Some solid arguments here. I also agree that people moving to a big city and not really contributing or trying to understand/enrich the culture, is pretty sad. Also, what makes places special can be lost when you're just selling everything to whoever and letting people build whatever they want. I'm not a fan of big chains coming in, as they cheapen the cool places they are in and make them less unique, and have less character. It's a huge problem worldwide and am ashamed that pretty much all of these chains are American :(
