- In 1902, archaeologist Stewart Macalister began excavating at Gezer. He soon realized that he was digging a Canaanite high place where the ancient inhabitants of the city had worshipped their gods. There he unearthed deeply disturbing evidence for “the iniquity of the Amorites,” which corroborated the Canaanite worship practices described in the Bible.

I have a goal set to read through the entire Bible this year. So far, I've read from Genesis to Psalms. Everything you said here is what I read. I also believed the God of the OT was mean until I started reading the whole Bible instead of just verses. I learned that God is far more patient than I would've been with the ancient Israelites. His judgments were correct. They really were a "stiff-necked" people. I cannot understand why, after all the miracles they were blessed to witness with their own eyes, they'd still turn away and do evil things, but they chose to do so over and over again.
Well, it's because they're just like us, even though we are in the age of information with advanced technology and mostly peaceful people, the Church is as lukewarm as ever. Our only hope is in the coming of Christ and the Holy Spirit through the promises of the Father. God bless you 🙏.

@York's Folly the reason why is because the Amorites are more connected to the Bible than the Aztecs. The Aztecs were not mentioned in the Bible, but the Amorites were on the other hand. If they were just a group of people that burned their children as a sort of burial ritual, then they probably wouldn't have been mentioned so much in the Bible. But since the Bible constantly talked about them sacrificing their children to their gods, this makes all the more sense.
I'm 54 years old and have always wondered every time I've read THE BIBLE And I've came to the scripture that says "Thou Shalt Not Bring Their Children Through The Fire". Circumcision is completely different than sacrificing children's lives. If done properly, circumcision actually has health benefits, and is a symbol of a covenant with God. In biblical times sometimes grown men would also be circumcised willingly.

And then the realization hits, you realize you've just unearthed a place of pure, absolute, concentrated evil, and that this is only a small, surviving example of the Canaanite culture's dark legacy.

Few that I've ever traveled through the land with have grasped the depth of these things and delivered them in such succinct and striking fashion as you yourself have. Before I was 3 minutes into this video I knew where you were going. I knew what God want to convey... and as you put forth all evidence it struck me deep like the piercing of a sword and I began to weep, and you still hadn't said a word about abortion.

Jesus was more than willing to sacrifice himself and he still lived. He was resurrected from the dead. Asides that where else in the bible have you seen people offering children to God as sacrifice. God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac just as a test. He stoped Abraham and provided a ram. Christianity centers around the death and resurrection of Christ. Christ himself chose to bear the sins of many to bring salvation and he was exalted and glorified. He would have chosen otherwise but he was so concerned about saving humanity. So does the tenets of Christianity order people to sacrifice their Children to God like the Baal worship of Baal entails, NO. in the bible God was very disgusted with this particular practice. Besides In Christianity Jesus is a part of the holy Trinity, He is God himself coming down in human form to bring salvation.

@@reginaford8575 I think those who question God’s authority/existence find a logical view more appealing at first. Once they have something that appears more “concrete” and can be backed by science, then they are willing to open their heart to the Holy Spirit and come full circle. Whereas, others make an emotional connection with the Holy Spirit, and then find the discipline of Apologetics as another “tool” or means to buttress their faith. Christianity is not a “blind” faith, so I appreciate the appeal when Archaeology and science lends support and confirms what Scripture and the Dead Sea Scrolls have revealed for millennia.
I encourage you to start learning the Hebrew and Greek language.
Since I started studding with the Greek and Hebrew side by side I have learned that the English versions have translation mistakes. Some of the more modern translations have literally thousands of mistakes.
The WORD of GOD and HIS TRUTH was given to us in the Hebrew and Greek language. In my opinion, we would be lazy and unwise to rely on translations.
@@jeff35372 Hi Jeff - I definitely want to get a strong grasp on Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, (the language Jesus spoke). I think it’s always a boon to learn as much Scripture as we can! We are told in Scripture to always be ready to give an “Apologia”. It’s difficult to give a defense of Scripture, if we don’t know Scripture!
Any time we spend in prayer, study, and worship with our Lord, the stronger our relationship with Him becomes!
I was literally just speaking with my parents about starting a Bible Plan together. As a child, my parents ensured that my brothers and I read Scripture at home, and attended weekly Bible Studies as we got older, and we started very young with our own daily devotions. We also enjoyed attending Family Bible Camp and Youth Bible Camp! Fo me, it was always a JOY to do anything centered on Our Lord and growing in our FAITH!🤗
Sadly, people have the misconception that attending church once a week is going to bring us a deep and meaningful relationship with Our Lord. It is a starting point, but like anything worthwhile and meaningful…we “reap what we sow”. I find the more I delve into Scripture and becoming closer with our Saviour, the more I want to seek Him out, and desire to become more like God! In this case, you cannot get too much of a “good thing!!”☺

I watched a documentary in the past year focusing on secular archeologists proving child sacrifice there..there were separate teams that didn't agree, but the evidence in some mass graves were overwhelming..the steps to prove this conclusion were insane!! I wish I could remember the name of it 🤔

I found a lot of informative books on Jerusalem and the Middle East on Internet Archives.
Here is something from Wikipedia about a book I found fascinating: "The anonymous Bordeaux Pilgrim's Itinerarium Burdigalense ("Bordeaux Itinerary") is the oldest surviving recount of a Christian pilgrimage to Jerusalem and chronicles his visit in 333 to 334." I also found an excellent book regarding what a traveller saw in Jordan and Israel around 1300 or more years ago, but can only remember a name something along the lines of "Giants in Israel" or "Giants in the Holy Land". There are a lot of fascinating old books of first-hand accounts out there, and after reading many of them, my ideas about the land there changed quite a bit. God bless you as you read and discover.
