Meteora 🇬🇷 Greece Sacred Mountains

The Meteora is a rock formation in central Greece hosting one of the largest and most precipitously built complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries, second in importance only to Mount Athos. The six monasteries are built on immense natural pillars and hill-like rounded boulders that dominate the local area. It is located near the town of Kalambaka at the northwestern edge of the Plain of Thessaly near the Pineios river and Pindus Mountains.

Priests had to use baskets raised upon the mountain tops to avoid slaughter from muslim ottomans. Only way to access the top of these monasteries was by large baskets used as elevators.

A good documentary with equally good narration but what a pity as the irritatingly disruptive loud background music spoiled the whole thing. Is it possible for whoever uploaded this to re-upload it with the same music but much2 lower volume which is soothing to the ears, yet not disrupting the listeners' concentration and enjoyment of the whole presentation?

Do you know the words "meteor" and "meteorite"? They have the same root.
Meteor-a is the plural in Greek, because it is many together and means: those that suspend in the air.
