- From mountain ranges with snow dusted peaks and the clear blue sea, the beautiful country of Greece boasts 13,000 km of shoreline. Today we look at the region of Epirus, starting in the wilderness near the Albanian border, we go through little mountain villages to the historically significant town of Ioannina and then then all the way down to the Ambracian Gulf. Learn about the lives of locals in the area, from shepherds, herb collectors, tavern owners, and the caretaker of a cliffside monastery.

I appreciate my comment is a little odd but I am confident that some of you will find the following amusing, oe even insightful? Look @36:42, we see a close up of a dove ( looks more like a pigeon in my opinion) feeding in the grass. The bird can be seen to stand in the same spot while spinning around a couple of times - the funny thing about this is that I've observed the same thing being acted out by certain dogs and their toilet routines. Some dogs sniff out an ideal spot for a No.2, hunker down to relieve themselves but won't actually begin until spinning around a couple of times. Like the bird, the dog faces outward as they spin and this to me suggests that they are 'aligning' their internal compass and sensing for a specific direction. Why this behaviour is employed here rather than for say navigation is one question, dogs and birds sharing a peculiar behaviour, is another!

Part of Greek Epirus was given by the Allies to Albania, splitting families. Although Greece+ was on the side of the Allies. For Shame! Never forgotten by Epirotes+who lost people in the Greek Civil War> 250K victims! The battles in Epirus were fierce!
Interesting document but do they always treat their animals so poorly. I am Greek but do not support the treatment of those poor mules. Throughout Greece it’s the same with Dogs and cats and probably more we don’t see
