Did you use normal soil to plant the seeds?This is very satisfying to watch, now that I have a big garden I will try growing some berries. How do you keep the insects from eating the plants? Do they need shadow or lots of sun? How often should I water them? I really want to try this!
Hi there, I always use either vermiculite or special seedling soil as any normal potting soil will make it very hard for most seeds to germinate. I also like to soak them in a bowl of water the night before I will put them in the seeding pot or tray. With strawberries don't sow to deep. I actually recommend to fill the pot with soil, thorougly wet it and sow some seeds on it. Then lightly press the seeds on the soil with the outside of your hand. Then you can put a very tiny amount of soil or vermiculite on top, but i've read people get good results by not adding anything on top at all as well. Be careful with watering. Best use a misting spray. When the plants have developed at least two true leaves. (So have a total of 4 leaves) transplant them to a potting soil for fruit& vegetables or make your own. Don't water your plants to often. When the soil turns lightbrown is when i usually water mine. They don't like wet feet. There will always be insects trying to get a bite of your lovely strawberries as well. You can try to keep them at bay with a mixture made of green soap, bit of sunflower oil and water (find recipes through google...) for aphids and alike and you can keep birds away by putting some netting over your berries. There's also the option of insectfoils and they theoretically could also keep these at bay. Good luck to you. I hope you'll enjoy growing strawberries and this is helpful.

My strawberries r not.producing fruits, they r not even flowering,, just giving off suckers which i snip off. Idk if its the soil or the whether (its rainy season).
As long as you give them no more than 4 hours of shade and give them plenty of water they may have small fruits. But they still need alot of water to have sweet fruit.
