Wow!Not bad for 1987.Love how the person recording is showing all the flaws on the track.Missing pieces parts and stuff.Lord knows how old the track is.And nobody is just standing around wow! What a mess and all that older equipment.Great recording of yesteryear and how things used to be done.Fast forward to East palistine and we’ll leave at that…Thanks for posting.
As a teenager in the 1980s modelling HO scale, I purchased an Athearn 200T crane and then realized how dumb it looked having that model of such a relic on my layout. I was modeling current time best I could and thought no one actually still used such a thing.
Never seen a plain bearing truck with derailment damage like that. The axle lodged under the airslide chute seems to be missing the ends, which suggests in order for the axle to be taken away from the truck was the bearings were sheared off in the journal boxes. That's a LOT of force at play. I bet it happened over the switches, cause for rails to kink like that it would have to be VIOLENT. Awesome seeing those old 150 ton cranes cleaning derailments up instead of tractors.
Who’s the person with the camera? I probably know them lol looks like Reesie MacIntyre’s house or Grandma spears house that you recorded that girl at? That’s right across the street from the old fuse plant blew up in 1978
Even without a vest you should know not to stand underneath a busted up truck being lifted my a crane. It already had slipped once prompting the first guy to step back.
That always happens to me, you try to put the truck on the rails and only two wheels get on the rails. You pick it up and then the other two go on but not the first two. That’s why I gave up on N Scale.

Very nice film. Oldies but goodies. I was probably at Tiffin tower at this time
This makes me miss mechanical crossing bells

well at least that airslide hopper got some updated trucks

Also, that Derrick is a 250 ton. 6 axles is the dead giveaway.
They're waiting for the heavy lift gear to arrive.

The thumbnail makes it look like the person is signaling victory after blowing the freight car off the rails with a fart.
'87 They didn't have cell phones for the most part, and I don't know how they can work without orange safety vests. 😎

Unfortunately derailments happen

That’s why you gotta hang onto that little blue doohickey that lines up the wheels for ya. Simples 😉
@@jswaggart01 They must have misplaced theirs also. Probably thought it was part of the packaging.
Been there, done that. You should try re-railing Z gauge! 6:30
@@bazza945 I would not want to try. My initial comment was sarcasm.
So was that one reagan's fault by todays logic? 🤣
