I used to live in upstate New York, and it seems to be about the same parallel climate wise. I noticed there's not as much snow in winter as there used to be. The snow would be on the ground, and deeper from at least December to mid March or so. Bare ground in February was unheard of back in the 70's.Snowmobiling was an all winter thing back then.
Hi David! Great observation with the lack of snow. Last winter was a very odd year and we received much less snow than normal. I believe on a normal year snowfall amounts are probably pretty similar to upstate New York. Hope you enjoyed the video and thank you for taking to time to comment 😊
Thank you so much Parsnip! Tomahawk is beautiful and I'm so thankful to be able to reside here. I really appreciate you checking out the video and taking the time to comment. 😊
Looks like you had some eyeshine watching deer in the scene with first pair of deer, directly behind them in the trees/brush. Deer on right even turns to look at it. Very cool!
That's not too far away. They are definitely around. I hear a lot of sightings north of highway 8 by Nokomis and also east of highway 51. I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment!
My dad grew up in Tomahawk in the 1930's to 50's..He shot a lot of deer growing up there..He trapped wolves and a black bear back then too.. He moved to Montana after living in Alaska..He was quite the outdoorsman.. I still have a lot of relatives in that area today..Hello Rod and Sambo!
Hello HairyDogsTail! Sounds like your father had many experiences in nature and definitely sounds like quite the outdoorsman. I would have loved to see Tomahawk in the 1930's 40's and 50's. Thank you for watching and taking the time to share. ❤️
Man spent 10 years enjoying Tomahawk wilderness. Stayed on somo lake and would hunt and hike off zenith tower rd and Wilson school rd many great experiences and some I’ve tried to forget that’s pretty big country back then
Hey MotoMatt, I like your channel name! I'm a big fan of mororcycles myself. That's some nice area around Somo Lake, Glad you were able to enjoy the northwoods of Tomahawk back in the day. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the arm chair video, I love nature so much, and to see what goes on in the forest especially at night, what a life for these beautiful creatures, they are constantly on the move. Got a kick out of the porkies, the little owl, rickie raccoon, all of them!! Especially the wolves 😮. They are gorgeous. We're those coyotes or wolves crossing the lake at night? The woods are alive and beautiful at any time of the day, thank you for putting these out there and sharing, appreciate in it!! 🌲🪶🪵
Sure is a good winter for the wildlife. The doe with the bad left front leg is doing much better now but another one has a bad rear leg. Is the highway causing a problem? Looking good for the coming spring though. Thank you for sharing your video.
Hi Ken! That's for sure, the wildlife had it easy this winter. I'm not sure if it's the highway causing all the injuries but I'd say it's a good possibility. As always thanks for watching Ken! 😊
So cool to see the wolf!! 🐺 I'm surprised he ventured into an area with so many coyotes. It will be interesting to see if he sticks around. (I am assuming it's a young male, looking for territory to claim.)
It was pretty neat, it's the first wolf I've captured in the past 3.5 years I've had this property. It's mating season so I think it was just passing through looking for a mate or like you said territory to claim.
i have not but up to Tomahawk for several decades. I enjoyed it when I was there. Interesting . Need to catch up on some of your other Pod Cast videos . Sorry behind, renovating.. Possibly going to sell. Largest low income house in USA is in the start to be built for over 600 unites. And as long as I have lived, if tenants do not follow Rules and Regulations in 10-15 years the Towns nearby, go under and so does the surrounding homes. TAXES climb, and the citizens who have homes do not get even !/2 of what, the town/city is expected. Crime goes up and up. stores fold due to less people shopping, but the theft and vandalism continues. ALL across USA when certain people feel they do not need to pay, or do their share, towns die
Hi Tusk! Come visit beautiful Tomahawk again when you have some free time and maybe stay 😉 I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.
A licking branch is a branch that deer use to communicate scent. Bucks use licking branches to mark their territory, establish pecking orders, and see what other deer are in the area. Think of it almost as a deer calling card. All the licking branches on my property are natural licking branches but there are artificial licking branches as well. Most common artificial I see are people using certain types of rope. Licking branches are usually located above a deer scrape.
Excellent! I'm very surprised the doe with the bad left-front is still around. Would have thought the coyotes would have taken her by now. Interesting porcupine interactions. I'll admit I don't understand them.
Hi Tom! Yeah that old girl with the bad left leg has been around for a few years now and she's tough. I don't understand the porcupine interactions either 🤷♂️ I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
In Virginia the authorities call that animal, 70-90 pounds a Coyote or a CoyWolf An Eastern Gray Wolf is what it really is, but we know what the word WOLF can incite
That's interesting, I have definitely heard references to the coywolf. However, around here everyone is pretty good about determining either coyote or wolf. However, they are often not in agreement on whether its a coyote or a wolf 😆. Thanks for watching James!
Is that a new porcupine, or one of the two that were already there? I can't really tell them apart on camera, not sure if you can. I don't think it's the right time for them to be wandering too far from home, though, so I suspect it's not a new one. Maybe just a little spat? He forgot to stop at the store on his way home? I tried looking online for info on porcupine counseling but didn't find anything. 😂 Ok, now 5:00 minutes in, is that a third one there, or the same one coming around the corner?
LOL this post is too funny! I believe it is the same two porcupines the entire time but I really have no idea! If it wasn't stopping at the store it, he may have forgot to take out the garbage. I looked inside that den and it's filthy!
Hey Randy, Thank you! Trail camera's can get kind of addicting. Do you see any wolves down by you? If you start posting let me know. Thanks for watching!
Great video the capture of the two porcupines is outstanding
Thank you Woodsman! ❤️

About 1:00 in: that's the deer with the hurt leg. It's good to see her interacting with another deer! 😊
Yeah she found some friends 😊
I think they kind of take care of each other. I’ve seen it here on the streets of Eagle River, when one is hurt and the others stick close by.
Nice video! It’s cool to see the bobcat walking on the ice and the huge owl too! Thanks for sharing
Thank you WTUK! Glad you enjoyed the bobcat and owl. 😊
Great compilation of trail camera clips! Thank you.
Thank you Jim! I really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment!

Great video, lots of excellent action in this episode. That’s one long legged bobcat. Enjoyed watching thanks for sharing! 👍
Hello TCINE! That bobcat does have some long legs! I really appreciate you watching! ❤️

Our wolf pack has no issues with the Coyotes we have. I have wolves and Coyotes all the time. Sometimes within an hour of each other.
Voyageurs has a new vid up.
It's really interesting!
Thank you for letting me know Mary, I'm going to check it out!
That was a neat video. It was interesting so see all the different animals scent marking the same area.

Could you please explain what the licking branch is? Did you put something on it, or is it just tasty?

@@715trailcams Thank you for the info. 😊
What township are you in? Love the fishers!
I'm in the township of Bradley. The fishers are always a joy to watch 😊
@715trailcams you are close to us. I'm in Little Rice. I think she got her butt kicked by my dominant one-eyed female
Yep we are very close!

Awesome video as usual. Can’t wait for the next one. Thank you.
Thank you, I really appreciate that Bill!
3:37 Is that a bare patch on the porcupine's back?
Yes something must have went after it and recieved some quills! I haven't spotted any animals that were the recipient though!
13:35 Is that a newly hurt deer? 🥺
Yes unfortunately it is! 😔
In Virginia the authorities call that animal, 70-90 pounds a Coyote or a CoyWolf
