    only problem I have is that is still aiming. when you say don't aim with a red dot is kinda odd. You just aim differently by using a projected visual que instead of a metric on the gun itself. look at the target to aim not the gun.

  • @mikeytee6821
    @mikeytee6821 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    What he doesn't say or explain enough about is rapid target acquisition. AND that to PROPERLY use a red dot sight you keep BOTH eyes open and focus on the TARGET, not the 'sights'. With practice the sight's 'red dot' will appear as an actual red dot laser sight ON the target with the optic's frame itself almost disappearing. If done correctly, it is a bit of an optical illusion. Also a properly zeroed and used red dot requires NO sight alignment or (like an actual scope) proper sight picture. It is effective and leaves your field of view wide open. Basically, never treat a red dot optic the same way you would a 'scope' or iron sights...never with one eye, and never with the sights as your main field of vision.

      You nailed it, 7 minutes of complex wording to say exactly what you just said, and I don't think he really said it :). Thank You! - of course assuming the red dot is zeroed properly.

  • @EtherGamerNetwork
    @EtherGamerNetwork 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Why wouldn’t you just coalesce with your front iron sight and put the red dot right above your iron side? Is that wrong?

    • @mikeytee6821
      @mikeytee6821 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Target acquisition! Red dot optics when properly zeroed and used do NOT need to be aligned or 'co witnessed'. You put the red dot on target (regardless of where it appears in the optic) and BAM.

    Granted, the language could have been a little less esoteric and stilted, but after viewing this video for the third time, as a newbie to Red Dots, I came away with an epiphany when it came to shooting with my Red Dot Sight. Buck's presentation is less of a "how to manual" and more of (and I hate to use these words) a philosophical "school of taught" approach to shooting with a Red Dot Sight. I would suggest everyone viewing Buck's video at least twice.

  • @spqrvidi
    @spqrvidi ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The first we're going to talk about today is threat focus. So typically speaking with iron sights, you establish a naming solution.
    In other words, you point the gun in the direction of the target.
    You find your front sight, you drive it into the context of the rear sight and you negotiate with it.
    With the red dot sight you don't do that you maintain threat focus.
    I stopped watching at this point

    aren't there two red dots because we have two eyes?
    my dominant eye gives blurrier image than my other eye...
    * I'm right handed and my right eye focuses on objects, but my left eye sees better.

      I DO have astigmatism, but, how is this relevant?
      AFAIK, all people (with two eyes) that focus on a far target will see nearer objects twice - we cannot focus on all distances at the same time!

    • @malikjohnson33
      @malikjohnson33 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@OrenLikes not to sure honestly I would say look into it and do your research I just know it’s very common with people who have astigmatism’s
      But that’s just my guess due to the fact one eye is blurrier then the other

    • @ozziodefazio8350
      @ozziodefazio8350 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You don’t see two dots because you’re only looking thru the sight with your dominant eye, the other eye is on the target where your focus should be.
      You don’t even need to see the target thru the sight, you only need to see the dot. Your brain will superimpose the image of dot seen from your dominant eye, and the image of the target seen from your other eye, into one single image.

    Buck, you keep saying the same thing over and over. And the way you are wording things can throw off an inexperience shooter. To sum up what you were trying to say is this. Practice with your red dot and get it down to muscle memory, so that you don’t have to go looking for the red dot all the time. It’s that simple! All that talk about your biology made me think I was in a science class . 😢

    In all fairness, this man _is_ a salesman, after all. If you want a message to stick, you repeat it over and over - and over. As it drags on, the pseudo-scientific sounding jargon starts to give off a condescending vibe. Almost as though he's tailoring his message to an audience he views as gun totin' hicks who see themselves as special forces _operators_ - or not.
