Not douchey at all! I think I speak for the majority when saying I'm amazed by what you can do with a firearm. I'll take as many of these type of instructionals as I can get!
Yep; his skills are top-tier. Having been around and shot with competitors, there are niches and some people are better at this or that, but as far as general proficiency goes, there's not much left beyond what's seen here.
I’ve never seen a dude shoot like him… to look away from a target at the camera and hit the target still is pretty sweet in my opinion… most people have trouble hitting one at 25m looking at it let alone looking away from it. Love the modesty but I’d say you’re a professional. 🤣🤣
Curry is a douchebag, how can that be up for debate? My comment was for laughs, not for clogging up the comment section. I've never met Curry, don't want to. I've met Nick, and he's not a douchebag.
In the archery world we call it instinctive shooting. It’s basically the same thing. You look at what you want to hit and rely on muscle memory and technique to hit the target. It’s hard to explain exactly how it works but the more you do it the more instinctive it gets and you can get really good at it. I’ve been doing instinctive shooting with recurve bows for years and it helped transfer doing the same thing over to firearms. It’s easier to do using a rifle but I’m getting better at point shooting with a pistol. I haven’t been practicing this technique too much because everyone in the firearm industry thinks it’s stupid. I’m glad to see people like PewView knows what’s up!
@AR-vd3pb with the recurve I shoot using fingers so I know the practice well. Along with compounds I do not use a peep either, just the same anchor point every time...
@marksilverman3693 did you ever shoot at something with your finger as a kid? Same theory. Shooting from retention is point shooting. I could get into detail, but I'd be writing an essay on the matter. Get some good training, and you'll learn point shooting.
Dry firing is seriously the best way to practice. Especially if you wanna work on trigger pulls, it helps to have a gun with a shit trigger so you can almost magnify the mistakes you make. It was night and day differences just from practicing INBETWEEN my range days.
Thank You for the talk. Thank you for the inspiration to TRAIN more. USN, 30 and out. . . Above average time on different weapons, a neophyte - love each watch.
Great video regarding point shooting, DryFire training and Red Dots. For years I’ve been integrating Point Shooting with lasers at multiple targets in my home gym and induce “fight or flight” syndrome. When your hands and legs start shaking and heart beat is racing you realize the efficacy of point shooting for realistic combat scenarios. Been shooting handguns since I was 5-years old and coming up on 68 yoa. I’ve just learned some new tools in my tool box with this video…. And BTW ….. fantastic shooting🤠
SOOOOOO did anyone else literally laugh out loud when he said “I’m not a professional “?…if your not pro then we should all stick to sling shots & pointy sticks 😅
You got me into guns again, kinda got put off by all of the terminology and drilling but your videos are easy to understand and get the points of training across. Great content
Good instruction. Thanks. I’m kinda old and set in my ways, but just ordered a dot for my Buckmark (I’m going to learn economically before progressing)I feel I’m a decent point shooter, so, encouraged once I get this thing going. Oh, and I still love the truck set up. 😊 Best
Point shooting at 15 yards. You make it sound like that's an easy thing to do. That being said you hit everything spot on cause I definitely learned something new.
It's easier than you think to point shoot at 15Y . Go shoot 5 to 10 USPSA Matches . That's the quickest and easiest way to learn how to point shoot . To be clear when point shooting all that means to me is you are shooting at sub concious level . When you can achieve that you'll see how to easy it is to point shoot . Hopefully you live in an area where you have multiple Ranges / Clubs that offer USPSA Matches . Setup an Account that's free on Practiscore so you can see what matches are near you . About 4 years ago I was one of those people making comments like this . Then I started shooting 2Gun , Super Steel , Steel Challenge and USPSA Matches . IMO it's the quickest and cheapest way to get good if you can self diagnose your problems . YT Gun Training University is a real thing .
Used to run a range, was taught point shooting by a 60 year old combat vet. To me it is a invaluable skill, and it doesn't take as much practice as you think. That being said, to point shoot like Nick you're gonna need a lot of time and practice.
