I've tried to bring family and friends into the Latin mass. They can't stand it. They abhore the fact that they don't understand the language. For me, I feel like I'm being lifted into heaven.

I had this discussion with a lot of people and it gets annoying and sad. People are doing as if they were to dumb to remember some responses in Latin and looking up some small two-sentence prayers in a book. Even more so you don't have to understand every said word. The TLM is also visually self explanatory. Sometimes i'm in a hurry and was to lazy to look up the texts but i don't care. I am still an understanding observer of the biggest mystery.

To read the prayers along with the priest is most enriching . On Sundays, the priest reads the epistle and gospel in English and delivers his homily in English. The Latin Mass is quite a unifier as it’s the same all over the world and is focused on giving praise, glory and honor to God, not a fellowship as that can follow after Mass when you join others for coffee.

Being told to love something rather than learning why you should love something. Whats the difference. One last a week the other a lifetime. Teach the why and let them love, they need and deserve the experience of falling in love. Hope this helps.

I've heard many 'older' Catholics, mostly in their 80's, say they don't like the Latin Mass. These are people who grew up with it, took it for granted and never realized the beauty of it. Just like being married to the same person for 50 years and having nothing to say to each other.
It takes converts and reverts to truly appreciate the beauty and the awesome and powerful magnificence of the pure and unadulterated true Mass.
Like so many other things in life, when you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone.

Deo Gratias for these two courageous men speaking the truth about the Traditional Catholic Mass and faith.
The SSPX priests in New Zealand are missionaries dedicated to bringing the sacraments to the faithful.
In Nelson, South Island of N.Z. a priest travels here once a month to offer the sacraments of penance and Holy Mass to the faithful….despite the fact we do not have a church and no support from Novus Ordo Catholics.

The Catholic Church who has Apostolic Succession, a Priesthood with vestments AND Altars to celebrate it. I am 76 years old and I remember very well. In a few years Saturday Mass was a habit, so you could drink Sat. Night and be hung over Sunday. It was shameful.
Still, I was full Novus Ordo - including running the lay ector program in my 40s.
It took attending a wedding at a Greek Orthodox Church of all places to spark a reminder of everything that was missing in my worship.

I love the reverence at the Latin Mass. What really disappoints me is that the Novus Ordo is meant to be reverent also. Beauty, silence, bells, kneeling to receive Holy Communion on the tongue, could and should be in the Novus Ordo. Instead, there is clapping for singers as if at a concert, talking before Mass and not silence to reflect and prepare for the miracle about to happen. The Novus Ordo can also be, and should be, reverent. It is not what it should and can be.

I definitely don't expect any positive change while Pope Francis is still around, given he seems more keen on getting away from the Latin mass, even though Pope Benedict allowed it; however, I truly hope a great man willing to listen to lay people, and he isn't completely out of touch and blind to the obvious diminishing numbers of people going to church, and that Novus Ordo isn't far off from a care facility given all the geriatrics. I only have Novus Ordo nearby so that's what I attend, but it's so obvious that TLM is far more spiritual feeling. Even if we can never bring back TLM fully again, I'd certainly like Novus Ordo to bring back a lot of the beauty of the TLM that absolutely didn't need to go away. Bring back communion rails, only receiving the Eucharist by a priest and only on the tongue. Bring back incense, and have the tabernacle front and centre with the priest with his back turned to us. Also, I'd like to see some of a dress code enforced. A couple young people were wearing sweatpants at church today... I'm not expecting super fancy as everyone attending mass may not have the financial means for fancy clothes, myself included, but you can at least try to clean up a little and wear a button up if you're a man. You're literally in front of Jesus, the Son of God. Not only is it disrespectful but, c'mon, have you no shame?

Neither the priest nor the the laity have the opportunity to control the TLM, as both have done and continue to do at too many NO Masses. At the TLM, sacred tradition keeps both in check, keeps both humble. History did not start in the 1960's. Most Catholics think it did, and desire nothing before that period. We have been conditioned by culture and Church to believe that anything older than the 60's or 70's is out of date and antiquated. The NO crowd do love tradition....just THEIR traditions. If you think about it, that way of thinking has it's roots in Marxism.

  • @Jwarrior123

All valid masses are beautiful, with the TLM being objectively superior as far as the liturgy is concerned.
But as long as we place the Body and Blood of our Lord as the centre of our worship, we are ok.
Let's not forget that the first Mass was done without the vestments, the candles, the songs, etc. It was pure and simple and of course reverential.

No! Marshall wants to be VP under Trump. Hopefully he will learn his lesson of associating with Trump, stay away, so he doesn't end up in trouble and land in jail too.

This is all great, but the Vatican II Council voted for changes in the liturgy. That was a legitimate council, no matter how astray it went. We're just stuck until we get a sympathetic pope and curia.

Not necessarily, they have axed dozens of councils in the history of the church most notably the Council of Constance

You mentioned, "no matter how (astray) it went" This means it has been taken off the rightfull path after over 1,900 years. Fake Pope Francis is preparing it to taken even further. Pray that Almighty God soon rescues his Church.

George Farmer comes across as arrogant and clearly confused about fundamental Protestant beliefs and history. He also appears to need more education in biblical hermeneutics. He also seems to promote the Latin Mass, which historically helped blind the masses for centuries to a state of Biblical and spiritual ignorance. Yet, he readily agrees that the religious grandeur and opulence of the Catholic Church, Latin Mass, and chant attracted him to them, which seems to stand in profound contrast to his claim that the Biblical text converted him to Catholicism.

I truly wonder. Do people like the Latin Mass because it's the Latin Mass ? Or simply because it's a novelty to their generation and supporting it is a way of rebelling against their elders ? (Who obviously deserve to be rebelled against for --- "fill in your reason.")

In one language? So no to the Byzantine Churches? 🙄. Sorry bud the Catholic liturgy was always celebrated in many languages.

Can’t put my finger on it…it might have something to do with the exuberant, fan-boy demeanor of Dr Marshall.

I fundamentally disagree with this man. God makes Himself known in people's own languages. Yes, no one can truly know God in all his mystery, but the point of Jesu's incarnation Is to make the father known. This is so deeply elitist.

Of course. A Roman Catholic Mass in a language that doesn't make any sense for about 99% of the attendants. That makes perfect sense to me.

Everybody has a missal with the vernacular on one side of the page and the Latin on the other side of the page. If not, usually there are booklet missals available at the entrance of the church. If you have no form of missal whatsoever, just watch the Mass and you will understand exactly what is happening. Language is not a barrier whatsoever.

When I sing “How Great Thou Art” at Post Vatican II Celebration of the Eucharist is when I feel lifted up to Heaven. I am 81 years old and grew up in the pre-Vatican II era. I studied for the priesthood and was a monk for 3 years. So, I am more familiar with the Latin Mass than those who are trying to relive the past. No way do I want to return to those days.

    • @crushtheserpent

Trying to relive the past?!? Is that want you think Latin Mass attendees are doing? How disconnected are you?

    • @david-nt3cz
      @david-nt3cz ปีที่แล้ว

This association with the Latin mass has become a cult with an agenda to change the church to it's perception of what the church was before Vatican 2. Most of these arm chair far-righters have
A fairy tale view of the church in the 1950's.
