- Let us brighten up your winter nights, in the start of this new series we take you back n time to last summer, these were the hikes we were doing and these were the lovely TH-camrs we were thinking of…
Our first dedication is to ,having met them twice their sheer hiking knowledge and dedication to getting out and completing hiking milestones and tasks is second to absolute nobody. @atrampinthehills.841
Our next dedication is to the lovely LB, @WomanOutdoors whose life time commitment to a healthy keto lifestyle is one we share with her. We have shared and chatted many recipes with her, hopefully we will all continue on this healthy journey together!
Our third dedication is to Leon from @waterfallmadman , my oh my this guy goes the extra mile to find spectacular waterfalls across the length of the glorious Pacific North West, hope you and Journey approve of the Yorkshire waterfall we found for you on this video.
And finally our utmost love and admiration goes to the amazing Dave and Kathy from @TravelingTramps , whose without their inspiration we would probably have kept this video private for a very long time. Always love your hiking videos, it was how I first discovered your channel when I was looking for vlogs on the Cleveland Way. You always show the lovely scenery and amazing landscapes we have in Yorkshire, but also highlight the trickier bits (boggy land, flies, ticks!) which I also appreciate. It looks like a lovely walk. I think we're going to get out in the Moors tomorrow and do some walking, your video has inspired me to get off my bum and out and about in the countryside again. I have just bought new walking trousers so there really is no excuse lol. Love the classic Nick and Jill moments with the twirling on the bridge, the "moor, moor, moor - how do you like it how do you like it" 🤣and of course gate of the week. Thank you for taking us out and about on your hikes. We had a really rubbish summer for it didn't we, with all the rain then all the ticks? Hoping we get some good walking weather over the coming months. Fingers crossed for crisp, cold but dry weather!
Hi Emily always love your comments but this one we have had to 📌 We have had this video along with quite a few more sat there plus great ones that need an edit! We lost ourselves a little trying new things but have so enjoyed seeing our usual selves enjoying our hikes, it has too enthused us to get out as we are about to spring into action put on our boots and get our hike on, we really need the exercise! I believe we were once animals that hibernate as that’s all we want to do this time of year 😂 we are going to fight it! Plus we too have new trousers 👖 so you are right, no excuses! I don't even know what to say....I just smiled and smiled from ear to ear the whole time...you two are a joy! I loved the scenery, the goats and the cows and the frog and the waterfalls but Nick and Jill...you two are the best...how can I forget all those gates...Oh my! Never forget the gates...loved your flyswatters and hats at the ending! All your dancing and singing...made my day a joyous one! Thanks for the scenery, but most of all your sincerity ~ seems TH-cam isn't allowing me emoji's at the moment....so big hugs from Hollywood to the two of you!

One good thing about the rain, it makes for a spectacular waterfall and so nice to see the sun again, I sure have missed it. If you are going to strip, that is the place to do it, glorious scenery and apart from one very curious sheep, nobody else around. Given it was the school holidays, the sun was out and yet (Frederick apart) not a soul about, how absolutely wonderful! How on earth you both got over that running stream without getting wet is a miracle and taking of which, what a perfect picnic spot - delicious indeed. I remember quite a while ago watching one of your first Falling Floss videos and saying "I must go and visit that", all this time later I am still saying it 🤔 and what a glorious sight it is - the waterfall not the hats 🤣, cheers Alan
thank you Alan 🙏 Maybeck is a great starting spot for many a hike, this was at the most popular time (the summer school holidays), you can still walk for miles and miles without seeing a soul. Around the waterfall will be a few families enjoying the sights but walk an extra mile and you will have the place to yourself. the tea rooms at Falling Foss (seasonal) are incredible, they have an outdoor viewing platform over the falls and do scones, bacon butties and sarnies. there is a car park actually at Falling Foss too so it is accessible for all ages, well worth a venture. I made a right mountain of that tiny stream crossing, seeing me petrified up a branch holding on for dear life and then thinking about me climbing ropes at over 8000 foot just two months later fills me with laughter and dread in equal measure. can the guy who can bearly cross that stream be allowed up a mountain? surely not! 😂😂

fly, fly Nick! it is great to be out. had a wonderful idea for a series we wanted to film today and I just thought “Nah” let’s get out and have fun in nature so we did that. might impact me £4 on youtube down the line.. I wont lose sleep!

