    Holy shit Korg has David fucking Wise.

    David Wise will be remembered for eternity. And to be honest i still think he is the greatest composer of all time. Directly followed by Akira Yamaoka, and Michiru Yamane. Making quality music for a game is something many can do. But to create something that is still important up to this day (28 years later!) that is something only a few would be able to do. The man is a legend who revolutionized music in games. He created music that could have potentially alienate an entire community. Nobody has the confidence to think outside of the box nowadays, which is why people like him can't be praised enough for what they have done to gaming.

    Thank you for your amazing work throughout your years with Rare. Your music made a huge impact on my life, not just my childhood. Still love the donkey Kong games and the soundtracks are a huge part of why I still go back to them.

    This could not have been more tailor made for me. The DKC trilogy soundtracks are my top favorites, and one of the selling points of a Wavestate for me was learning that its predecessor was uses for some of my favorite soundtracks.
    I've also been enjoying your video game inspired patch breakdowns. But having one by David Wise himself?! From a game I love on a synth I actually own? I'm over the moon here! Thank you, Korg and David. I hope you do more collaborations.

    Could you please share on which OS/version you are working with the Wavestate. I am not able to connect the editor or the librarian on Windows 11, Wavestate is upgraded to version 2.

    • @David3Wise
      @David3Wise 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Mark. You should be able to download the software from Korg and update to the latest version. I think this is a free update. But, it's quite complicated, so follow the steps very carefully.

    • @David3Wise
      @David3Wise ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rios5315 Hey Rios
      Great to hear you’re enjoying the Korg Wavestate.
      It’s a great synth.
      This week I bought myself the Korg moDWave.
      Not only because it has my initials on it in capitals.
      But this is also an amazing synth too.
      I also have the VST’s of both.
      The great thing about hardware synths is that they still make a noise in a live situation.
      Even if your Laptop is incapacitated whilst having an operating system update forced upon it.
      As for the time it takes for low resolution radio signals travelling at the speed of light on a specified trajectory - Fortunately: The Korg OpSix synth utilizes FM radio signals within our range of hearing.

    • @rios5315
      @rios5315 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@David3Wise haha funny you mention those two synths too... I have been tossing up between getting the Modwave or the Opsix as my next purchase. I like the idea of FM synthesis but also wavetable would be great to play with too. Maybe eventually I will have all three haha but for now I am focusing on my wavestate... I am blown away by how much more I learn about this thing everytime I power it up. how do you think it compares to the original wavestation?
      I actually have owned KORGs Wavestation VST for about 7 years now but nothing beats hardware synthesizers, even their VST counterparts. Being able to change parameters with a physical interface is unmatched. Sliding knobs and editing values with software - especially software that uses virtual 'knobs' - is too tedious.
      by the way, I recently did a presentation at Uni on the DKC OST and how you took inspiration from the Wavestation to put together the soundtrack. That was an amazing effort you put into those songs and I think I speak on behalf of a lot of people when I say thank you for them because they form some of my most strongest childhood memories and also one of my earliest loves for music & also the reason why myself and a lot of other people go back and play those games.

    • @David3Wise
      @David3Wise ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a VST for Wavestate, ( + Opsix and Modwave ) - I have both vst & hardware. Here - I'm using the hardware editor - but it is now possible to create in the VST and transfer over to the hardware.
