Cliff Burton wrote the intro to For Whom the Bell Tolls when he was as 16. He played it at a talent show in High school. Everyone though he was a joke. Whoops I guess they miss judged pure genius .

Rob really does a great tribute to Cliff when he plays this song. You can hear lots of stuff from live performances that cliff would do in his playing here. Rob does a great job at adding his personal flare to this song while still paying tribute to the OG. I love Rob in Metallica I think he's fits super well.
He fits perfectly because he can play everything on bass, he is a fan of the band and most importantly, he knows that he is basically session player in biggest band in the world and his ego is perfectly fine with that. Dont bite the hand that feeds. On the other hand, I think that his presence made them to show some balls and that is one of the biggest reasons why they made great album Death Magnetic and their live performances are better and better every tour. 2000s Metallica was cringe especially James singing but since HWTSD tour they are technically at their peak. Maybe not fastest but certainly they are tighter than ever and James sounds great. Jason was much needed collateral damage.

He has made the rest of the guys step up, but in turn, he has helped write so many of their best songs since he joined. Hes also done backup vocals on tracks like Dream No More. What happened with Jason opened their eyes and as a result Rob is treated like a fully participating member of the band
They were phenomenal in Munich. As they were throughout the European Stadium Tour. Seemed like they played a lot during "resting period". Maybe did some Studio Work ?

I wasn't there but I imagine this is because they reduced the volume of the crowd before uploading. I've seen quite a few metallica concerts online and the crowd wasn't so weak. It's probably because they reduced the volume while mastering so that there's emphasis on the song

Interesting seeing James playing the intro live and playing it better and having it sound better than the actual studio album version. Was such a good live sound from everyone as well Kirk and Lars were sounding really good as well, Rob solid as well.

I've been a Metallica fan for over 20 years now, and I've seen them live 8 times, last time this summer. That was probably the tightest I've ever seen. But even still, Rammstein is better. So, so, SO much better. Given a choice between a Rammstein concert and a Metallica concert, I'll choose Rammstein ten out of ten times.

From a technical stand point I truly love how well you can hear Robs awesome bass playing in this. It really is the reason the piece has a true creepy vibe to it.

Here a punk boy from chile ive gotten onto underground punk shows (tocatas as we call them here) and these motherf*uckers were pogoing non stop during almost 3 hours, i am the drummer so that was a never forget experience thag will stay with me for years