Couldn’t wait for 8.00pm to come round so had to cheat somewhat and sneaked this film before it was released. So nice to be back in the summertime along with the customary tick checks. Yes I also would have chosen the bridleway route. Jilly crossing the stream reminded me of Lara Croft. Low carb rolls, bloody awful, like eating cardboard! Yes the Falling Foss was lovely to see. Thank goodness the Gate Of The Week was back. Brilliant film Nick & Jill its just what we need to brighten up the long cold dark winter. FIVE STAR FILM ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
thank you so much Mike 🙏 your right about some of those Carb free rolls, they are like eating cardboard, these ones were a little “chewie” over regular rolls but quite pleasant! sadly neither of us got away tick free and there was a clip where I was swearing like a docker at the flies, especially the one that refused to leave the lens when I was filming numerous retakes of the waterfall! thankfully i saw sense and left it on the cutting room floor. Flies, ticks, floods, JBPs and snakes.. what’s not to love about hiking in the British summertime? I’m not the biggest fan tbh but oh my goodness looking at the colourful footage now in the bleak of winter is very up lifting. I do so enjoy the Autumn colours and then the bleak monotone of the long winter season with the silhouetted trees, it just doesn’t film quite as evocatively! gate of the week will be making many an appearance this year as we get a better balance on what is important. thank you so much for your kind words and we hope to see you on the Saturday big screen again soon ♥️

Hi Nick and Jill we enjoyed your hike looks like you had a lot of fun. So nice to see the bee 🐝 and foxgloves . What a lovely area to walk amongst the beautiful Heather. The water across the path was unbelievable reminded us how wet it was. Frederick was a star 🐸. Dave likes to sing along on his hikes 🚶♂️ too. The little chapel was cute great spot for a picnic. The sound of the beck was wonderful gave a real sense of being out in the wilds. The waterfall was superb makes you want to get out and take a hike. Thank you both so much for taking us along. Yes! what's not to love about this video, interesting to see the North York Moors - such gorgeous landscape surrounding. Hehe, Jills little tease, brilliant. A pretty relaxed hike on this circular, some obstacles in the way of course with the river cross, but you guys smashed it. A cute little picnic stop. Okay not so relaxed till you got to the hermitage toll house, that incline looked steep, but always seems effortless for our Genxers! Liked the toll house and seeing the dates etched on it. Stunning waterfall, love to listen to that water crash. Some amazing shoutout's to those who are so supportive but also are fab creators. Well done Nick and Jill. Fantastic video! xx

Hi Jill & Nick, I really enjoyed joining you (virtually!) on your lovely hike through the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors. I purchased some Keto rolls for the first time this week, and like yours, mine were really delicious. We are both cutting down on the carbs and doing Dry January. So far so good... 🤞Loved seeing Jill stomping through the water - and how wonderful to see the return of 'Gate of the Week!' Great stuff, as always. Have a brilliant weekend ❤🎉
oh well done Julie and Lucy on the dry January and cutting down on carbs. we always struggle with the dry January (cough, cough) but we can assure you we have put in our best moves yet in that direction. as for hidden sugars and carbs? they are the devils work. Even if you’re not focused on keto anything that cuts down or lowers drastically carbs and sugars is the way to go! here in the UK we are a good ten to twenty years behind the USA on this being popular so the options are not quite as readily available yet. we are bringing the “balance” back to the channel this year, expect lots more silliness, gates, twirls and swoops to return to the channel! keep up the amazing work and we look forward to seeing all of your incredible videos this year. ♥️🇺🇸

Hi Nick and Jill, loved this fun hike around the Yorkshire moors. The lunch break was a lovely place to stop, the cobs looked yummy. Jill made us laugh in the water and Nick made it across climbing onto a stone , what a beautiful waterfall and loved the hats and fly swats very funny. Those wide open views were indeed amazing. That does sound like quite a tick area. We get ticks sometimes too, hate them. Nice stream crossing and the chapel was awesome. Great place for a meal too. When you see all those vast acres of open moorland, it's easy to forget how overpopulated Britain is!
have to admit when I first moved to Yorkshire I was defiantly proud of the 800 square miles of “National park”, cough, cough, mostly moorland. nowadays? id prefer they built an international airport on it so I could travel and get abroad faster! it takes me a day each way to leave the UK! shakes fist! 😂😂