Omg someone finally said what I have been thinking for yrs. Ty My philosophy has been I don’t need Irons bc the red dot is not lined up with irons and they just get in the way. I rely on my dot and that’s why I have no issues spending money on good ones like SRO. I change my batteries every yr on my birthday. And should my dot stop working, I revert to point shooting. I’m not nearly as accurate but my hits are on the paper.
Great video I’m 65 now been shooting sense I was knee high to my daddy! You hit it right on! I’m making the transition from irons to red dot right now thank you for the info 🤪
Thank you for explaining point shooting, fuds in my comment section like to say bad things about point shooting like all we do is just point shoot were don't know where the shot will land, and you and I proved a point 🫡 Keep it up Nick, I have to go check on one of my national guard units in Ames IA, so ill be hitting you up to get some range time in.
Thank you I just got an FN545 and have been fighting keeping with iron sights or red dot. I haven’t even fired it yet 😂 I’ve never owned a red dot. I primarily point shoot but after watching your skills and perfection I am amazed. I was thinking why you even need a sight at all 😂 I am definitely going to practice your advice and thank you again, Tony
You touched on it well enough, but I really feel you might have been able to explain a bit better as to how point shooting is an essential/fundamental tactic when it comes to being comfortable with your firearm. Everybody - IMO - should be capable of handling their firearm in a manner that feels comfortable and natural enough to hit their target from a close to mid-range distance without having to consciously focus on too many core fundamentals with regards to optics/"proper shooting" in general. i.e. a self-defense situation. Like you said, there are plenty of moments where you may not have time to fish for, or even aim down your sights/optics. I just personally feel it should be a more essential part to a lotta folks basic training, especially when getting new toys you're not fully comfortable with/used to yet. Needless to say, to each their own and all comes down to personal use and what the freedom-seed-dispenser is intended on being used for.
One really good tip I learned not too long ago for point shooting. Once you work on a better grip and manage to obtain a consistent grip, you can use your thumbs to mind of point at what your target is, that is the best reference point that we uave when point shooting. Since most shooters maintain kind of a flexible arms/elbows position when shooting in order to mitigate recoil or absorb recoil with your arms instead of locking up. Due to this angle, your arms can’t really be used as a reference point to have better target acquisition. Therefore, to make these practices better I strongly recommend people to pretend draging and getting a grip with no gun and use the thumbs to point at the target to have a better understanding of this concept then put it in practice woth the dry firing. Thought it could help some people like it helped me
THAT was a useful video. Wingshooters shoot both eyes open (as you do shooting flying targets with your pistol). The transition to red dot acquisition makes sense.
I practiced at first with my dominate eye closed. Then I would only squint, always looking at the target not the dot. I did the same with my shotgun. If I shoulder the gun right and stay focused on the target I can shoot it without closing an eye. Practice and trusting how you present the gun is how I started.
I put a post it note chest high on a door around 5 yards away and worked on finding the dot off my draw. Worked on it daily and within no time i was finding the dot consistently
Sage dynamics is the only other channel I’ve seen talk about point shooting he had a really good example with a Glock with the sights removed to prove it works
THANK YOU!!!!!You have taught me so much. People think you’re just a good shooter. Mind you you are people don’t understand the practice it takes it’s a lot and they don’t practice enough ME INCLUDED. keep being you my brother from another mother
I think one of misstanke everyone do is think is that you need to focus on the open sight. I never did that when i compete in IpSC - I just wanted to see a blury red point from my front fiber sight between even more blurry rear sight. My target was the less blurry thing and what I target on even with the open sight dynamic shooting. Exception offcourse when you have a six inch plate 25-40 meters away or similar tricky shooting
I saw your short on the diamondback DBX 57… Any chances you could do a full episode on that… I find that platform to be very interesting, but I’m on the fence as to whether or not I should buy one
To help stay target focused and make sure both eyes are open, put a piece of painters tape over the front part of the glass on the red dot, like he did with the card at 4:52. This way the tape will stay on there and you can draw from the holster and/or use both hands and such. I thought this could be a useful tip.
