  • Today we picked up the Ryobi P4360 "Pole Saw", an 8-inch chainsaw on a 9.5-foot pole (adjustable to 6.5 foot by removing the extender pole). We did a typical "unboxing", but rather than simply bench test the product, we trimmed up three problem trees in my yard as well as a neighbor's yard.

    All in all, for an 18-volt tool (same batteries as my Drills, Screw Guns, and other Ryobi tools), I was very impressed by the overall performance of this tool. See the entire video to really get a feel for how well this thing works, especially for the price.
    To purchase the 8-inch BTL "Bare Tool" (no battery or charger), use the following Amazon link:

    I try to do honest tool reviews here, and I don't just "bench test" tools, I use them as they would be used in the real world. So far I've mostly done Ryobi tools - this is not a sponsorship (though one would be welcome!) - I simply have been using Ryobi tools for many years, and continue to add to my 18-volt kit. This is just the latest (stay tuned, I also picked up the Rotary tool on the same Home Depot trip... unbox and review for that tool coming very soon!)

    Thanks for watching. If anyone from Ryobi is watching, I'm dying to give the 40-volt line a try... a freebie won't earn you a guaranteed positive review, but an honest review with real-world usage, much like this video.
    My only complaint for this product in particular, is that, in my opinion, it should state ON THE BOX or at LEAST within the first couple of pages of the manual, that you need to purchase some Bar & Chain oil before you can use the tool. Even a sticker on the tool, like what you might find on a mower or generator, warning you not to use until you fill it with oil, would be nice for those who simply toss the manual aside and start firing up tools (which I don't recommend of course but we all know it happens)...
    I realize this is simple common sense for anyone familiar with chain saws in general, but I can see homeowners purchasing this product, having never used any other type of chain saw before, and they may be unfamiliar with the bar oil requirements... again, just an opinion there. Otherwise, it's my new favorite Ryobi tool!
    Any questions or comments are welcome below! Again thanks for watching, see you soon!

    ALWAYS MAKE A SMALL UNDER CUT FIRST, TO KEEP THE LIMB FROM SWING OR RIPPING THE BARK OFF THE TREE.

    The play by play is the best part of this video.
    On a side note. Good call on lube oil. We bought ours and noticed the no oil after watching your video.

    Not real happy this this product. I used it to cut palm tree limbs and it jams easily when in contact with the stringy hair-like portions of the palm branch and tree. It seems to work fine on other trees...but, if you plan on using it to trim palm trees it is not a very good product for that.

      I live in the Midwest, never had to deal with Palm Trees :) I think the majority of the US wouldn't run into that issue, though perhaps some other tree types may be more difficult than others? Anyone care to chime in?

    Does the saw works better with the 4 amp battery instead of the small 1.3 amp that itt comes with.???

    • @Maximo10101
      @Maximo10101 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Higher amp would increase the duration of use (how long the battery charge lasts while using)

      The 1.3 and 1.5 AH batteries work just fine, but t he 4 gives you more runtime before having to swap the battery out... it's more a convenience thing, all of the batteries should provide enough power in any instant to get the job done. I've never had it cut out on me with smaller batteries because of overload
