@@unfaithfulmisery5203 Not sure if you'll get this as you appear to have deleted your reply to my original post. Firstly, I'm not American. Secondly, my comment was a light-hearted jest and the exclamation mark would have given this away in my country, but perhaps not in yours, a regrettable cultural misunderstanding. Sorry. (Interesting, thx. Another title you could call yourself is "Unmitigated Misery"!)
Dick did a guest artist thing with my college big band, a year or two before I got there. Tough luck for me....sure would've been great to work with him!
Actually, Roland, the arrangements were written by the two soloists Garry Dial & Dick Oatts. The unheard" part of the concert title may be that the tunes never made it to Ellington's repertoire.
When Shannon Barnett plays a solo I simply must stop whatever else I'm doing and pay attention. Outstanding!
Hi Aaron, I will tell her your compliment. Thank you!
I bet you're an Aussie as I am and yes she's pretty amazing! - In fact the whole band are awesome!
Wie großartig! Danke, dass ihr das hier zugänglich macht!
Beautiful Garry Dial.
Garry Dial - genius....
Best concert in many years! Thx!
Did you see part two as well, John?

So nice to hear from somebody who is really interested in our work! Thanx, Santiago.
Just A Gentle Word [29:35] seems rare to me as I've never heard Ellington perform a Latin American rhythm.

spektakulär!
Thank you, crmcninch!
Great though the playing is, the arrangements underline what great arrangers Ellington and Strayhorn were.
Actually, Roland, the arrangements were written by the two soloists Garry Dial & Dick Oatts. The unheard" part of the concert title may be that the tunes never made it to Ellington's repertoire.
Burning!!!!