When using irons the best way to see your sights with both eyes open focus the front post. You'll see your target and sights without it all becoming blurry
Make your dry firing really count by putting a laser snap cap in and picking a spot to hit. I use Mantis, laser academy and Blackbeard. All have been great and saved me tons of ammo.
I agree with you about point shooting man when I was teaching my friend how to shoot a couple of year back as soon as I told him to just point and shoot he shot way better.
That was awsome coming from you the king of shooting I'll take everything even the dry fireing while sitting on the shitter lol to heart No all kidding aside thank you for all the advice you are the man Thanks
@PewView0.3 hey It's chris from aquachris1136 I did mean it when I said you are an incredible marksman and your videos not only amaze me but also challenge me to be a better marksman/ shooter thank you
6:36 no irons! I’ve always questioned the necessity of co-witnessed irons and am just now experimenting with red-dots, I’m not going to lose sleep over co-witnessed irons! Also, I’ve always shot both eyes open even with irons. I used to be only front sight focused but have caught myself being target focused on numerous occasions. I’m hoping the change to red-dot goes well.
Not douchey at all! I think I speak for the majority when saying I'm amazed by what you can do with a firearm. I'll take as many of these type of instructionals as I can get!
The information he gives freely is what most people pay for. I too, am grateful!!! More please 🙏🏼
"I am not a professional." after displaying greater mastery than 99.9% of professionals.
Yep; his skills are top-tier. Having been around and shot with competitors, there are niches and some people are better at this or that, but as far as general proficiency goes, there's not much left beyond what's seen here.

This a treat for those who watched the entire video from start to finish. 😁
Lol he is an elite competition shooter by the way
It's an edited video tho.
This guys the Steph Curry of gun shooting.
No he's not...
Nick's not a douchebag.
@@johnb9045Do you know him? Him or Steph? Goofy.
Facts
Curry is a douchebag, how can that be up for debate?
My comment was for laughs, not for clogging up the comment section.
I've never met Curry, don't want to.
I've met Nick, and he's not a douchebag.
Thanks for addressing point shooting!!! I don't think many people understand how well this helps in any situation when needed.
Read Brian Enos book the use point shooting and even shooting with eyes closed up to 25 meters with draw if I remember it right.

“Ian not a professional” 😂
yaaah good one :)
I seriously appreciate any and every tip you have, your last video on how to control recoil seriously helped me!
Good to hear man! Glad I could help

Videos are the Truth. Your knowledge and accuracy result of hours of self analysis. Thank you

GREAT video, simple, direct really appreciate your shooting skills! Thank you!
THAT was a useful video. Wingshooters shoot both eyes open (as you do shooting flying targets with your pistol). The transition to red dot acquisition makes sense.
Let me guess, thousands of hours and thousands of reps. Love your content.
I don't doubt for a second that he's got ungodly skill, but I AM really curious how many tries it takes to get some of these shots.
Very informative, thank you!
Don't know if I've stumbled across you before or not, but man what a great video. Definitely subbed now. Love your no-nonsense style!
Thanks for the advice. It helped!
Fantastic video! You summed up everything in this. Hard to tell people what you just said!
Thanks for the tips!
I will follow every word. NO ONE sgoots this good. Keep it 💯
Excellent advice. I put a piece of masking tape over my optic and it helped me learn to acquire both the red dot and target immediately.
Great advise! I’m left eye dominant and shoot right handed. With practice I now see the red dot from my right eye while keeping both eyes open
Ok. Not sure what I can add.
How? And why u see red dot on ur non-dominant eye? Should we see THROUGH the red dot onto the target with our dominant eye instead??