The moorland was amazing to see, but ick, I can't stand ticks! Very fun seeing the water crossings, even if they were unexpected. The countryside is so beautiful and so was that small chapel. Very nice it was open for visitors. The toll house was really neat to see - I find it amusing how young Canada is compared with other countries around the world - hardly any of our buildings date back that far!
I know it’s crazy right! we really hope to get to Canada at the end of the year for our 10 year wedding anniversary need to start looking what offers we can get! we fancy Banff National Park but need to research where as believe it’s a big place 😂 thanks Donna hope you are having a great week 👍❤️

😖😖 🐜 Hope not Andy! North York moors area is quite rife if in over grown areas and you are wearing shorts we advise you tick check they are hard to see as so tiny but they feed off you for days and grow bigger! you have to be careful not to itch/scratch them off as them biting and sucking your blood can make you itch! you have to pull them out with tweezers the way they go in horrible they are! sorry that’s probably you and me both having nightmares tonight 😂 have a great weekend (too cold for ticks now 😂)👍

yes I’ve watched this back today and I thought to myself for an 1870 toll house it’s not the most impressive building? we have places in Scarborough that have been in intact and n the same shape for over a thousand years and even homed King Richard. what is so impressive about a caved out rock that was used to extort money for passage? hmm

thank you Dave and Sue, we do love hiking in the winter but when trying to film the monochromatic beauty of the landscape I just find it too hard to do it justice. we like to sneakily film a lot of reserve in the summer and then unleash them during the winter months! lovely tribute from Dave and Kathy, excited to see your travels in the van! ♥️

Yes we really have had a lot of rain haven’t we 😅 nice to see a bit of sun again lately. The moors are always so nice to explore 😊 you both bring so much energy to your videos always an enjoyable watch. Bread rolls looked very nice. Liked the waterfall and the bridge twirls 😊
Thank you so much Yasmin 🙏 Yes that was the wettest summer I can ever remember. A quick google suggests that we are getting four times as much rain now on average than we did just thirty years ago. A shocking statistic for sure! Definitely very tasty bread rolls albeit on the pricey side. Hopefully supermarkets will start selling them and that will bring the price down a bit! Wow, a tollhouse...good that the toll keeper (aka Troll) looked to be out and about! lol Really is a decent waterfall for sure!! LOL...love the fly distractors! You always find such beautiful places to go on hiking adventures. Miles and miles of open land for sure. Oh no tick inspection - glad it was a freckle lol!! The moorlands are lovely - we have this type of landscape in our backyard area haha. The boundary stone is so good - 1784 WOW! Wow no carbs or sugar in the bread, I didn't know you could buy that! The sandwiches look good and a perfect spot at the picnic table :) What a beautiful waterfall! Fantastic adventure as always :)

Think at 3.11 you maybe referring to us doing a tick check that are nasty little insects 🐜 common in uk that latch on to you and suck your blood but they can cause serious illnesses like limes disease 🦠 if you don’t remove them quickly 😖 We will leave you with that cheery thought 🤣 have a great weekend guys 👍

Fun walk out and some great shout outs. I thought it couldn't have been recent with the stripping off and in the tshirt. Some very sketchy water crossing. I thought Nick was having a pee at one point but alas was finding a better way onto a stone to cross. Fab hermit friendly walk with an awesome waterfall to boot👍

Happy New Year Alistair! yes this is a series we filmed last July to brighten up these winter months. I do so love hiking at this time of the year but the NYM are notoriously difficult to present. grey skies, brown moors and silhouetted lifeless trees! mind you no ticks! hopefully going to give the 12 a run for its money in the coming days, we’ve just got our first smattering of snow. That was a really lovely hike, so many contrasting view with the wide expanses of the moors to the woodlands area (always pretty in summer with leaves on the trees!). Ah yes summer fly season, welcome to my life in Australia!! Have not really tried the corked hat solutions, we tend to douse ourselves in insect repellent!
