero, hero's journey, everything. Even the villain, he's a philosophical villain. When he's talking about the protagonist as being a heretic and a fanatic. It's the same BS we're dealing with today, with the proliferation of global skepticism. Sator no longer believes in anything. He's truly a dying man who has lost faith in everything and he stands directly opposed to the protagonist who chooses to believe in something. If you could go back and do it all over again, what would you do? Would you do it to save a mother and her child? As always, in Nolan's films, there's also class warfare in tenet. There's also a lot of humor in the film. Watch it again and it gets better every time.
I've watched all Batman movies as a Batman fan since a kid, and the only moment I felt I was watching a serious portrait of Batman's universe and characters was through Nolan's trilogy. The way the drama was portraited, so realistic, as well as the character's motivations and humanity and/or lack of there of. You could sense the weight and hardship that Batman faces when he cant save everyone nor protect everything altogether and how this affects Bruce. You can sense fear and uncertainty driven by every action and word from the Joker. You get to understand how the corrupt reality of Gotham forces Harvey to pass from a integral moral driven politician to a criminal. From the cinematography, to the script, up to the score...altogether a masterpiece.

No, but Harvey Dent does.
Eh I think he’s pretty bland

Agreed!
Plus how he learned martial arts and his training was so dope
I posted something similar. The dark knight is just when Nolan figured out what it took to make a block buster and set pieces. He has the perfect style for adapting video games in my opinion which is what modern comic book movies have basically become. But batman begins is better story wise. But it not as exciting and shiny looking.

It might be an easy take but Heath Ledger as the Joker quite simply makes this my favorite Batman movie
But that’s also the problem because if you take out Heath Ledgers Joker The movie almost doesn’t have anything going for it which is why I say The Dark Knight is overrated and Batman Begins and Batman 89 are better Batman movies.

Because it made money, Marvel was able to do Xmen (2000), Spiderman (2001) Daredevil (2003) Ghostider(2004) Fantastic Four (2005) This lead to the birth of MCU in 2008.

I was top person on WTF when heard Ledger was Joker.. Then I was first to be shocked how great he was
Oh ppl were downright nasty when Heath was announced as the joker.
Hell, even the studios thought Heath wasn't macho enough for brokeback XD
And i was actually curious to see what he'd be like as a villain after brokeback.

Iron Man copied Batman Begins so...

The Batman 2022 slightly edges TDK for me personally. I never got an actual interpretation of how Batman to me, is supposed to be (detective, recluse, introvert, emotionally broken, dancing that fine line of killing someone but not, and very conflicted).
2008's The Dark Knight Was American Film Critic Jay Sherman's Second Best Film Of 2008 On His Best Of 2008 List.
For me, ‘The Batman’ is the Batman movie I’ve been dreaming for, for 25 years since watching the cartoons as a kid. A movie where he actually does solid detective work and we see him discover things step by step until he’s able to catch the killer.
He's a horrible detective in The Batman. He's just guessing and regularly getting called out on by villains or bailed out by Alfred.
Correct
I hated that movie🤷🏽♂️. I really don’t get the hype at all. I thought Gotham was portrayed very well but Batman himself sucked and the villains didn’t do it for me either.
the writing is so bad though
This is a joke right?
I do think The Prestige (2006) is underrated. Blew my mind the first time I saw it. It does play around a lot with flashbacks and stuff, so you have to pay close attention.
I love his Batman movies, but other than those: I've rewatched the Prestige the most. Made me think about science, because everytime I hear someone say 'one day you'll just step into a teleporter' or those 'beam me up scotty'-tech I say 'the hell I ain't getting into those things'.
This film NOT gettin a Best Picture nod changed the voting for Best Picture to expand to 10 noms....Slumdog Millionaire won in 2008
Even though its not my favorite Batman this is my all time favorite theater experience.
AARON ECKHART also did a phenomenal job as HARVEY DENT & his descent into becoming TWO-FACE
I’ve always wondered if those detonators that the people had on the two boats at the end were secretly rigged to their own bombs instead of to each other’s like the Joker said, like he wanted to trick each group into blowing themselves up. This movie really messes with your head in an interesting way.
37:33 “oh this is it. He saves Rachel, Harvey is left for dead and comes back as two face. So this how they’ll… wait… Harvey?……. No way….”
The only people who claim this is the best Batman film are the people who’s only exposure to Batman is Nolan’s films
Surprisingly, in the realm of summer movies and sequels, The Dark Knight came closest to emulating the grandeur of Terminator 2.
46:06 - 46:10
And that's exactly what happened with Hey Arnold! The 2002 Movie, yes I'm getting off topic, but it's something that bother movie goers who are trying to get invested with the most in terms of Story.
*The Dark Knight still Kicks AZZ*
The Dark Knight is so good, I actually believed Gotham was real
Even nowadays they're trying to make these big blockbuster movies out of the superhero movies but they're not making a good story tarnishing with these graphic novels and these books why The fans love them when I first read The dark Knight