I practiced at first with my dominate eye closed. Then I would only squint, always looking at the target not the dot. I did the same with my shotgun. Awesome video. Thanks for the info and the laughs! 😂
My favorite utuber. Thank you again
Great Video Tutorial! thanks for being humble enough to share your skills! the world need more people like you!
Great video !!!! Cheers from Montreal, Canada !!!!
Love your videos! Definitely the best shooting TH-camr hands down! Keep up the great content my dude
And if you think his hits are done in a single take, you're fooling yourself.
Thanks for the tips
Love these vids, thank you
Excellent tips
Great shooting by the way 👍💪
I put a post it note chest high on a door around 5 yards away and worked on finding the dot off my draw. Worked on it daily and within no time i was finding the dot consistently
Thank YOU!
Thanks for the tips dude, that sure helped!
Excellent content, thank you
Thanks for the great content as usual
Sage dynamics is the only other channel I’ve seen talk about point shooting he had a really good example with a Glock with the sights removed to prove it works
You’re a great shot man! Thanks for the video!
I gotta say with the skills, the knowledge, and the humbleness makes this guy's video that much more enjoyable... to me anyways. Dudes sick!
Great information!
The Steph Curry of guns 💪🏻
DAAAM! Okay Mr.Wick you got me to sub. Nice point shooting, it's harder than what you just did. Hopefully people practice enough.
You are way more professional than most bubba! Keep up the great work and i love your content!
One of your best videos!
great video!
THANK YOU!!!!!You have taught me so much. People think you’re just a good shooter. Mind you you are people don’t understand the practice it takes it’s a lot and they don’t practice enough ME INCLUDED. keep being you my brother from another mother
What a humble fella "not an expert" lmao. Thanks for the video, awesome tips. Keep the excellent content coming!
When you say “I’m not a professional” 😅 beg the differ
When I shoot with a red dot with both eyes open the dot seems blurry so I tend to close my left eye which makes the dot more clear and easier to find.
Thank You sir 👍🇺🇸
Extraordinary skills!
Was not douchy, great video, thanks for sharing your exceptional skills
Great video dude. Proud new red dot owner
Great vid, can you make a video on how you zero your red dots and what zero you like best?
I think one of misstanke everyone do is think is that you need to focus on the open sight. Point shooting works with iron sights or a red dot, yes? Love the video.
That occluded shooting works well with the rubber scope covers that come with red dots for rifles. Great way to traun.
Question, who does the farming for you? Another great video with useful content.
Your Muscle Memory is on the next level. Congrats. You have officially earned it 👏🏼. Well deserved.
We all need more videos like these❤
Point shooting should not actually be done in a self defense situation but it does have transferable skills
I saw your short on the diamondback DBX 57… Any chances you could do a full episode on that… I find that platform to be very interesting, but I’m on the fence as to whether or not I should buy one

Bro you are spot on with everything and you have absolutely no issues proving it. Very impressive and phenomenal information
Starting point with your thumb instead of your pointer finger. That helps a lot with quick target acquirement
I went back in my feed to find this video to leave this comment. Thank you. Keep making these.
That's really great info.
Would be fun to see him shoot more single action revolvers, like a Ruger Vaquero etc…
Your a beast!
Man i really like the way u trying teach us alongside showing off you badass
I have never heard anyone speak about point shoot. I am impressed to say the least.
This is perfect, I just got my first pistol red dot a week ago.
That was awsome coming from you the king of shooting I'll take everything even the dry fireing while sitting on the shitter lol to heart No all kidding aside thank you for all the advice you are the man Thanks
@PewView0.3 hey It's chris from aquachris1136 I did mean it when I said you are an incredible marksman and your videos not only amaze me but also challenge me to be a better marksman/ shooter thank you
thank you Master!
Your truck build is amazing is that a raptor?
This dude is a Gah damn Jedi with a firearm. Seriously man, good for you.
Most underrated Guntuber++
6:52 I made it with a straight face through all those, and then I absolutely lost it at the last one.
